How to unlock the United We Stand achievement in Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition - Definitive Guide

You can boost this with a second account. Log in with an Xbox Live Gamertag, guest accounts does not work! When you entered just stay in the back with the second player and be careful as the enemys are much stronger if you play with 2 players and only one actually fighting.

Krom is an easy one, as he isn't moving and shoots from his turret. To kill him, simply kill all enemies that you encounter on your way and clear the whole area, so that only he is left.

After that you may be lucky to stay next to a metal wall and have a small visual field through the peephole where you can use your sniper or pistol (or any weapon) with visor.
Be careful, Krom might shoot his turret to you and you get massive damage nevertheless.

When Krom dies you should get your achievement right away. You do NOT need to complete the quest, just kill the enemy.

Good question. Didn't try that, but maybe someone else?

No, the arena bosses do not count for this. I have all of the arena achievements done in split screen co-op, and this did not pop.

Just ran this with a 2nd account signed in (and getting achievements). Killed Krom by his turrent, and it didn't pop. 2nd account stayed near the entrance and didn't do anything. Not sure if the game saw that or not.

Only thing i know is, that connecting issues may void the achievement. If you didn't get it, try the other bosses. Rakk Hive is also quite easy, as you can shoot in his eyes with a shotgun and deal good portion of damage. If you fall, you can kill the Rakks as he infinitely spawns them and they fly to you nearly every minute. It was a breeze for me. His throwing "pods" wasnt making that much of damage, but in case, since you have a second account, his health bar shouldn't recover.

My theory is that the 2nd account didn't finish the first mission, and noticed the objectives for the Krom mission said "invalid," or something like that. I'll go through a few missions and see if it changes for the Flynt fight.

What do you mean offline profile? You need to be connected to Xlive Services with a full valid Xbox Gamertag since Guest Accounts are not allowed.

You can play offline, but you won't get achievements. A pal of mine played it offline and then connected again, but none of the achievements that he would have had unlocked was popping. So you better be connected.

Does it have to be the first time through a boss (so it counts as a quest) or can it be done at a later time?

It could be that it recognizes when a player is "afk," because I can go around and kill enemies with my main player, and if I move too far, the 2nd "player" stops getting money that the main player gets/shares.

If I added points to the skill tree, then it starts taking in money again.

Just a theory on this one

I've gotten all co-op achievements except this one atm, and play with 3 people one. i just made 2 new chars with 2 accounts. My account is gold and my other account is silver and still getting the achievements. Wouldn't sledge be a easier one if your just starting out? I'm using the 2nd controller method. Working this far

I tried using a profile that had already beaten the game and went to fight Sledge; he did not spawn and I had to fight a 'Roid Rage Pyscho instead. Tried a battle against Flynt and the achievement popped

is this possible with local splitscreen? I just killed sledge with my other account as my co op partner but I didn't get this achievement or the achievement for killing sledge on my other account

Had to go back in split screen and kill sledge a second time. Dumb achievement.

Started a new game with my dummy account, defeated sledge and no achievement. Then I started a game with my main account that had defeated all bosses, ran to sledge, defeated him and the achievement popped for both accounts. Hope this helps others get this annoying achievement. Good luck!!

My main had finished playthru 1 (pt1). I started splitscreen co-op on pt1 with main as host and another account as player 2. I fast traveled to trash coast, sprinted out to rakk hive, and killed it. Low level player 2 stayed idle at entrance for all of this. Achievement popped on both accounts.

I could not get this to work with Sledge. The achievement for killing Sledge wouldnt even pop while playing split-screen for either account. Wasn't an idle/guest either, was playing with my daughter. Neither of us got credit for killing Sledge. Was a fresh account for us both so quest was tracking. Travelled back to Headstone and killed Sledge a second time, still nothing. Guess we'll try Krom as we progress and I'll go back to Sledge solo sometime.

Update: Killing a respawned Sledge solo unlocked the Sledge achievement but (obviously) not the co-op one. We'll keep playing, see if Krom has the same issue.

To unlock the United We Stand trophy in Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, you will need to kill one of the bosses mentioned in the trophy description whilst playing in co-op.

If you're playing with a friend(s), this trophy will unlock naturally for you. If you are playing solo, an easy workaround is to log in with a second account/controller in split-screen and kill one of the required bosses.

Thanks to Kuolemanlaakso for confirming the method below doesn't work with this version of the game.

Your suggestion about how to get this playing solo does not work.

Edit: And again, didn't work. I think you need to change your wording, because i'm fairly sure that both accounts need to be there for the killing process. I have done what you suggest for Sledge and Krom, and no trophy.

I decided to try this solo method, with a vague idea that maybe the two had to be on the same playthrough to get it to work, so I dragged a deadweight guest profile through it's first playthrough (hindsight tells me that it would have been easier to start a new character for this, but that just didn't occur to me at the time). My initial hypothesis was wrong, however, as the trophy procced on defeating the Destroyer. I think that, rather than killing any one of the bosses, you may have to kill them all.

This can be unlocked with a second account and controller. A silver account will suffice.

The first chance to get this will be against Sledge, however his high powered shotgun, the small area you're in with him and your relative low level at the time of fighting him coupled with the increase in boss health and damage by having a second player present can make this somewhat challenging, especially to those new in the game.

You should then aim to unlock this fighting against Krom since he is in an open area that provides lots of cover and you can take your time making your way towards him, picking off his minions as you go. Krom too is somewhat weak and can even be killed from a distance with a sniper rifle by destroying the turret he is on.

Whoever you defeat in co-op is irrelevant however, as long as you beat one of the bosses named.

The description for this trophy has the bosses in the wrong order of appearance, the correct order is as follows: Sledge, Krom, Flynt, Rakk Hive, Vault Boss. You only have to kill one of these bosses to get the trophy, not all of them and it doesn't matter if you do it online or off. See the individual "Wanted" and "Destroyed" trophies for strategies on how to defeat each boss. It may also be possible to get this trophy by revisiting one of the above bosses you've already killed as most will respawn after saving, exiting and reloading your save (the sole exception is the Vault Boss, because he stays dead once killed). Whichever boss you kill for this trophy, it will pop the moment the boss dies.

It is possible to get this trophy without actually fighting one of the bosses. You can just join an online game where someone has already killed one of them and has the mission ready to Turn In and the trophy should pop (credit to BigDfan228 for this info). Do note though that this trophy may not pop if you kill the Destroyer whilst in Splitscreen and that Sledge can be buggy and might not always pop the trophy.
