There are two achievements tied to duels and you can get them both at the same time, firstly get into a co-op game either in split screen or over xbox live.
Now once in game face each other and in turn hit each other with melee by clicking the
. The first hit requests a duel and the returning hit accepts it. There is then a countdown before you both becoming hittable which means its time to deplete the other person's health bar to win the duel.

Grab a second pad or a friend who has a jap box and this game.
Jump into a game and both melee at each other. This will start a duel. Either take turns killing each other without the other player moving or just beat up the 2nd controller.
