How to unlock the The Gift that Keeps on Giving achievement in Borderlands The Pre-Sequel - Definitive Guide

Quest Name: L33T H4XORZ
Obtained in the Nexus post DLC Questline.

So the big question I had with this achievement before I got it was, do I have to do every combination of modifiers and mutators or just use each of them once.

Everyone will breathe a sigh of relief because it only wants you to use each of them once so I started on the X on both consoles and hit the right arrow on each console after each round.

** Okay so people are saying it is host only and others are saying it isn't so it's your decision whether you try doing this as player 2,3 or 4. Don't blame me, I did it solo.
Big thanks to Hobotheclown92 for adding Quest name, starting point, criteria and pointing out a mistaken word.

The center console is difficulty, the cupcake is the easiest and the difficulty increases with each right arrow press. For this achievement you don't need a specific difficulty so if you want to do it on the easiest go right ahead.

My combinations for rounds were:
Half Gravity + Butt Slayers
Operation Vacu-suck + Rocket Arena
Mag Density + CQB
Hyperspeed + Rangefinder
Flow + Torque Approves
Shoes Made of Acid + Laser Show
Vampires + Spray 'N' Pray
Bloody Good + Critipistols
Glass Turtles + Moar DOTS
* To check the details of what you have selected on the console press (controller x) on the picture between the two arrows.

@Kentgremlin From what I understand you just have to win one round and it should pop.

It is worth noting that you can get this achievement after only one round if you use your transferred character from the 360 who already obtained the achievement.

This IS still a host only achievement. The achievement for completing a round with a Mutator can be done in co-op NOT this one.

I played this last night and was not the host but got the achievement. Apparently they fixed the problem or did I just get lucky?

Can someone explain the enemy level system?
I beat the dlc on normal with a friend. I was host and we we're both level 50.
When I start a round the enemies are all level 50. In my friend's game they are level 36.

Is one of you on NG+? That would affect enemy levels or host level.

I know I'm late to the game but I may be able to enlighten a bit more: Me and 2 others (me hosting) did this using only 1 set of modifiers a month ago. We went back to it today and picked up where we left off. After we did the other 8 modifiers, only I got the achievement. We tried doing the set we had originally done a month ago and THAT unlocked the achievement for the other 2 people. So it appears the host can get it over time but other players must do it in one session. (or we got super lucky)

^ What he said, co op must be done in one session, did one mutator round before my friend left, when he came back we did the rest...... mine popped, his did not, so we did the one we originally did and it popped for him.

I did this solo, but found that I had to replay the mode and modifier that I used in the original quest afterwards. I also found that after the quest I did not get the play a round with the modifier achievement either, that popped after the second time around in the following sidequest. Just as maybe a small helpful tidbit to anyone

Do I have to have the quest to get this done because I have it finished.

I'm looking for confirmation on the max enemy level on normal difficulty. I tried starting this at level 50 on NVHM expecting the enemies to be in the 30s but they were also level 50. Do the enemies scale endlessly, or stop at 50? I'm now level 53 on UVHM wondering if I can now go try again (on NVHM) with relative ease.

EDIT: went at it at level 54 with same level E-Gun and had ZERO problems.

It unlocked for me and a buddy after we had completed each combination on the SAME character. he switched out after the first one combo so we had to redo it for his achievement to unlock

i think i didn't do the bonus in some (ex: i didn't have a Torgue weapon at hand when needed) and on those I only got 1 chest reward instead of 2... the achievement still popped after delivering the quest.

I have a theory that the people it didn't unlock for never made an offering. Maybe you have to at least once pay for the modifiers and turn in the quest. It's just a theory though.

The reason why is because my friend and I did all nine rounds and I did all of the activating of the modifiers, paid for them at the computer, got all the loot, and turned in the quest every single time, but I was not host, my friend was host and they did not get the achievement, but I did. I will try to remember to update this when we try some other things and see what works.

EDIT: The next night we got back on my friend was still host, they activated the modifier consoles, collected the quest from the computer, paid for the modifier, collected the loot, turned in the quest and then the achievement popped for them. Do with this what you will.

Your achievement was very helpful, just a couple of notes you might want to tack onto it.
1) The name of the quest where you do this is called "l33T h4xorz" and the quest is obtained post-completing the main storyline in the dlc.
2) The quest starts and ends in "The Nexus"
3) and lastly, your last pair of mutators should say "Moar DOTS'
Not meaning to take anything away from what you wrote because it was very helpful, just thought I would add :)

See "It's Raining Cats and Hotdogs" for how to access these missions.

The nine game modes are actually game modes as much as they are just circumstances that affect the actual Game Mode which is just a three-wave defence mission. They do spice it up a bit but this achievement is basically to complete the three-wave defence mission nine times with nine different circumstances. The Mutators give you character traits, such as more damage with certain weapons/attacks, etc. They are as follows;

  • Game Modes:
    • Half Gravity
    • Operation Vacu-Suck
    • Mag Density
    • Hyperspeed
    • Flow
    • Shoes Made of Acid
    • Vampires
    • Bloody Good
    • Glass Turtles
  • Mutators:
    • Butt Slayers
    • Rocket Arena
    • CQB
    • Rangefinder
    • TORGUE APPROVES THIS SH*T
    • Lasershow
    • Spray 'n' Pray
    • Critipistols
    • MOAR DOTS

After completing the first mission for the achievement 'It's Raining Cats and Hotdogs' you will gain free access to choose whichever Game Modes and Mutators you wish. I would suggest just starting from the beginning, choose the first of each, complete the mission, turn it in, then choose the second of each, complete that mission and so on, until you've done them all. You can also select the difficulty so be sure to set it to the easiest for to make this as smooth as possible. You do need to complete the mission, even though the achievement only suggests to 'Experience' them, as failing will not count towards Experiencing it. The first mission that you do for the achievement 'It's Raining Cats and Hotdogs' will count as one of the nine that you need to complete, so be sure to remember which Game Mode and Mutator you chose to avoid having to repeat it.

Complete all nine of each and the achievement is yours.
