How to unlock the Can't We Get BEYOND Thunderdome? achievement in Borderlands - Definitive Guide

For this you will need at least one other person/character/controller logged into a character. Can be done either via XBL or Split-Screen or System Link.

In the Arid Badlands you will run into an area labeled with a large sign entitled, "ARENA." Once you've reached this sign there will be a door you have to go to and press X like you have done elsewhere. Once inside run around the corner and approach the machine with the "X" on it similar to the Bounty Boards and the door you just entered through. Have at least 2 teams or different colors, can be 1 per team, then press "READY." This will transport you into the arena area. Once in the arena area simply kill the opposing person/team 3 times before they kill you 3 times. Upon the 3rd kill, you win and recieve the achievement.

To boost it, just create a second character on a seperate profile and do the above.

The Arena is located in the first bandit camp you clear while on the Arid Badlands (Freystone) map. When looking at your map, it is Southwest of your main base and there is a transition point (a star on the map) for the Coliseum.

Does anyone know what Thunderdome is, and why we can't get past it?

It's a reference to Mad Max Beyond the Thunderdome… I can't recall how the movie ends, but I'm guessing it's just a reference to the game and it's similarities to the Mad Max world: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mad_Max_Beyond_Thunderdome

It's a little more meta than that, it's referencing a line from MST3K about Mad Max Beyond the Thunderdome: http://www.mst3kinfo.com/guide/ep706.html

'Prologue: Crow and Tom tie up Mike so that they can deliver an elaborate joke that culminates (sort of) with the punch line, "Come on, can't we just get beyond Thunderdome?"'

It's also the chorus from the theme song for the movie. I think the MST3K reference is a bit of a stretch, but who knows...

thumbs up, but you should really add the location via cadmus and give credit made this much quicker since I had no idea where to go.

Felt the need to clear up the four-year-old debate, but it's definitely a MST3K reference, the chorus of the Tina Turner song is different. The one-liner "Can't we get BEYOND Thunderdome?" originated in MST3K.

Just trying to use another profile to get this, looks like I have to play a bit of the game first on the dummy profile.

You can either do this in online co-op or in split screen with a second controller.

Once in game head to Arid Badlands if you're not already there, you will spawn at Dr. Neds place, not far from here is a bandit camp you fought at early on in the game, there will be an area to the right with a large 'ARENA' sign, it is here if you need a map

The area looks like thisThe area looks like this

Transport to the arena and once there follow the arrow around to the board and press cn_X to setup a match and press 'Ready!' at the bottom to begin.

You'll be teleported to the arena to fight each other, there will be 3 rounds so who ever is going for the achievement needs to kill the other to win. You usually spawn at the opposite side of each other.

Simply start a Co-op or split screen game. Find the nearest arena to you (there are 3 in the game). However, to keep it simple, I suggest the Fyrestone Coliseum (see video below, credit to N1ghtElf M0hawk).

Once inside, enter the arena and kill the other player until you've won and then the trophy will unlock.

Happy Hunting :)

You can do this on splitscreen, system link, or over Xbox-Live. All you need to do is win an arena match. This is easy to boost with friends or by yourself on splitscreen. There is an arena in Fyrestone early on near one of the bandit camps. Only the host can start the arena once you have entered the lobby of the Arena. Nearby Arenas throughout the game will be marked by an "Arena" sign. The one in Fyrestone is near the starting area, and looks like a staircase that leads downward towards the entrance.

There are two ways to get this trophy.

At the beginning of the game, not far from the character TK Baha, there is an entrance to the Arena (in the bandit camp you need to go down a couple of steps into the bunker.

1. Ask a friend to play with you and kill him 3 times before the match ends.

2. Everything is the same, but instead of a friend, connect a second joystick.
