How to unlock the Depot Demolition achievement in Borderlands - Definitive Guide

For those who aren't aware, there is a glitch in the armory that allows you to have infinite time to get the guns. As you are walking towards the end of the hall past the code-locked door after Knoxx's fight, the last floor partition before you reach the red room is not solid. If you move around slightly you will glitch through the floor. You should see some blue checkered tiles as well. From here, just crouch and drop down into the room. The timers should be stuck showing about 2:33:86.

Explore the rooms and if you get full and want to sell some guns, just use a rocket to kill yourself (you will lose money, but the guns should compensate) and you will respawn near the vending machines and from here you can just walk back to the armory, glitch through and keep looting. Even if you jump from the highest point you will not die, so don't waste your time, just use the rockets. There are about 4 levels so make sure you poke around to find all of them.

You can also exit the game and restart when done to refill the chests, but you will have to kill Knoxx again, which is worth it in my opinion. Enjoy!

This glitch is still in effect as of August 2012, any updates to say whether it still works after that date would be appreciated.

If your Armory run is done on one of the quests that Marcus gives you (so anything other than the first quest into the Armory), don't go into the area under elevator as it will complete one of the objectives out of order and screw up your quest completion. If this happens, Dashboard immediately and then reload your game. This will reset that quest's progress and you'll be fine.

NOTE: I understand that it is not a true solution, but I would like people to be aware of this (possibly intentional) glitch so they can better enjoy the game.

Here is an example video with some extra tips, which I do not take credit for (credit goes to the cool British guy, DrSkelde):

Your play through and level do effect the status of your loot.
Go through this glitch on your second play through and you'll find much better stuff, higher level weapons than you will on your first play through.

Ok so I did this glitch and now I can't complete the mission and have to start the DLC all over!!! Any ideas on how to avoid doing that?

They havent fixed this glitch have they? I just got an update yesterday on Borderlands and I want to make sure it is still an active glitch.

I am pretty sure that they have not patched it, and there is even a possibility that it was intentional because it seems to convenient to be an actual mistake.

I stumbled upon this by accident yesterday. I looted the whole area and then killed myself with rockets. Then I went to complete the quest. So this is still possible.

You have to kill Knoxx every time you go back to the armoury after quitting. This might help:

If not, then post another comment and specify what you did and where it went wrong.

stupid question, you can still get the achievement the first time around if you do the unlimited timer glitch?

Yes, it still works. You have to kill yourself so that you respawn back at the starting area, then just complete the mission as normal. Arm the bomb and just walk through the armory back out to where you battled Knox, then wait for the timer to end.

I have a question for you guys. I recently purchased the GOTY of borderlands and I've been reading guides here and other places. My question is whether in this achievement there is a glitch that prevents you from getting it. Other forums have said something about having certain quests active or finished will prevent any possibility of getting this achievement. Is there a patch for all the glitches in this game??? Please help if you can and thanks in advance.

If you use this glitch here, you can just get the guns, suicide, then head back and complete the quest as normal so this one should be safe. Although, I did actually notice when playing with a friend that I had somehow gotten one of the Armory return quests (where Marcus gives you another shot at the Armory) before I had completed the actual Armory in Playthrough 2, so I had both quests and that may cause it to glitch if the game doesn't realize which quest you are doing. I don't know how it happened and I haven't tested the effects.

Glitch still works as of today.
Question about that though... watched the vid above & DrSkelde talked about all the crazy expensive & rare stuff he was getting. I just opened up every container in the joint & the largest value of anything was in the $200K range. There were only about a dozen items that were even above $100K, and not one pearlescent (sp?) weapon to speak of. Anyone have any idea why?

I'm not sure. I found some really good stuff on my first run, but after that it's all pretty average stuff even on Playthrough 2. Sometimes I'll find a rare weapon, but I've never found a Pearlescent anywhere to be honest.

This was my first playthrough. I'm currently only Level 43... I wonder if that matters?
Also... I have all of the DLCs, but this is only the second one I've played. I know this DLC allows you to get to Level 61... if I don't get to Level 61 on this DLC, can I get there playing the rest or does it have to be reached while playing The Secret Armory of General Knoxx?

The level cap is 69 now, with the title update that came out a while back. Levelling is completely independent of DLC so you don't have to get to 61 while playing the Secret Armory. It'll pop no matter where you are. I don't think your level will affect the rarity of the loot, just the damage and so forth. You can still get rare stuff but it won't be very effective as you level up.

If anyone is on this mission please let me know before you go into it so we can plan to do it together. I got glitched from turning in “Armory Assault” and my vault door won’t open. It’s done this to me twice. Need this last “depot demolition” achievement for my completion.

So, here's my problem. I activated the rocket nuke or whatever, and didn't do the 'expose munitions' part, so as i approach the base now, the red lance shield is up, blocking me from entering where i did the first time, and the knoxx cutscene starts as i wander outside of the building. Help?

It shouldn't mess up your progress if you're on the first quest to destroy the Depot. If it's one of the other quests that Marcus gives you after, then there is a danger area that you shouldn't go into, as shown in the video. I can't give any tips beyond that because my playthrough was fine after I used the glitch.

Hey, 1st Guide hope it helps!!!

make your way to road's end, head south to the place marked on your map, to make it easier though, have the Knoxxed Out mission active, at the end you should see the Crimson Armory door, head across to the markus guns and sell as much as you can, you'll know later, head through the 2 containers, up a short incline, go right a bit, through a corridor, use the elevator, short cut scene, then kill knoxx, you'll have devastators, medics, troopers to deal with, they are a pain, but you've dealt with them defore, so should be no probs, on your map head left, up some stairs, enter the code from the left: DARK BLUE, YELLOW, LIGHT BLUE, ORANGE. door opens, athena will talk to you, press the button, then you'll have about 2 minutes to grab as much gear as possible, sorted done, cheese mint comes up after credits!!!!,

If i've missed anything sorri, had to remember after the cheese mint popped up, memory bad, old age you know how it is!!!

amendment/addition: the code (which is stated in the mission details) is actually blue (as in dark blue), yellow, cyan (as in light blue), orange. there is no purple. i'd also add you're best off going in with as high a level shock shield as possible.

This was kinda gay the first time I fought him, at the time I didn't know what to expect. I was kicking his ass up until the other devastators showed up and I needed to heal so I went and hide for a bit and while I was doing so 2 medics came out and healed Knoxx back to full health. I was so pissed.

Just wanted to add something if you're Roland, don't pop out your turret if it heals, it will heal General Knoxx and it will make it a tad bit more difficult depending on how many players are with you. I beat him easily in single player, and went to multiplayer shortly after and had a 4 man squad and I popped out a turret and it just about fully healed him.

If you have been glithed out of getting this chevo I have found a way to get it. I will say it takes some time but for us that love to get 100% in our games it's worth it.

1 you need two controllers and a dummy account.
2nd have dummy account as main and split screen
3 2nd account should be glitched one load high level player play t 1
4 start game as soon as u can teleport to tbone j doit
Your just going to run through all the Main missions as yr strong character. Make sure u have the weak one 1 have there missions active. A for example to rescue Athena weak player must talk to her. Once u get to fight Knox beat him with strong character have weak set code and expo munitions complete mission and at end of credits chevo should pop for both. Commet if neg so I know what went wrong it worked for me perfect in one try.

Is the dummy account just a guest account that you created when going for the achievement or a local guest account?

I used a created account. You have to be able to load and save just in case it happens again.

I do not know why, but every time I completed the mission, my game crashed in the credits, then in the third time, I had the "brilliant" idea of giving a "quit-save" just before the credits, because thought I would receive the achievement after delivering it to the NPC.

Result: Not unlocked the damn achievement, and I will need to do all over again. facepalm

This achievement can glitch and require a new playthrough because this DLC stupidly has 3 different quests with the exact same objectives.
The quests are:

- Loot Larceny
- It's Like Christmas!
- Super-Marcus Sweep

These quests all require you to break into the Crimson Lance armoury, start the countdown on the bomb and then wait until the place explodes. I had all three in my mission log but once I killed Knoxx, I pulled right switch on the objective and then looted the chests. This completed all of the objectives for Super-Marcus Sweep but It's Like Christmas! still had the 'countdown started' objective unchecked. I pressed start and quit which saved my progress. When I loaded in, I was able to kill Knoxx again and access the armoury with It's Like Christmas! as my active quest which then counted as complete.

With both Marcus quests done, I let the armoury blow up only to find that the main quest Loot Larceny had not been updated at all. Luckily, I had not turned any of them in yet so I looked for solutions online and spent over an hour throwing health kits at the locked vault door to try and glitch myself inside. After getting annoyed/bored, I decided to try one last thing which was to save my progress and quit. Luckily, this again respawned Knoxx and allowed me access to the armoury but this time I pulled the left switch which progressed Loot Larceny and allowed me to finish the DLC.

Essentially, do the two side quests first and then the main quest by saving and quitting after each one is complete without turning any of them in.

I don't know if this will work for everyone, but it saved me from having to go through the entire DLC a second time so if you end up having all 3 quests in your mission log at once before you get to the armoury, try to follow me step-by-step and hopefully this garbage won't mess up for you.

After you complete the quest "Bridge the Gap" you will enter Road's End and receive the quest "Armory Assault." Your goal here is to kill General Knoxx, enter the code to the Armory (Blue, Yellow, Cyan, Orange) and blow up the Armory. The only difficult part of this for some may be killing General Knoxx. The easiest way to defeat him is to use a highly corrosive weapon on him. Also, be sure to kill any medics that appear right away. They love to drop their healing turrets which heal Knoxx very quickly. After Knoxx is dead, the rest of the mission is self explanatory.

GLITCH WARNING: In order to avoid your game glitching and making the Armory permanently closed, you must do the following:
- Do not quit out of the game once you enter the elevator shaft. Wait until the Armory explodes and the credits are done to quit out.
- Don't have the quests "Super Marcus Sweep" or "It's Like Christmas" in your quest log.

This trophy is story related and cannot be missed. It is the last mission of the main story line and occurs after killing General Knoxx. Once completed, the trophy will unlock.

Happy Hunting :)

The last story trophy. During this task you will have to fight General Knox, although he may seem like a strong opponent at first glance, he is actually no more difficult to kill than other bosses. Try to shoot him in the face all the time, preferably from a revolver or a sniper rifle (although a machine gun with a large clip is also suitable), before the shot the general will accumulate energy, shooting in the face, in addition to critical damage, you will also prevent him from attacking you (the general will either miss or stop attacking you). Difficulties appear when, after some time, reinforcements arrive, usually first they are Devastators, then Lance Medic (Spear Medics), the second pose a greater threat because they will heal the general with their turrets or grenades, so try to get rid of them as quickly as possible.

After the general is defeated, a passage will open for you where you will soon have to activate the bomb, as soon as you activate it you will have the opportunity to collect weapons from the boxes in the armory (and there are a ton of boxes there), and get out of there. You are given 3 minutes to do all this; in fact, you can be in the armory until the explosion, because... near the splash screen you will be reborn near the armory without losing your weapons and money. Oh yes, in addition to weapons and self-satisfaction you will receive a trophy =)
