How to unlock the Made in New Haven achievement in Borderlands - Definitive Guide

_____________________________________________________[updated 11 June 2012]_

To unlock this achievement, you must complete the story quest "Get Some Answers"* and all quests located in:
-New Haven (Scooter, Helena Pierce, Marcus)
-Trash Coast
-Earl's Scrapyard (Earl)
-Rust Commons (Middle of Nowhere Outpost)
-Claptrap Rescues (New Haven, Tetanus Warren, Scrapyard, Krom's Canyon, Old Haven, Trash Coast)

If you have more missions available in New Haven, ClapTrap is supposed to notify you via annoying voice transmissions (upper right-hand corner of your screen) that you need to visit a certain character to for more work.

As per Chris8875's suggestions, the Bandit Treasure (Old Haven) and Green Thumb (Middle of Nowhere) quests often go overlooked. Please see the videos below (courtesy of NextGenWalkthroughs).

@manic, have you completed the ClapTrap missions? If so and you're still having trouble, add me on XBL and I'll give you a hand.

I've read conflicting things on whether or not it actually counts toward the achievement, however it's located in the large pool south of Middle of Nowhere Outpost. There's a man standing there among tall flowers.

@dropK1CK I unlocked mine at a different point in the storyline. So we can conclude that this achievement is unlocked based on the completion of missions in the Rust Commons. It is important to keep in mind that you can progress through the main storyline very easily without unlocking this one.

As you play through the Rust Commons area of the game, you will notice ClapTrap video transmissions popping up in the upper right corner of your HUD. These do have a purpose-- the announcement is triggered by your progress or completion of a certain mission (eg unlocking a specific area). This makes it possible for you to have quests from different sources in a new area.

@teamwrk

It popped for me immediately after finishing the "Green Thumb" mission, so I would imagine that it is actually necessary for netting the achievement.

Well after completing all of the missions listed above in teamwrk's solution I didn't get this cheevo. I have the guide and checked all of the missions off to make sure I didn't miss any. The cheevo actually popped up after I completed the find Tannis part of the "Get some answers" quest. It's part of the main story and can't be missed, but according to the guide it is a mission listed in the Salt Flats Area.

You do NOT have to do all Claptrap Missions. I got the "Made in New Haven" Achievement and did not rescue the Claptrap in New Haven. See my Achievements.

Thanks for the list, used it to confirm I'd done them all when I thought I should have but the achievement still didn't pop.

As suggested, here and elsewhere, I had to complete the main story quest "Get Some Answers" as well.

I got the achievement after Destroying the Destroyer, but I didn't rescue all claptraps, which either means once you complete the game you unlock it automatically or claptraps don't count (I completed all the other side quests)

I unlocked the achievement while completing the first mission in new haven in the second playthrough. There are stilll around 10 missions left in the first playthrough, so perhaps this achievement is glitched, hope somebody else could confirm this :)

Excellent guide mate, thank you so much for this :) Clear and concise!

Was annoyed when I completed all the side missions and I didn't unlock it, didn't realise I had to do one of the main quest one before getting it. thanks for the great guide :) perfect!

Keep in mind that the claptrap will NOT say anything while the Echo system is switched off - just activate all missions as he announces them and this won't be an issue.

I tried this on three of my accounts (I love the game that much). It seems to not matter which ones I miss. This always unlocks after I beat 57/60 of the missions in total, as long as I've done at least one available mission and turned it in, to each available mission spawn point/person. I hope that helps someone :)

It does seem that you do not have to do all of them as I have done this on 2 different tag's now and it unlocked when I had 3-4 left to do.

The ones left were different each time.

So I was doing this after starting playthrough 2 but selecting playthrough 1, I had completed all missions except the claptrap rescues and today after finished these claptrap's;
Claptrap Rescue: Krom's Canyon & Claptrap Rescue: Trash Coast
the achievement for completing all missions in the rust commons popped and oddly enough the last I needed for the achievement to collect all claptraps also popped. This achievement seems to work differently for everyone... haha

Mine popped during a potential spoiler moment, so if you haven't finished please skip my comment.

Summary: I believe it is a quest finished number and not specific quests.

*****
Mine popped after I got Fully Loaded and the very next mission when I found Tannis (after she betrays you).

To make the solution more confusing, I was going for this one, thought I did them all, came here to check the list. Marked them all off and found I missed a Claptrap and Green Thumb. I did both of them, no achievement. I rechecked the list super carefully and have them all, no achievement. I've just moved on to the Salt Flats area (I wanted to finish this first though) in hopes that it is story based, or quantity based or something...

Vegetarian, I would update the list but I am no longer able to confirm any reports of what quests people didn't have to complete as I have sold the game. There are also too many conflicts between players' testaments of what they've completed when the achievement unlocked. Thank you for the tip though!

Three of the easiest quests to miss in this area are the two involving the bandits, and the Green Thumb quest.

The bandit quests can be found in Old Haven. If you teleport there and enter the town, go to the left and you'll see some dead bandits. One of them will look like he is glowing green - - approach him or find a nearby key to unlock the two quests.

With the Green Thumb quest, get a vehicle from the Middle of Nowhere area and drive around to the right. There's an area with shallow water and a house surrounded by plants - you'll notice someone outside the house. Go talk to them, that's where you get the quest, and also where you turn it in.

EDIT - Just to clear up a little confusion in regards to the bandit quest - when you arrive in Old Haven for the Smoke Signal quest you will find 4 dead bandits on the ground right near the entrance to the town. These are NOT the bandits needed for the quest.

To clarify, you will need to go through the door right in front of you and actually head into the town itself, turning left as soon as you get through the door and head towards a wall near the border of the town - the bandits needed for the quest are there, and you will talk to one of them before he dies.

On the Green Thumb quest, look for the shack with the huge dandelions growing thru it underneath the busted pipe. It's just north of the south bridge in Rust Commons East.

Just to add to this. I ended up missing these and the missions for Marcus in New Haven. Upon starting them, I did 2 of the missions Marcus offered after doing pretty much everything you can do, and it popped for me before I started ''Firepower:Plight of the Middle Man''.
Hope this helps anyone struggling with it.

No problems mate - those 3 quests are so easy to miss its not funny. And re "outstanding quests" - I think you may be right, I think the game recognises quests being turned in and may not click the achievement out until any of the outstanding quests are marked as completed and turned in (be they in the area or not).

Thanks for this - I would almost certainly have missed the Green Thumb quest, and possibly the one in Old Haven as well...

Didn't get the achievement right away, but I've a sneaky suspicion that if you have a quest active, even if it's not one of the required ones (i.e. slightly further on in the story) the achievement won't pop until you clear the outstanding quest... Certainly felt that way tonight as I was beginning to panic!

First off, there are a LOT of missions in this area.

Once you reach New Haven, make sure you check with everyone regularly to make sure you don't miss anything.

Scooter, next to the garage by the town entrance, Helena Pierce in the building straight ahead from the New-U station, and Marcus, the shopkeeper in the building next to the weapon machine all will be giving you missions.

There is also a bounty board in New Haven, and if you are doing all of these missions you will also open up a Bounty board out in the Rust Commons.

If you check with everyone regularly and complete everything you find, you should unlock this after you have moved out of the Rust Commons and into a new area leading towards the end of the story missions.

I followed the list after I'd completed many of the quests. I had Jack's Other Eye and Firepower:Plight of the Middleman plus about 3 Claptrap Rescue's left, so I'm going to make the assumption that the Claptrap Rescue's do not have to be completed (as there is already a challenge pertaining to the Claptraps), nor does every quest on that list (since Plight and Other Eye are unlocked after Firepower:Market Correction). But definitely follow the list and check the Borderlands wiki and you should be fine.

Once you've destroyed the final boss and returned to Tannis, you won't have that many missions left to do, if you've been doing them all over the course of the game.

Here are some missions which aren't given to you automatically:
-You may miss the Firepower quests if you don't look at a quest guide. You can do them anytime if you meet Marcus in New Haven.
-Tannis will give you one other mission called Jack's Other Eye if you meet her sometime after you destroy the Destroyer.
-If you walk around New Haven and look for a car workshop, you'll find a mechanic named Scooter. He'll ask you to look for some used car parts. He'll also give you three other quests.
-You will be required to go to the Middle of Nowhere bounty board to progress the main story. If you come back after defeating the Destroyer and speaking to Tannis, you'll have quite a few new missions to complete.

After doing all of this, consult a list like the one above (Credits to teamwrk) to make sure you've done everything. Once you finish your last remaining quest, you'll get this achievement.

This isn't confirmed or anything but from what I've read and actually done myself, there is just a minimum amount of quests that you have to complete. I did every quest except for the second bandit quest and the green thumb and got the achievement.

This is one of the more time consuming trophies. You will need to complete the "Get Some Answers" mission (story related) as well as completing all missions in the Rust Commons, which in truth for the trophy, covers everywhere in the game in regards to places you will have to go to. However, aside from the main story line, a few missions and the claptrap rescues, you can find these missions in the following locations:

-New Haven (Scooter, Helena, Marcus, Bounty Board)
-Crazy Earl's Scrapyard (Earl)
-East Rust Commons (Middle of Nowhere Outpost - Bounty Board)
-Claptrap Rescues (New Haven, Tetanus Warren, Scrapyard, Krom's Canyon, Old Haven, Trash Coast)

Additionally, the 2 most common missions missed are Green Thumb (Middle of Nowhere) and Bandit Treasure (Old Haven). Below is a list of all missions required to unlock this trophy (in no particular order):

When playing in co-op, I recommend not starting the single player game. Also make sure that you (your partner) do not have bugged tasks marked with crosses, otherwise they will not give you the trophy.

If you encounter this problem, the host should be a player with buggy missions. If this is additional task, then there is nothing difficult in its implementation. If the task is plot-based, then you will have to go through the game from this mission to the very end.

PS - I encountered this problem while playing in co-op, taking into account the latest patch.

I’ll add that after completing the list of tasks indicated above, you will not receive a trophy, you will receive it after completing the “Get some Answers” task further in the story

found all the claptraps, completed the story, didn’t even complete all the quests from the list (3-4 were still active) and got this trophy... most likely it was buggy, I still didn’t understand why I got it, I was online, but at that moment there was only one

If you seem to have completed all the tasks in all corners of New Haven, and you still haven’t received the trophy, then by checking the list above, you will most likely find that you missed one task, namely Green Thumb . Why this particular task? Yes, because the character who gives it is located so “successfully” that most likely during the game you have already run/drove past him more than a dozen times, but have never seen him.
