How to unlock the Brain Master achievement in Brain Challenge - Definitive Guide

This means an A+ in all games at all three difficulties (20 games * 3 difficulties == 60 A+s). An A+ is achieved by getting 1000+ points in that particular game.

I'm not entirely clear on how they all unlock. It seems you can only unlock 2 per day (they unlock after the 'brain test' used to get the '100% brain usage), but they also depend on hitting certain brain usage levels (that is, my last one didn't unlock until I was at 100%).

Some of the games you can 'cheat' by taking a picture (or in the case of some of the math ones, just remembering the problem), and then pausing the game while you solve, and unpausing to put in the answer. Some just require lots of practice and being quick. Try using the D-pad instead of the left stick for the games where you have to enter values. Also, some games (Traveler and Ascending, for example) allow you to use A/B/X/Y instead of a stick, which may help you.

As a general rule, to get A+ you need 100% correct, as you'll need to answer 3-4 'extra' correct to offset an incorrect answer. On 'Easy' you generally need to be getting each answer 'Fast!' which can sometimes mean answering up to 55 correct during the 90 seconds. On hard it's just about getting them right without being 'Slow!' for most games.

I have noticed that sometimes your A+'s won't save correctly. This happens if you open your guide and exit to the dashboard, or turn off your 360 while still in the 'training' menu. I'm not sure how far you actually need to back out, but after losing A+'s once, I always hit 'B' repeatedly to go to the main menu and hit 'Return to Arcade', and I haven't had it happen again.

I'm still a few away at this point but I take a few minutes hacking at one of them every day... All 60 will fall eventually.

Ah, yes, I have had that happen... I'm pretty sure I know how to avoid it -- I'll add it to the solution.

Does this achievement consider the Stress Games?!?!? ... for the missing A+ ... I'm a control freak psycho, so I always check my score after playing the mini-game, then of course I always exit with the Return To Arcade option

No, the stress games do not count as far as I know. It's only the 20 games that would appear in the 'brain test'.

yeah you are right the stress games do not count. The picture method sounds like a good idea especially for games like frog and travelling.

As far as your A+'s not saving you can not just quit back to the dashboard you have to go to the main menu screen and return to arcade or everything you hsve sccomplished during that session will not be saved.

I have 100% Brain Usage but still haven't unlocked every game in training mode. Any advice?

You still need to do the 'brain tests' as you can only unlock 2 games per day -- You could possibly get all 100% in one day, but have to keep playing it on later days to continue unlocking games.

I've used pen/ paper, camera phone, mixed with pausing and have nailed 48/60 in 2 days. The ball one was funny got A+ on Hard and Medium first try, but Easy took many many times to nail. Had to get 55 correct with no incorrect and most of them answered fast.

So just 12 more A+s, 2% more for 100%, and 7 online matches and this will be complete! :)

In total I got to 100% 60/60 A+, and only need 7 more online wins, and my in game time was a little over 22 hours.

Congrats man... I still haven't quite been able to finish the last few, although it's been quite a while since I took a hack at it.

Just confirming what Crimson Drifter said about the "easy" bouncing balls: definitely the hardest minigame and you will need to get roughly 55 right in a row. I got 56 right and 3 wrong, but that was the first 55 right, then wrong, right, wrong, wrong. So it appears to be about the streak rather than getting perfect, if that is even a scintilla of encouagement for people: you don't have to be perfect.

By pausing and starting again, has anyone had the controller lock on them? For example, I was doing arithmetic and it wouldn't let me select numbers but I could go to the menu.

Perpalicious, that has happened to me as well in airthmetic, but only there. It might be a bug with that specific minigame, but could also be tied to the method of answer (calculator), and could also affect other minigames such as garage and matchsticks.
I'm not sure what caused the bug, but I ended up waiting to pause until the text animation was finished, and not hitting the d-pad momentarily as I unpaused. Worked like charm then.

I'm at 96%, and I'm still missing the last game in each category. Even with a new game every 1% I still would be missing one. Is it only the Brain Test that gives them?

Yes, it's only the Brain Test. They should all pop when you hit 100%, but I'm not sure.

Hit 100% today, unlocked 2. Still missing the final game in 3 categories. But I never knew you could do more than one Daily Test a day. I thought it only counted the first time each day, so maybe if I do it 2 or 3 times each day I'll have them in a few

I'm fairly sure it never lets you unlock more than 2 per day, but I was never able to quite figure out the criteria of when and why they unlock, it seemed kinda random. I don't know.

By Zilding on 20 Nov 2011 23:39
I'm thinking random. For my last 15-20%, I didn't unlock anything. Then, yesterday when I hit 100%, I played a second Daily Test and unlocked 2 of my 5 remaining. Today, 2 more. Hoping I get the last tomorrow, and finally finish this achievement off. Then... only the evil online remains

Worked on it for about an hour and am up to 26 A+'s including all three bouncing ball minigames. Gonna keep doing it tomorrow. All I have left til completion is this and all of the online achievements (I heard the 100 wins one is one heck of a grind)

Up to 40 now, got all of the Memory games done. Ascending and most of the logic games are giving me trouble, but i think I just need to try the picture method and after that I should be fine.

Liner Bronson is right! The bouncing ball on easy wasn´t easy. I got 54 and 1 wrong on early attempt. I got it 10 attempts later or so with the last millisecond press to get the 55th on the time. So tough to reach 55. I am not sure you can have many errors though. I got 55 correct and 0 error.

Worth mentioning is that you actually loose brain usage if you don´t play the game for awhile unless I got the 20 % achievement on another xbox/save which I doubt.

If you're like me and had 100% brain usage but not all of the mini games unlocked you can play offline and change the date on your xbox to the next day, play a daily test and then change the day forward again. Repeat until all mini games are unlocked :)

little comment to add. pay no attention to the number of A's you have in your stats, because if you get 2 "A"s in a single test, stats will add it up. I thought my game was glitched because I did not get the achievement after getting 60 A's, but realized i had 2 A s in one game, and was still missing a game...

my suggestion would be that if you are going to take pictures, first go for the bouncing balls; i don't think there's a way around that one, so at least do this first just to be sure you can get the achievement and not work in vain...

Has anybody had any trouble with the game saving your A+? I have acquired some but when I go back to play again it has my old scores. I go through the training menu, this is the only cheevo I need, am I doing something wrong?

If anyone is still struggling with bouncing balls on easy, I leave you this.

liner bronson playing Brain Challenge

It seems to me that you have to get 55 right, streaks are irrelevant. This took me hundreds of tries, but bear in mind that I am a middle aged man with the reflexes of a slug. So, if I can do it, literally anyone can.

And notice at the end, I am far from perfect. Get one wrong, and take ages on the next, so this is very doable.

To sum up all the comments and add some details on the diffrent subgames. Unlock the games by playing daily brain challenge. I had them all unlocked when I reach 100% but I reached 97% before I started "cheating". so I had them all unlocked.

Tools recommended: Paper and pencil and a digital camera or mobile phone with camera.

LOGIC

Balance: Select the heaviest item ignore what they look like, but make sure you notice the scale isn't boolean, ie the height will help solve some of the combinations. Taking photos makes this game a breach but just pausing while thinking will be enough to beat it.

Magic Rule: Look at the three rules, to find the solution of the fourth. Photos makes this easy but pausing and thinking will take you through it.

Impression: Count the impressions and focus on weird shapes position and you can do this by pausing and thinking. Photos will as usual make it very easy.

Combinations: You can basically ignore the "signs" and only focus on the changes. Pausing and focusing on atleast two corners will solve almost all combos in a single pause. photos remove all challenge.

MATH: You shouldn't need a calculator use one if you want

Troute Route: Pause calculate, unpause move, remember to move directly if their is only one possible path. and you will solve it without the need of photos.Photos will improve your score.

Arithmetic: Be carefull when you pause or you will be unable to move. pause, calculate, unpause feed in the answear, quick look, pause... No use of photos.

Tick Tock: Look on first watch , pause, note it down, unpause look att second watch, pause Note it down, calculate diffrence, unpause feed the answear in. You can use photos instead of a note pad, this will give you time to watch the options and you might not need to calculate and instead rule out the wrong answears.

Match Stick: Photos is the best option here, but you can solve them with a notepad and the pause button aswell. Easy doesn't require either.

Memory:

Traveling: Just follow the path, this is the easiest game of them all. If you just remember that the path never cross itself you can figure out how the path went on the fast one even if it's just flashing quickly on the screen.

Hocus Pocus: Focus on the colours and order, not the shapes. and you will solve them by pause and notes. photos will makes it easy.

Order:, Pause and note down the color and shape on paper then just feed in the answear. Photos are not a good option here.

Garage: Look, pause, calculate, unpause, look, pause, sum on the Hard difficulty. easy and medium can be done without pausing.

VISUAL:

Asending:
I solve this one on easy without pausing, but i recommend Photos on all difficulties. It's just hard to see the diffrence between 9,10,11,13 blocks of diffrent colors if they are nested. You can do this with pausing and thinking aswell.

Mosaic: One of the easy once that doesn't require any cheating. just feed in the shapes and don't be bothered about the "slow" you get on the big ones. Photos will improve your results.

Reflection: Photos are the best option here, you can probably handle Easy without it.

Face: Is a child game on easy and quite easy on Medium if you remember to look at the characters cheek shape. But photos really help on Hard so you can find the minor diffrences between the characters without stress.

FOCUS:

Bouncing Balls:
Select the fastest moving and highest jumping ball. This one is hardest of the games if you use "cheats" because you can't cheat in it. But if you wouldn't cheat this one is quite easy in comparison with many others.

Numbers: Easy and medium is not hard without cheating. Hard is easy with a photo so you can look at the options in peace and not the diffrences. you can then unpause and look for the "diffrence" or you can pause/unpause while noting down the numbers on a paper.

Ninja: My favorite Game. You solve them easily on all difficulties by just looking and pick the right answear. however if your brain can't keep up with the flashing ninjas, make sure your not tired and practise.

Frog: Photos makes this one easy. Pausing and thinking will do, if you can solve Easy with one pause per pattern. Medium and Hard is solvable with several pause/unpause.

First time i read the description of this one, I just thought, I will never beable to do this one, but with a camera in the mobile it was a breach. take a few each day and you will get it in the end. Taking photos usually drain the battery on the mobile so you will need to stop playing once in a while even if you don't get bored. Just Post any question you endup with here and I will reply next time I drop in.

Take a video when solving numbers, hocus pocus, order and garage. That way you can just loop it until you figure out the solution.

Reflection is the toughest one for me!

Oh lol 2641 for Ascending on hard! Love my camera!

So one question! I guess the guide have the answer but still!

The stress mini games don´t count?

Those above was the only minigames the game had when I played it. if more has been added in a patch. I don't know if the requirements has changed. So you have to do all above even the ones that seems to be more stress than focus.

The other solutions are very helpful regarding tips, tricks, and how to unlock more mini-games. So I won't be going over any of that, but only how many I got correct and wrong, so you'll know how many you roughly need for an A+.

A+ are rewarded when you get 1000 points in a single mini-game game. I'm not sure if a slow, average, or a fast answer or a streak affects the score at all, but it might just depend how many you got correct.

Best way of doing this for all the mini-games is taking a picture or video with your phone then pausing afterwards.

To get to these mini-games, Go to Training room - Brain Training - any of the 5 categories

This is going to be formatted as
Level: (Picture/Video/Paper)*
Difficulty (#c/#w)* . (Score)*

*(Picture/Video/Paper) is what you should use for that mini-game.
*(#c/#w) is short for number of Correct/number of Wrong that I got.
*(Score) is the score that I got for each mini-game.

Be very careful dashboarding/quitting the game. If you dashboard/quit the game from the mini-game selection screen, your progress will be reset since the last time you started the game up.

All you have to do to safely dashboard/quit game, is to keep pressing cn_B until you're back at the main menu where you see "Return to arcade" at the bottom. Either press "Return to arcade" or you can just dashboard. I always pressed the return to arcade. I also returned to arcade after every level I did just to be safe and so I don't lose my progress that I did.

If there are any issues in this guide, let me know!

Just like the logic of “A+” but instead of getting it in 1 game, in 1 difficuly, you must get it in all games, in all 3 difficulties. This also requires unlocking all games, which can be done through your daily training. There is another guide *HERE* with how to play all games, as well as tips and advice on how to do well. You do not, however, need to do any of the stress training.

A difficult achievement, to say the least (
To begin with, we need to go through the entire game and open all the games, they are also opened for stress tests and children's tests, take the average level in training and think carefully to get the highest score.
