How to unlock the Ark King achievement in Brink - Definitive Guide

Annoying but very fast and easy way to boost :

Have a light class to run faster.
Make the soldier class your default class.

Select free play, private game, objective type, invitation only
Map : Labs
Customize server :
Min Team Size : 0
Max team size : 1
Players needed : 1

Start as Resistance.

Notice that you're alone with no ennemies, but you'll still get the xp.

Then just rush the primary objectives.
Rush to the door, plant the bomb and stay close to it until it explodes.
Then rush to the post in front of you and take Ingineer class, rush to the Bio-sequencer and repair it (longest part). When done, the sample will drop in front of it, just take it to the submarine.

Don't forget to hold LB to sprint.

When you'll know well the path, it'll take you 3 minutes to make it all. Thanks to the bonus, you'll get 5500 xp in 4 minutes including the loadings. (About 83 000 xp an hour)

Efficient but very boring way of getting XP, I think Maka's guide is better and his method is more fun because you're doing more stuff. I still gave this a positive though.

I would say this is better because it requires you to do less, meaning you can do other things at the same time. I'm always appreciative of methods that can be done solo and whilst I'm watching something else.

True. You have time to watch something else while waiting for the door to explode and while holding X near the sequencer.
About voting and changing at the post, I'll try and compare that tonight.

Positive vote from me but any idea how much XP you actually need to hit level 24, if you know it may be worth just sticking that info into your solution to give us some idea how much further we have to go.
Cheers

I finished grinding this out early this morning. its definitely the fastest way IMO especially if there is no one to boost xp with. I just browsed the internet while waiting on objectives to complete. Oh and for the guy above me even though it was a month ago: You need 503,000 xp to get level 24... so you need around 200k more xp from rank 20

I don't see how this guide has any negative votes? This is just an option of leveling up quickly, and there are other methods of doing it as well!

Just FYI: There's an extra ~200 points available if you spawn as something other than Soldier and then change at the first command centre thing. Takes about an extra 5 seconds but could be worth it.

Also, I've been voting for Labs after each map, so that I don't have to load it all up again. Not sure if that's quicker though.

Basically, start as Engineer, change to Soldier, blow up the door, switch to Engineer, finish the level, vote for Labs, start the level, change to Soldier...

OK. Firstly this will get you just under 100,000 XP in one go !!! With absolutely minimal effort required.

Note: This can do done with a bot OR another player

Firstly, props to KamiKazeKore and Tatakai no Kami. this is a modification of their strategys

So setup the game in the following manner:

Freeplay - Private Match - Versus - Only Invation (+20%)
Map: Reactor
Min Player: 0
Max Player: 1
Overtime: Yes

Player that needs most XP as Resistance, other players as Security

Resistance: Operative
Security: Engineer

Both go to the same vent

Resistance player starts hacking

Security waits until percentage is at 20% then simultaneously starts to remove hackbox (they will have to hold the X button down to accomplish this, perhaps some sticky tape ?)

IMPORTANT: Both players are hacking AND removing at the same time so BOTH players get XP at the same time

Now, in this setup, you will notice that the hack percentage still goes up. In order to combat this, the Resistance player that is hacking simply needs to move further back so that the hack is less effective

Back by how much ? Well the easy bit is to move back until the hack percentage counter in the top right of the screen turns from yellow to orange. Once it has done this move EVER so slightly forward until it goes back to yellow, no more

Once you have this setup, the percentage will no move, the timer will run to 0 and then overtime will continue, there is NO end game in this situation (I've had it up to 1h34m like this)

No further effort is required AT ALL until the game ends (unbelieveable I know)

CAUTION: The XP counter will RESET once it gets to 99,999 XP. Therefore you MUST stop the game at approx 90,000 XP in order to allow for the end game bonus (yes I found out the hard way, lost over 100k in XP :( )

Remember, the security player will get MORE XP than resistance, but considering you can get approx 80-90k EACH in one go without any effort, easy to repeat

Best of luck

Great solution. Did it with the bot. I know someone asked how it work so if anyone needs the info for future reference:

In my experience, the bot always spawns as a soldier first. You should be an operative (on the resistance side) and go and plant the hack device and wait for the bot to show up. Once the bot shows, run off and hide for a moment. The bot will go and capture a command post so he can come back as an engineer. Once he starts taking down the hack percentage, he won't come off of it no matter how close you get. Just position yourself at the appropriate distance so that the hack % doesnt drop any lower. Its 1 minute for about 1500 exp. (ive ranged from 1400 to 1650 depending on the "guarding" bonus pops). Once you hit the 90,000 mark, just stop hacking, let the bot win. No one gets the win bonus but you still get the 20% online bonus.

Hope this helps if someone needs it in the future. Great guide Mutley

I did this by mistake, I was still going to the reactor and hiding for about 27-30,000 after 30 minutes............. that's the wrong way to boost.

You need to make an objective game and make it friends and invite only.
Min players1
Max players1
Map reactor
Overtime On
Switch teams to Resistance if you don't start as that team
Select an Operative Class

I always went after the right vent(probably can go left if you want) and it works much better with a character lower tier 2 or under.(level 13 and down)

What you do is you run in and hack the vent, when the AI comes (usually from the top middle the first time) you kill him.

If you stand right behind the hack box with the vent blocking your view from the door, the AI will always come in the room from that side and start to defuse if he doesn't see you. He will lock into the defuse even if he sees you after he starts (happens at level 20 too but the AI can stop defusing after a 1 minute or so if he is looking right at you). kill him and start hacking again.

Do this until the hacker hits 70-75%. After that you continue to hide on the left side of the vent right next to the hack box but about 3 steps back, with your characters body completely hiding from the site of the bot but don't kill him when he locks in.

Again seeing no enemy, the bot will run up to the vent and hack. Even if he sees you after starting he won't stop hacking (at lower levels), but to be safe you should hide to the opposite side of where the bot comes to defuse at. If he is to the left, you're to the right of the vent. And if he is in the middle just hide straight behind the Vent. Basically keep the vent between the you and the AI.

Now this is the important part, you start to back away from the Hacking vent until the percentage in the right goes from yellow to orange/brown. This means the AI is defusing more than you are hacking. It happens around 4 bars of connection or when you see your hack points are at +12 or +13.(At higher levels the AI could have engineer skills that let him defuse faster, so tier 3 players might have to sit closer)

Once you are in a sweet spot of inching forward and backwards in this range, make sure you leave it just in the orange/brown range. This will likely freeze the counter or worse case it will take the bot hours to defuse from 95%. After that you just walk away, go to sleep, change your car oil......what ever.

Because if you get this right the game will go into Overtime and keep going, after 120 minutes you should have about 170,000 exp if you stop hacking and let the bot defuse. Never Quit.

These are all projections because I was done with the game after 1 hour.

If you left for 2 hours it you should have 240,000 and a 15% bonus 3600.
3 hours would be 360,000 bonus 54,000.
4 hours would be 480,000 bonus 72,000.
So in 3 1/2 to 4 hours, you can go from level 1 to 24.

Sidenote: for level 13 and higher tier 3 plus players, the computer will be more aggressive because he has more skill/skills. The engineer will be much more likely to stop his hack to look for you if you are too close or to put down a turret or mine.

Level 20 players should check after 30 minutes to a hour to see if they are dead on the ground. You can get it to where he will leave you alone depending on the AI they set for that match, but things can go wrong with the super aggressive Bot.

He usually has the ability to shoot after you down him. Watch out for that bot if you are level 20 or higher.

*******Update:To avoid the aggressive Bot- " Start up Brink offline. This disables the DLC which is important. I can verify from testing that the so-called "smart" or aggressive AI only appears when the DLC is active. In the menus, now sign back into XBL and set up the vs. match, but this is the great part - the DLC will remain disabled."

The Level caps at 20 and exp at 300,00 but it saves all exp earned and it will unlock the next time you log in to the DLC

Thank you 'The 218er' for that added bit of information. I tried and tried this tactic, but the bot would stop disabling the hack, and instead attack me every 2-5 minutes. I then followed your solution, and I went 4 hours straight no problem with this.

Solo method better than 2 player boosting. Started it last night, woke up let the bot take off the hack and boom, level 20 cheevo and level 24 cheevo. I didn't even do the DLC trick. I just stood right behind the vent collecting 14 - 15 points per hack. Thumbs up from me

@JDCRANZER So basically you read xX Anji Xx solution and decided to do things your way and then gave him a down vote because your method had different outcomes than his... ? well only natural since you didn't follow the very step as xX Anji Xx states "min player 1 max player 1".

what you should do is up vote for using his solution as a template for your method and then take your method and put it on here as solution for those who want a method for when they are boosting with a friend.

what you should have done was give him an up vote for his solution giving you a template to go off of and then adding what you did as a solution to this achievement guide list for people that are boosting with friends.

If you have 2 Copies, you can also change yourself to disarming instead of hacking increasing the rewards from 12 per tick to 20 per tick of XP. Possibly cutting the grind by quite a bit

Having 2 copies makes several of the Misc achieves alot easier aswell

Thumbs up, by far the best solution. There is a workaround for the aggressive AI bot for level 20+ that I stumbled upon. Start up Brink offline. This disables the DLC which is important. I can verify from testing that the so-called "smart" or aggressive AI only appears when the DLC is active. In the menus, now sign back into XBL and set up the vs. match, but this is the great part - the DLC will remain disabled. You can now proceed as stated above but now the AI will spend the entire time trying to disarm the hack without attacking you or setting up turrets. By doing this you will notice your level caps at 20 and XP at 300K, but the game saves the XP you earn and your level will update the next time you sign in.

I had to down vote this solution unfortunately. Before the start of this game I was at 210,000 XP. My friend was hosting and I was invited into his game, the counter reset twice and I waited until it got to 92000 XP and then I killed him, we had been in overtime for 1 hour and 50 minutes. I ended up getting 65,000 XP earned with all the bonuses, I think it might be capped for the invited player. So I only had 275,000 XP, whereas, my friend got up to 504,000 XP.

Another thing we did differently was that I played as the Engineer on the Security side.

So right now, I've switched as the host and hoping I don't lose my XP like the last time.

I'll comment with an update. I down voted this solution because it said we wouldn't get screwed over but instead I did.

For this you need 2 people to make it work, Pick the map reactor in a custom game, have one person go resistance and one security. For the resistance, that player needs to go operative and plant a hack box. For security, that player needs to go engineer to remove the box. The goal here is to both be hacking and removing the box at the same time. The operative should stop at around 98% and let the engineer reduce the hack, once its in around 5% the operative can continue hacking. With this both players can easily earn around 40k+ per game.

05 Aug 2011 16:08

Well, there is a very easy, if not incredibly boring way to do this. First, pick the map Reactor, then choose to be Resistance. Set it so there are 2 bots on your team and 3 on the other. Then, start the match. As soon as it starts, run as fast as you can to the objective on the left. Now, go stand behind the pillar right behind the hacking objective. There, you will get points for defending, and for some reason, the enemies will rarely see you. I averaged 24,000 points a match doing this. Very easy and fast way to rank up.

12,000-16,000+ XP every 10 minutes. (90,000+ xp/hour)

This trophy asks you to reach level 24, which is the max rank in the new dlc. To get this rank, you need a cumulative 503,250 xp. This is 203,250XP from level 20.

Make sure to select "Invite Only", to gain an extra 20% (2000+ XP) at the end of each match.

The information below is also clearly (and visually) explained within the video located at the bottom of the guide.

Character:
Make sure you are a heavy class, with the Chinzor MG as a primary weapon. Add attachments to suit your personal needs. Buy the Caltrop grenade for the Operative class, if possible, and set Operative as your default class.

Mission:
Start the last Security Mission (Day 8: Fallout), on solo easy. As an operative, make sure you select "Defend Vent System" on your objective wheel, and run to the room where the vents are located. Now you will wait until enemies come to attack these points, and whenever you kill them, disguise yourself for a 125xp bonus. You will also be getting "defending" points for being near the objective. Keep running between the two rooms, and disguising yourself whenever you get the chance. Try to stay away from dying. Also, make sure to throw a caltrop grenade into the doorway of one of the vent rooms, to get points when enemies walk into the room. It will also warn you that they are coming. You should be able to get about 1,000 XP every minute, and get a bonus for being successful (15%). At the end, just "retry" the mission if you want to continue boosting.

Pro tip: Instead of using the caltrop grenade (like explained above and in the video) you always have the option of using the "homing beacon". Select this ability, and aim at enemies until they have a marker above them, for an additional 50 points. Now kill them and disguise yourself. You can also switch between the same enemies multiple times to boost points. Using this method can net you anywhere between an additional 1,000-2,000xp per 10 minute match. Credit for this tip goes to xKRIS DETHx.

Note: If you played Brink after getting to rank 20, before the DLC was released, the XP you received will NOT count towards leveling for this achievement. This means you are required to attain 203,250 XP once you download the DLC update.

Once you reach level 24 which is 503,250 XP this will unlock.  Quickest way to level up I found is to pick operative class, kill an enemy then hack this body for comms hack then hack his body again to steal his disguise. Keep doing this for lots of XP.

There is a detailed method, explanation and video for boosting xp and ranks here. Thanks to Maka for XP guide.

The quickest way to earn XP is to to play on the map called Container city. Here is a summary of what you need to do to gain a lot of XP with the set time limit and the settings you will need. Please choose Freeplay, Private match.

  • Game Mode: Stopwatch
  • Play Mode: Solo
  • Visibility: Solo
  • Map: Container City
  • Match Settings:
  1. Match Duration: 30 Minutes
  2. Difficultly: Whichever ( Normal)
  3. Min/Max Team Size: 8 (Eight)
  4. Everything else the same, except Friendly fire: Turn it off.

Your first objective is to guard a gate and another objective is to disable the Maintenance Robot. All you need to do is stay crouched near the gate and continue to take out enemies until the robot starts to come towards you, then just toss a grenade and a Molotov if you are a soldier and keep shooting at the robot with an assault rifle while simultaneously switching out for an SMG at some points to take out overwhelming enemies. The mission is easy due to the fact that your AI partners will continue to stay around you at the gate during this mission. Thanks CorpusDelecti for the tip.

Here are two videos that can help with gain XP a little faster than just playing the game over and over.

Thanks MakasGuides for the video guide.

Thanks KingSuperOne for the video guide.
