Can confirm that using A and B to skip thru the bfast choices works. Tried the patient route my first time and it failed - i.e. no cheevo.

Shay Act 1
This is the first trophy that you can get in Shay's story and is missable. When Shay is sat at the table in the kitchen right at the start of his story, refuse every single one of the cereals that are offered by the robotic arm. You'll be offered 11 or 12 different cereals, the last of these being SPLARGH. Once you have refused SPLARGH, the trophy will pop.

When you are in the space ship in the first Chapter, refuse all of the options presented to you for breakfast. This will pop when you've cycled through the lot.

Right at the beginning of Shay Act 1, you will be woken up by the computer and sat at a table and offered various cereals. Reject every choice you are given, normally this is the top answer. Once you have been offered SPLARGH and tried to reject it, the trophy should pop.
