How to unlock the Flawless Execution achievement in Broken Age - Definitive Guide

This is a throw your controller at the TV achievement for sure, as the other guide describes.
After much frustration I finally got this one done just now. Here is the advice I can give that helped me. The most difficult part of this (obviously) is the 3rd session of grabbing creatures. This is the LAST pass when you are using "Grabbing Gary" to control the boom arms. The Creatures and the Boom arm are moving SUPER fast and this is the area where your manual save is critical.

1. Press the Boom Arm button when the creature is sliding toward your arm. Basically, when they are headed toward each other. If you try to do it when they are parallel and catch it right as it changes direction it simply will be too fast and you will miss every time. (hope this makes sense, and it may be too obvious for many people.)

2. The timing that worked best for me was to wait till the boom arm and the creature are both moving to the right corner. Right as they hit that right side and change direction you can capture it most consistently. I'm linking a time stamp in a walkthrough for the game where this other guy describes how he does it. This really helped me out.

3. Using the D Pad to move between the controls is a little faster than using the stick to move the cursor from one button to the next. Not necessary for getting this achievement but after so many replays of this section...anything that speeds up the process for me was welcomed.

4. The Walkthrough for this game is awesome!!! However I would suggest making a manual save right here on the screen to grab these little buggers, that way when you reload you don't have to go through repetitive dialogue and walking to get to this point.

Happy to improve this if anyone has a suggestion. Not that I care about negative votes, but if you actually care about helping other people...then comments that help me improve it will have that effect. Just down voting something because you didn't like it or whatever reason ends up hiding guides through the TA process...and if there isn't another guide you just hosed other players from any help they can get. Just something to consider

I think it's needed to make a manual save in the tapestry room before entering the vent. I made a save in the rescue screen, finished with no mistakes, then the achievement didn't pop. So I saw on PSTrophies that people say you need to make a save in the tapestry room. I reloaded my save from that room, did a flawless rescue again, and this time it popped.

I know the walkthrough mentions this, but doesn't stress its importance. Better safe than sorry and save some frustration.

I would like to point out that waiting until both are heading in the same direction towards the right corner is what helped me the most. There will be multiple points where you will be able to see that they will intersect on the right corner, and I found it to be the easiest to time

I don't know if this will help anybody, but maybe:
-The 3 aliens are always moving at the same speeds no matter what order you approach them. Bottom is slowest, upper-left is medium, upper-right is fastest.
-Your first attempt is slowest, second is medium, third is fastest.

So if you wanted, you could go for the fastest alien first when you are moving slowest. And then you could go for either medium alien or slowest alien when you are going medium speed or fastest speed.

IDK why but this helped me. It's easier to target the fastest alien when you're going slow. But no matter what, it's still hard to target any of the aliens when you're going fast.

Like Gunstar Red said, I had to make a manual save in the tapestry room before doing the rescue mission in order for it to count towards the achievement.

Initially, I made a save in the rescue minigame screen and completed it with no mistakes, but I didn't get the achievement. So I reloaded my save from that room (the one with Marek in it), went back through the vent into the tapestry room, made a manual save, then went back and completed the rescue mission again with no mistakes, and the achievement popped for me afterwards.

If you mess up and need to try again, load the manual save from the tapestry room.

You may want to edit your guide to reflect this, just cause I've seen quite a few people on various sites saying they had the same issue, and that manual saving from the tapestry room solved it for them as well.

Followed this guide, used A Lone Wolf's tips about going for the fastest one first which made it much easier (the middle one was still a pain), having made a manual save from the tapestry room where I reloaded from each time I failed ... and no achievement. I did the other two rescue missions perfectly the first time both times, so... no idea. Not popping at all.

Thank you, the tip on timing the right side is brilliant, got it first time using that after untold previous attempts.

Shay Act 1

While this trophy is based on an unmissable storyline event, it is perfectly possible not to complete this puzzle flawlessly, therefore the trophy itself is missable. It is, in my opinion, the hardest trophy of the game.

There are three rescue missions where Shay must rescue creatures from the universe in a mini-game that reminds me of those crane machines that you would find in any decent seaside arcade. You cannot miss at any time -- you must pick up each creature on your first attempt. These videos show all three rescues performed flawlessly.

First mission: After talking to Marek for the first time, you are given a Star Chart for the Talon Nebula. Take the Star Chart to the Space Weaver and he will transport the ship to the Talon Nebula. Create a MANUAL SAVE here. If you miss the two creatures on your first attempt, you can reload this save.

Second mission: Immediately after the first two creatures, you must go on another mission to Danger System 5. Take the new Star Chart to the Space Weaver. After he has transported the ship to Danger System 5, create a MANUAL SAVE again. There are five creatures in this mission. If you miss any of these creatures on your first attempt, you can reload this save again.

The third mission requires you to travel to Prima Doom. Before you can do this, you must regain control of the Boom Arms, place the Inhibitor on the Fusion Orb and force the Space Weaver to take the ship to Prima Doom. I advise that the last activity that you complete is to take the ship to Prima Doom. Once the Star Weaver has shut down, make a MANUAL SAVE. If you have to reload this save, there is minimal distance to travel to get back to Marek's room.

In the third mission, there are three creatures to rescue. Both the Boom Arm and the creatures are moving fairly quickly, so the chances are that you will need to reload your manual save. If you manage to rescue the first creature on your first attempt, make a MANUAL SAVE so that you don't have to retrace your steps to get back to the controls. While you will have to rescue all three creatures again, the game will still think that you rescued all of them on your first attempt and will award you with the trophy.

If you have to reload a manual save, DO NOT enable Auto-Save as this will overwrite your file. However, if you are successful after reloading a save, you will need to make manual saves from that point onwards because Auto-Save has been disabled.

Don't ever miss an alien with the grabby arm. Save before each section where you are saving creatures, and load if you miss grabbing one.

Note that you will leave behind an alien in the first sector due to the enemy ship no matter what you do; this is unrelated to this achievement.

Missable

In Shay Act 1, you will meet Marek early on and he will get you to do rescue missions which are simple claw arm type mini games. The first is just after you give the Space Weaver the first Star Chart and will be relatively simple as the creatures will be static.

The second will be slightly harder as the last two you creatures you save will be moving.

The third rescue starts after you have used the Inhibitor on the Fusion Orb, used Grabbin' Gary on the Boom Controls and tricked the Space Weaver into taking you to Prima Doom. This one is harder, with the creatures moving fairly fast.

To get the trophy you need to complete all three of these missions without missing a single creature. You have to grab one every time you press the grab button. There is no easy way to do this but use manual saves and if you miss one, exit to the menu and try again though fortunately the loading screens aren't very long.

MISSABLE

Shay - Act One

After you meet the wolf, he will give you a star chart to give to the weaver in the next room. Do this and return to start the rescue mission. After the second time, you will have to finish a few tasks to finish the third rescue mission.

There are 10 creatures to rescue. Make a manual save before leaving the weaver room to start the rescue. Also, you can save while in the rescue screen, but I would suggest that, if you do do this and make a mistake, don't save and exit. Instead, dashboard and reload. I had to finish this achievement twice as the save and exit way did not unlock this achievement for me.

It is necessary to complete without errors all the missions to save the Creatures that Marek gives to Shay. There are three such missions in total. The first should not be difficult; in the second, a moving creature appears for the first time. Well, in the third they all move back and forth, and the further, the faster. Don't forget to save before approaching Marekuz with the next mission and load if you missed.

In the third mission (the only one causing problems), the bottom creature moves the slowest, the top one moves the average, and the one on the right moves the fastest. From attempt to attempt, the speed of the hand increases, while the speed of the creatures remains the same. Therefore, the most optimal thing is to grab the right creature first, then the top one, and finally the bottom one. It worked out for me almost immediately, while my friend’s combinations didn’t work out.

You can save, but when loading this save, salvation begins from the very beginning. So there is no point in this.

The trophy is not a story-driven one and is an easy-to-miss trophy.

The first two games will be played in a row, but the third will be a little later in the story (Marek will be standing next to the computer)

Just in case, “without errors” means capturing each creature on the first try (pressing the capture button). According to the plot, we then lose some creatures - this is how it should be, you don’t have to be scared :-) In the third mission there will be three creatures - the first of them is the most difficult to grab. We visually catch the moment when the grip and the creature move almost synchronously. It's easier to grab closer to the edge.

Also, after each successful capture, the game can be saved.

Each time the speed of the hand increases, while the "creatures" move the same way. I advise you to first catch the bottom one, then the one on the right, and finally catch the top one - it’s much easier.
