To unlock Bull, you need to win a run in Danger 1 (which is required for another achievement).
Bull cannot equip any weapons as he is the weapon! He is easier to build/play than he looks and will probably be one of your easiest runs. Not having to worry about any weapons and being able to ignore a bunch of useless stats makes Bull very streamlined.
STATS TO IGNORE:
- Dodge (you need to hit the enemy to explode)
- Attack Speed (has no effect here)
- Range (has no effect here)
- Crit Chance
- Life Steal (not needed)
STATS TO TAKE:
- ALL damage stats: Melee/Ranged/Elemental/%Damage (your explosions scale equally for all damage types; 300% each to be specific!)
- HP Regen (you start with +15 as a bonus; stack as much as possible and you will be near invincible)
- Max HP (you start with +20 as a bonus; works very well here)
- Armor (you start with +10 as a bonus; works very well here)
Basically just run into your enemies and 'splode them to death. The following items are super helpful but not mandatory:
Dynamite (+15% Explosion Damage)
Explosive Shells (+60% Explosion Damage)
Plastic Explosive (+25% Explosion Size)
I was able to kill the boss at Danger 3 by standing on top of it (I stacked tons of HP Regen) but if you can't kill it just run around the edges of the map until the timer counts down.

EXCellent write up! And I'm really glad one of the first things you mention is that it's going to be easier than one would expect. I was dragging my feet on this one since it seems hard at first glance.
Also want to mention that I happened to get the item that makes your attacks set enemies on fire, along with the one that spreads fire quicker... That helped a bit.
It's pretty interesting, one of my favorite characters so far for sure. For the first 10~ levels you can mostly just stand around letting enemies zoom in for a hug and then watch them explode.

You'll need to unlock Bull first by winning a run on Danger 1 which also unlocks
Select this Brotato before a run and complete it by killing the boss/bosses on Wave 20. Difficulty or Enemy settings (in gameplay options) do not matter.
For an easier run play on Danger 0 with Enemy settings for Health, Damage, and Speed to 25% which is the minimum setting.
For an average or more difficult run play on Danger 5 with Enemy settings at default.
For survivability be sure to build items/upgrades with Max HP, HP Regeneration, and Lifesteal bonuses. Building items and weapons that synergize with your character's stats is recommended.
