There will obviously be many viable ways to successfully complete a run with this character.
Personally I found Shotgun the way to go.
Due to the restriction of being limited to only one weapon, the Shotgun is ideal because it allows you to stay ranged still and it has good spread allowing you to still take out many enemies at once.
You can supplement the build really well by getting a lot of turrets and things to boost engineering.

Shotgun was great. If you can land on some elite or boss damage bonuses, you melt through elites and bosses.

One-Armed can only carry 1 weapon, but with a high attack speed. So focus items that make you tankier, and boosting the damage output of the attacks you do have. I started the run with the Ghost Axe, for the +1% damage every 10 kills, at around round 14+ I swapped it out for the Nuclear Launcher with the carried over attack increase which was about +200 at that point. Any kind of Explosive weapon will be good to deal with the hordes of enemies for the rest of the run.
