Since this character has significant downgrades to damage and accuracy, most projectile weapons aren’t very effective. However, he gets additional two additional projectiles as a perk. That makes the shotgun a pretty effective weapon. The additional projectiles make for a broad spread, so you don’t have to be terribly accurate - just close. (A strong melee build might work as well, but I didn’t try it).

I equipped multiple shotguns and combined them as needed to slightly offset the damage nerfs, and added turrets (which aren’t affected by the lack of accuracy), alien eyes, and slingshots (due to ricochet damage). Since once can’t rely entirely on accuracy when the enemy levels increase, I put a few points into HP regeneration and dodge.

If you want, you can make this easier by playing at difficulty 0, and by utilizing sliders in the menu to downgrade enemy stats.
