Go to Career > Load Bowler > Career Events > Tournament Listings. Choose the Beginner's Ladder Tournament. This tournament is available from the start. There is a 1 game qualifier. If you place in the top 2 in the qualifier, then you will bowl a 1 game match in the finals. Win the finals match to unlock your first pair of shoes and get the achievement. I had to bowl a 130 to qualify first and had to bowl a 130 to win the final match. CPU scores will vary.
