More of a guide for the boss,
It has 56 HP, but no additional defense (on normal). Susceptible to poison, and can be tough to freeze.
It can be a fairly easy boss, I went in without preparing, just visiting Venus to recover HP and MP.
(Don't forget to Spy on the boss)
Using Ice is highly effective, and will allow Kabbu to do an extra point of damage.
My method was to use Leif's 'Break' skill, then relay Vi's turn to Leif, have Leif use one of the skills to freeze the boss, and then finally use Kabbu (Heavy Strike if you have the MP) and repeat until you run out of MP. I had a few MP items, so I repeated 3 times (I was rank 15, 17 MP, 16HP on Leif and Vi, 19HP on Kabbu).
Attacks are fairly easy to block:
- one cast 2 slow moving spores, you'll need to block twice
- two others are similar to Leif's skills, Frigid Coffin and Icefall)
- another where the boss will go underground and trap a party member in a while pool, mash A to escape, and use Leif to unbury the boss.
At some point, when the boss is low on HP, it'll make an ice wall in front of itself, Kabbu will need to break it, should take 1 attack (assuming you deal 4 damage).
The boss will also cast numerous speed and attack boosts on itself, giving it 2 moves per turn.
The easiest counter, for me, was all out attacks. Debuff with 'Break', Icefall or Frigid Coffin (Leif), and Heavy Strike (Kabbu), and Tornado Toss (Vi).
