How to unlock the Combo 1000 achievement in Bullet Beat - Definitive Guide
Update NOV 20
All you have to do now is play endless hell mode and the achievement will pop relatively quickly. I think I got up to 8000 or something.
Old Guide
If you're struggling with this, I found a way to just hold the A button down. On level 6, get yourself trapped by the smaller black boxes toward the center. The bigger boxes will go into your shot path, and the smaller ones keep latching on to you. Multiplier between x2 and x5 was occurring about every second, so I think the small ones add to your total even after they fall off.
If you're still having trouble, it's probably because your shot path is taking out one of the side nodes that open the red circle or the power up that kills everything on screen. The power up is just bad luck as it takes several passes to remove the side nodes. Just try again it again as I was successful at 4/5 attempts.
You can see in the video at 1:05 that it got a little dicey when the right node fell off. They regenerate after some time so just keep going if it happens to you.

I can't get much higher than 500.
The power ups always trigger the buttons eventually and then there will be no small enemies to keep my combo going.
Was it a specific spot where you wouldn't get as many powerups? I was trying center bottom and a little higher.

I did 500 fine this way but lost it about 700, any further tips appreciated.

This can be easily done on level 6. Way better than endless IMO
Stay in the middle and just keep shooting the small enemies
Don't kill enemies too fast or there will be a gap and you'll lose your combo

Play endless mode, it’ll be slow at first, but eventually the game throws so many power ups at you that you’ll get 1000 very easily by level 35. I had a combo of 1870 on level 34. The boss fights are the real money makers for your combo. The 34 boss fight has over 1500 enemies total so you’ll at least get most of them! Don’t give up and keep on blasting! Don’t focus on your combo meter, instead look for power ups and keep shooting. The cross beams are the best.
OR
Play level 6!
The boss fight spams enough enemies at you that you should be able to muster up a 1000 combo without having to bother with Endless. Just focus on the enemies instead of the boss and you can farm away.

Very easy game to complete. This is a full guide with strategies to complete this quickly
I also included my own video with this guide.
Strategies
1. You know you're hitting what you're supposed to be hitting if sparks fly off of it.
2. On casual you are a bullet sponge. So just hit your target. Don't worry about dying.
3. When you destroy enemies you get power ups and health.
4. On level 4 when you get to the orange block wall. Just shoot at the block that sparks when hit.
5. You can just hold down the A button to rapid fire.
6. On level 8-3 just shoot the red bomb that keeps falling from the sky.
Combo 500 and Combo 1000 achievements
The best level to get this on is Level 6. When you get to the boss on this level. Stay on the bottom middle of the screen a inch from the bottom of the screen. Just shoot straight up at the barrier that's shields the red target on the boss. You will have black squares from both sides coming at you. When they touch you they'll paralyze you. Just keep shooting. When you destroy them they'll drop power ups, shields, and health. You will notice your multiplier going up on the side of the screen. At X500 and X1000 you will get your achievements. You can get this on your first playthrough of level six or come back through level select.
How to beat level boss 6
On the left and right of the barrier that shields the red target. There are 2 black squares buttons you need to destroy. This will temporary remove the barrier over the red target so you can shoot it. The square buttons spawn black squares that come at you. Shoot the squares to get power ups, shields, and health. Keep repeating the process to defeat the boss and level 6.
Just beat every campaign level on Casual.
To get all other achievement.

Here is my 100% Achievement guide for Bullet Beat!
You can either play on endless or for a much easier and shorter time, play this on level 6.
You come up to the boss who is a big red button but is stuck behind a barricade.
NORMALLY, to beat this boss, you have to hit two buttons either side of him, BUT what he does, is throw a ton of enemies at you which we need.
This one, took a few attempts, i tried staying in the middle, flying about, avoiding the enemies, but as i got to 500 combo, my weapon would be overpowered and i ended up releasing the red button and having no other enemies at me.
What i did, in the end though was as it begins, i stayed BANG ON in the middle of the screen at the very bottom of the screen and let the enemies come towards me.
It got to a point where i couldn't actually move, but every second or two, the big blocks would attach themselves on me, then explode, with all the small ones around.
So that was my tactic and it seemed to work, and took me around 5 minutes or so.
So hopefully, if your having issues, following my advice will hopefully help you out!

VIDEO GUIDE:
There are a lot of guides with similar advice, but I was still struggling to get to 1000 after several attempts. After a lot of trial and error, I finally found a method that worked for me. Using this approach, I got to 1200 the first time and I was consistently able to get to 1000 on additional attempts afterwards.
First off, as stated by every guide for this achievement, you'll want to do this on the level 6 boss on casual.
The key to making this work is your position. Contrary to what the other guides say, don't just stay in the center.
When you get to the boss, move to the bottom middle, then move to one side and align yourself so the outer edge of your ship approximately lines up with the edge of the red "button". I chose to move to the right. This movement is important because if you stay dead center, you will inevitably get the split-shot power-up and end up hitting the two side buttons on the boss. Doing that causes the boss to start firing at you and stops the enemies from spawning, which will cause you to lose your combo. You may still end up hitting one of the buttons, but you shouldn't hit both.
--------------------------------
Edit:
I originally included some advice for using the beat of the music, which worked better for me when I was just staying in the center. However, it's not necessary. As long as you use the positioning described above, you can just hold . Using the beat (it IS called Bullet "Beat") is fun and can be helpful in other areas, so I'll leave that info below for now.
Don't just hold the entire time. If you do this, you'll end up destroying the enemies too quickly and you'll lose your combo. Instead, follow the beat of the music. On each beat, press and hold for about 3/4 of a second. The timing should come naturally as you listen to the music - the hold time should coincide with the length of the beat. The enemies spawn with the beat, so doing it this way ensured I never ran out of enemies and consistently got me to 1000+.

Select Level 6 - at the very end of before killing the Boss:
Make sure you are the bottom in the middle and hold you A button pressed until you've reached 1000 or more.
I did 2000 just to show you holding the A button works just fine.

With the release of title update 2, this has become very easy.
Load up a game on endless hell. Hold down A and move with LS to avoid death. Should take no more than 30 seconds if you obtain good early weapons.
Load up a game on endless hell. Hold down A and move with LS to avoid death. Should take no more than 30 seconds if you obtain good early weapons.
This and all of the over achievements like this are easy on endless hell.
This is by far the easiest method. go to endless hell and make it to level 2 and go side to side hitting as many power ups as possible and holding the A button. below is a video showing how to obtain the achievement.
Note that, while the base game achievements require combos of 500 and then 1000, the first title update has achievements for 250 and 666, and the third title update has achievements from 1500 all the way up to 3500. As a result, use the strategy below but don't stop when you reach a combo of 1000 for this achievement. Continue on until you reach a combo of 3500.
By far, the easiest method of getting extremely high combos is to play Endless Hell mode. There is a nonstop massive swarm of enemies coming in from the top of the screen, meaning it's virtually impossible to lose your combo as long as you keep shooting. On top of that, there will be powerups galore, meaning you'll be shooting in multiple directions hitting enemies everywhere, allowing your combo to shoot up at an incredible rate. Because you'll be getting health powerups too, you'll be able to survive plenty long to get a high enough combo for all related achievements. No real strategy is necessary; just hang out near the bottom of the screen, strafing back and forth, and focus on picking up powerups rather than worry about where enemies or bosses are. They will get shot unavoidably.
The following video demonstrates this strategy and how fast and easy it is to rack up a huge combo without much effort. Full credit to its creator.
