How to unlock the Firestarter achievement in Burnout Paradise Remastered - Definitive Guide
It is pretty simple. Either take down someone, or be taken down by an another player to fire up a rivalry beetwen each other. You don't have to take down each other vice-versa or anything like that, either way if two new player destroy each other who haven't met before will automatically ignite a new rivalry. Very important to note: It only works while you are in Freeburn mode. If the host start a challenge, a race or any other game mode, the rivalry won't count - no matter how many times you take down anyone, or how often you taken down by others.

Does it need to be 50 different rivals?

Another way of getting this achievement if you have commitments away from gaming is to create an open lobby and leave it running whilst you go to work, for example. People will then join your lobby, crash into you, and then leave. Rivals progress will count. I made some good progress this way. It will take longer of course, but this is certainly another option.
This needs to be 50 different rivals.

*ONLINE*
To make an online rival you need to crash into another player which will start a rivalry with them. Sometimes this doesn't always set off a rival with another player so it takes a few goes, but you have to do this with 50 different players. Just keep crashing into players until it unlocks, you can keep track of your progress from the start menu.
