Cumulative. Once you open up the Tournament mode just score 40K. You won't know how much your total is unless you keep mental track, you'll get an avg. of 8-15k per round. Once you reach 40, the achiev will unlock. It's rather easy, it's like a constant wing shooting mini game. Lots of Hunter Sense will help as well. I preferred the shotgun.

Shotgun is easier. If you run out of bullets, just switch to any other shotgun and it will have its own ammo. I'm not sure, but I think you have 4+ shotguns in your arsenal. More than enough.

To add to what Phuture909 says, to make things easier do it on the easier difficulty so each bird will be a green square on your radar. You can use a pistol as it acts like a shotgun but with more ammo.

If you run out of bullets with the shotgun just switch to any other shotgun and it will have its own ammo. I'm not sure, but I think you have 4+ shotguns in your arsenal. More than enough.
