Calico

Hello there, ladies and gentlemen. Today we'll be looking at the "Animal Charmer" achievement in Calico.

Below is a text explanation of how to achieve this, but if you are interested, there is a link at the bottom of the solution to a complete Video Achievement Walkthrough and a complete Text Achievement Walkthrough that you can follow start to finish in about 3 hours.

This unlocks for picking up all of the different Animal Types in the game, and you need to press Up on the D-Pad after getting all types to pop the Achievement.

HOWEVER

It appears that this Achievement has NOT been re-coded to reflect the recent Pawesome update that added more Animals and new Animal Types. It also appears that the Fox is not required for this Achievement, either, despite being one of the original Animal Types in the first builds of the game. Below are the 12 Animal Types required.

1. Cat
2. Dog
3. Bunny/Rabbit
4. Bird
5. Red Panda
6. Deer
7. Polar Bear
8. Capybara
9. Raccoon
10. Ferret
11. Horse
12. Pig

I have now tested this 4 times and never needed any Animal Types other than those above to pop this Achievement.

This means that the Fox, Goat, Cow, Sheep, Opossum and Alpaca types are not required for the Achievement. If you go through the game getting every animal as early as you can(keep in mind there is one Animal in Heart Village and two animals in Cutie City that you can't get until after the Credits run), you'll be able to unlock this Achievement after getting the Ferret(Kovu), your first Horse(Horsey or Horsey 2) and your first Pig(Jiggles, Wiggles, or Piggles) in Clover Coast. Again, open the Animals tab for the game to pop the Achievement.

Below is a list of all 63 Animals, divided by each area. There is no real order to the list, and keep in mind that Forest Spirit Cat/Morgoth in Heart Village and Mister Snuggles and Calico 4D in Cutie City cannot be gotten until after the Credits run and you can talk to Rosa. This makes it possible to finish Xin's quest which will make Mister Snuggles appear, and gives you the Flying Broom so that you can reach Forest Spirit Cat/Morgoth and Calico 4D, which are up in the trees of Heart Village and on top of the purple building in Cutie City, respectively.

NOTE: The game is still rather glitchy, so its not a bad idea to make a Save right before finishing anything that will pop an Achievement so that you can reload if an Achievement doesn't pop correctly.

Heart Village(13 total)

1. Calico - Cat - Wandering around your Cat Cafe in Heart Village
2. Tiger - Cat - Stand on the red bridge outside of your Cafe, face the Cafe, and follow the path in front of it right until it splits. Follow it to the right at the split down the stairs and along the path to a grove of trees where Tiger is wandering
3. Aussie - Dog - in the trees between the rock slide/entrance to Snowbell Mountains and Maia' TreeHouse
4. Char - Cat - wandering around the front and back of the Community Center and Maribel/Estelle shops in Heart Village
5. Stanford - Bunny - in the white fencing next to Ash's house
6. Poe - Bird - after crossing the bridge to Autumn's Mountain, Raven is hopping at its base
7. Boots - Dog - small black dog wandering in the woods left of Raven the Bird, and also left of the Cat Butt in the Log/the log that leads to Golden Grove later in the game
8. Crow - Bird - wandering the area outside Autumn's glass container
9. Patches - Red Panda - next to Mayor Kiva's house
10. Starshine - Chicken - Right next to Patches, wandering near Mayor Kiva's house
11. Chompy - Cat - Leave Lily and Poppy's house and follow the path left to find Chompy
12. Pudgems - Cat - on the hill with Sunny and Blossom, near the edge that overlooks Lily's House, usually
13. Forest Spirit Cat/Morgoth(I'm including both names for this Animal because the name has changed between them multiple times now, and I'm not sure if it may change again in the future) You need to fly to be able to get this Animal, which means you can't get them until after the Credits run and you can meet Rosa who gives you the Flying Broom. The "Big Small potion" that works on Birds will also work, but that requires a few extra steps, so the Broom is the easier option. You can't pick them up so you need to press Y near them to Mount them for it to count. From the entrance of the Cafe, follow the path left, then right down some stairs when it splits. Follow the path around to a grove of trees where Tiger the Cat is, then look up in the trees here to see a LARGE colorful Cat. Fly up above them, drop off and land on the platform they are on, then jump near them until you can press Y to Mount them and mark them off your checklist

Snowbell Mountains(13 total)

1. Tap Dancer - Deer - in the first clearing in Snowbell Mountains after destroying the landslide
2. Rusty - Cat - take a left at Snowy Deer, then cross a bridge and head up a hill, and you'll see Rusty wandering here
3. Mama Polar - Bear - wandering the woods near Freya's House in Snowbell Mountains with her 2 cubs
4. Polar Baby - Bear - wandering the woods near Freya's House in Snowbell Mountains with their Mama and Sibling
5. Baby Polar - Bear - wandering the woods near Freya's House in Snowbell Mountains with their Mama and Sibling
6. Marshmallow - Dog - wandering the woods near Freya's House in Snowbell Mountains, South of where the Polar Bears usually are
7. Hoots - White Owl - Hopping right next to Freya's house in Snowbell Mountains
8. Sugar - Fox - from Freya's house, return to where you came up the hill and look right. Instead of going up the hill, stay right and follow the path to a broken bridge where Arctic Fox wanders
9. Harvey - Bunny - Down the hill before entering Lumi's Spring Building
10. Yukiko - Dog - either on the front porch of Lumi's Spring or upstairs inside
11. Cappy - Capybara - small Capybara that wanders Lumi's Spring
12. Captain Bara - Capybara - large Capybara that wanders Lumi's Spring
13. Friendo - Capybara - large Capybara that wanders Lumi's Spring

Cutie City(9 total)

1. Flappy - Bird - wanders between the two buildings behind Malcolm in Cutie City
2. Tricksy - Raccoon - wanders the playground South of Malcolm in Cutie City
3. Scruff - Goat - Wandering just South of(under) the large ramp in Cutie City that leads up to Heart Village
4. Merry - Cat - on the middle street in Cutie City, between where Lee and Xin usually are, about 1/2 up the street from the bottom
5. Trash King - Raccoon - across the street from Merry is an alley where Raccoon eventually wanders in Cutie City
6. Ms Kitty - Cat - Near the Arcade building on the boardwalk in Cutie City
7. Ollie - Dog - wanders the beach off the boardwalk in Cutie City
8. Mister Snuggles - Ferret - Wanders around Xin in Cutie City AFTER completing the "Saving Mister Snuggles" Quest that Xin gives you. This Quest cannot be completed until you can visit Rosa in the Witching Woods, which means you can't pick them up when you first visit Cutie City
9. Calico 4D - Cat - Calico 4D stands atop the second-tallest building in Cutie City, which is purple. You cannot reach them until you get the Flying Broom from Rosa, so you won't be able to get them on your first visit to Cutie City

Clover Coast(10 total)

1. Vibes - Cat - head due East from the stairs leading down into Clover Coast to find Vibes
2. Kovu - Ferret - Southeast of the stairs leading down into Clover Coast is a large Ferret
3. Horsey - Horse - Further Southeast of the stairs leading down into Clover Coast is a large Horse, Horsey
4. Patch - Dog - Patch is very small, and can be hard to see, but it almost directly on a line from the stairs leading into Clover Coast and the lighthouse
5. Marigold - Cow - Slightly Southeast of Horsey, Marigold is fairly easy to see wandering between Horsey and the Lighthouse
6. Jiggles - Pig - North of the beach umbrella on the beach in Clover Coast
7. Loaf - Cat - near the beach umbrella on the beach in Clover Coast
8. Horsey 2 the Sequel - Horse - South of the beach umbrella on the beach in Clover Coast
9. Wiggles - Pig - further South of the beach umbrella on the beach in Clover Coast
10. Piggles - Pig - even further South of the beach umbrella on the beach in Clover Coast

Golden Grove(9 total)

1. Electra von Snugglybutts - Cat - immediately seen after walking through the log to Golden Grove
2. Focsimile - Fox - from the bridge leading from Clover Coast to Golden Grove follow the path further into Golden Grove to see them wandering
3. Penny - Cat - continue along past Fox to see the path split, Penny is in-between the paths here
4. Country Oinks - Pig - further past Penny is Boar wandering around
5. Murphy - Dog - Large Dog past Penny and past Daisy's house in Golden Grove
6. Cloudy - Sheep - Further North past Murphy you'll cross a small stream, watch on your left as you follow the path beyond it to see Cloudy wandering
7. Dear - Deer - SouthWest of Gabby's House in Golden Grove is a pond, and South of the pond Deer wanders near the hill down
8. Todd - Opossum- Wanders around Gabby's House in Golden Grove, if they aren't in front, they can wander behind it
9. Mister Bear - Bear - From in front of Gabby's House, go around the house, down the hill and follow the wall left to find Mister Bear.

Witching Woods(9 total)

1. Tiny - Cat - after moving the Giant Cat in Golden Grove to head into Witching Woods, the path will turn left and go up and down a very small hill, Tiny the very small Cat is right after the small hill
2. Tac - Cat - past Tiny in Witching Woods, follow the path to see Tac in an inverted color bubble
3. Ranger - Dog - past Tac in Witching Woods on the path to Rosa's, there's a place where the path splits, Ranger the large Corgi is wandering here
4. Bootes - Cat - by Rosa's house in Witching Woods
5. Roly Poly - Cat - from Rosa's in Witching Woods house, turn around and follow the path back to the split, then head left. On the right you'll see Roly Poly, a Cat rolled up in a ball, moving
6. Softy - Alpaca - Hard to direct in text, but further past Roly Poly on the same side of the path is a hill. On the way up this hill you can find Softy wandering
7. Unfamiliar - Cat - further along the path with Roly Poly on the right, you will see a large Black Cat wandering on the left
8. Myspace - Cat - continue following the Path with Roly Poly and Black Cat and look left to see a pond that a waterfall drains into to find Myspace here
9. Ghost Dog - Dog - from Myspace the Cat, facing the pond, go left up a hill to find a path. Follow this right up the hill, and near where the path ends you'll find Ghost Dog

Again, just getting any animal from each of the 12 Animal Types and opening the Animal Tab by pressing Up on the DPad will unlock the Achievement.
