Hello, ladies and gents. Today we're going to be looking at the Big Solution achievement in Calico. This achievement unlocks for Clearing the entrance to Golden Grove.
Below is a text explanation of how to achieve this, but if you are interested, there is a link at the bottom of the solution to a complete Video Achievement Walkthrough and a complete Text Achievement Walkthrough that you can follow start to finish in about 3 hours.
NOTE: The game is still rather glitchy, so its not a bad idea to make a Save right before finishing anything that will pop an Achievement so that you can reload if an Achievement doesn't pop correctly.
You can trigger this Quest by introducing yourself to Kai at the lighthouse in Clover Coast. There is a GIANT Cat Butt inside a log behind Autumn's Mountain and you can run into this at any point during the game. You can do this as soon as you head to Autumn's Mountain for the first time early in the game, but if you don't, you'll need to return to the log after talking to Kai, and then return back to Kai to let her know there's a Giant Cat Butt blocking the log.
Kai has an idea, but needs your help. She had a special item delivered to Estelle's shop and requests that you pick it up for her. So head to Estelle in Heart Village, tell her "Special Item for Kai" and then return to Kai and select "Here's your giant lens". This will start a very easy mini-game where you need to move the laser into the crosshairs and keep it there for a few seconds. You'll see the log "explode" and a Giant Cat leap over to the laser to play with it. You'll be returned to the lighthouse, so chat with Kai once more and say "It worked" to unlock the Achievement.
