How to unlock the Flip Flop achievement in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare - Definitive Guide
I got this with 2 players, me and a friend. We did it on the map Bio Lab, with him running the Light class and me running the Heavy class. The best spot we found to survive in was the starting area with the Exo upgrade station. Camping in the back of this room near the windows gave us a clear view of all the enemies rushing towards us (with the exception of the drones that shot at us from behind). I recommend maxing out your damage and armor as soon as possible, this is vital. I also recommend completing the reward waves (Defuse the bombs, collect dog tags, etc.) for extra points. If you feel like you can't do the objective safely without dying, try killing enough enemies so that there's 3 or so left, then do the objective (this doesn't work for defending the hardpoint however). As for weapons, I stuck with the Laser gun most of the game and bought a BAL just in case. I found the Laser gun with the heat sink upgrade worked really well for me. After you max out your damage and armor, get the Stim exo ability (important) and max out your exo ability stat. One other thing to note is that you get to keep all of your stuff if you happen to die and respawn.
Here's what we did during the final few waves: During the waves we camped out in the place mentioned above and used Semtex as well as the Stim ability if we were close to dying or just felt unsafe. Since my friend was running the Light class he used the UAV at the beginning of each wave to further help us. Now if you start to become overrun (either by the drones behind you through the windows or the Goliaths that spawn in certain waves) you will want to retreat through either the right doorway or down the left staircase (depending on where the major threat is coming from). In between waves we refilled our Semtex and re-bought the Stim ability to instantly recharge it. At this point we had like 30-40 extra points so refilling these was no big deal. The achievement will pop as soon as you see the message that says Map Flipped.
This was the strategy we came up with and it worked well for us. If you have any questions or need clarification on anything just write a message in the comment box below and I will get back to you. Thank you and I hope this helps!
To get this achievement you must hit wave 25(2) (which is basically wave 50) every time the game hits a new "flip" it will say 1(3) or 1(4) the (0) in () is the current # flip you're on.
First off use the lightweight class (perfect class due to exo-dodging from side to side)
you can dodge with your exoskeleton indoors (but press once and then direction of your choice to dodge in.
Now as for my tips the easiest map I have found so far would be
Detroit (Teir 1)
Instinct (Teir 2)
Solar (teir 3)
The EASIEST MAP would be Instinct, there are a lot of areas to dodge and avoid enemies.
Now, the main goal is you'll just want to camp in the very back caves (at the back of the map) and just try to stay in there. (run out if too many are coming and start doing trains around the map (similar to nazi zombies) don't let the enimies build up though, just avoid them and let them chase you where its easier to take them down.
This strategy is flawless and I myselff have gotten to wave 88 offline (but still got the achievement) when I came online.
Now as for tips.
Max out your armor first (armor will keep you alive longer) the highest level to max out your gear is level 10 max out your armor and then your weapon. When you max out your weapon (your weapon will do x2 - x3 more damage)
now last but not least your weapons (the most important part of the fight)
KP5 is a piece of garbage after round 5, so upgrade to the BAL-25, and then when round 10 comes have your second gun exchanged for the HBRA3.
You'll want to upgrade your armor first and then your weapon second.
Another very important tip, when the drops come keep getting UAV's and Goliaths.
During difficult waves (you think you might die in) activate your Goliath, if you die in the Goliath you wont go down, you'll still be alive (you'll just respawn in a different area) Just think of it as an extra life.
but don't constantly keep calling in your killstreaks (save up all four of them) and then let the drops keep dropping perks (fill up all of your perks until you can't carry any more) and then call in your killstreaks.
This strategy is by far flawless and can easily get you the achievement. It will take around an hour or so to do on solo, but at least you wont have to worry about lag or teammates constantly going down.
(Sorry for this being so long, but I really hope this helps.)
More or less 2 hours.
Positive vote for you.
- Switch out exo ability for cloak and use it when it gets hairy.
- Alternate upgrading Weapon Proficency and health/Armor.
- After that, then max out Exo ability.
- Switch out frags for Semtex (helps with ASTs)
- Hold on to all scorestreaks until you max out on perks. Upgrade Turret to include grenades (for ASTs) and Warbird to attacker or defender.
- Drones wont mess with you much until after the first flip. Leave them until the end of round and attack with pistol from inside building around corner.
- Ignore challenges unless you feel comfortable with odds (I usually ignore dog tags and hardpoint, but go for defuse and intel). If it looks like you will fail then haul ass back to your perch before timer expires in case you get a System Hack (it is such a good spot that even "pistols only" isn't that much of a problem), I suppose nano swarms could potentially be an issue but I was pretty lucky with placement. If you fail and get a turret defense system then clear them out (mele works well) at end of round.
I think that's it. I know the video makes a big deal about dropping the Goliath pod in a particular place but I never thought it was even that important to use it at all. Figure it will take 3.5+ hrs.
1. Uninstall COD.
2. Switch the Xbox One to offline.
3. Reinstall while offline.
4. Start a local game on Retreat, or whatever tier 1 map you prefer. (It may say that your save data is old and if you would like to reset progress, which I said yes to, not sure if this affects your MP status)
5. Pick any class (I preferred the lightest class for speed) and play through!
A couple of points...probably down to pre-patches.
1. Enemies don't hit very hard at all.
2. No satellite challenges.
3. No plane shooting you.
4. No nano-swarms.
5. Enemy Goliath's don't have rockets.
6. Your standard heavy laser is OP! (I got this when I had the all guns perk). Use this on the Goliath for near-instant death!
7. You can collect/defuse objectives while cloaked.
All this makes the game incredibly easy.
It took me 1hr 25mins and 44secs. Just die in the second round of the 2nd flip, go online again, and the achievement will pop mid update on the game.
By all means, if I am missing any vital info, or you have any questions, please let me know.
Here's to my fellow achievement hunters
The best map to do the Flip Flop achievement is Greenband, there is a rooftop across the Exo Upgrade Station that you can camp on and have the enemies come for you, I did this with one other guy and we got all the way to Level 24 after we flipped the map once.
I ran as Heavy (Laser is literally the best weapon for Survival mode) and he ran as a Light for the use of the UAV, came in handy depending on what wave you were on. And the only upgrades I did were on my Exo until I maxed out weapon proficiency and Armor, Once I maxed out those I started upgrading the Laser. It's easy as hell.
We didn't do the objectives besides the dogtags and the defuse bombs, once there were 1 or 2 enemies left one guy would distract the enemies so he could defuse them.
But really you don't need to do them if you don't think you can do it.
Also the drones flying around aren't a problem, most of them can be taken out pretty quickly from a distance with the laser from the rooftop.
Hope this helps! :)
Ok so there isnt that much info going around about this glitch and when taking into consideration the age of the game I can say its a safe bet this wont be patched anytime soon.
So if you are like me you own the digital version of the game and are unable to use the offline no patch method in the other solutions, after browsing Youtube i found this glitch that makes survival a lot easier. Its fairly easy to set up and i will try to explain it as simple as possible and then include some videos and screenshots for reference.
Now this method I've only tested in co-op and just used the first available map "Bio-Lab"
Here are the steps you need to do in order, This can work for 2-4 players.
1. Start a co-op survival match with your partners, either online or private match.
2. Once the map loads up have all players select the Heavy Exo class.
3. Next have one player run to the edge of a map.
4. Once there hold LB to hold out your riot shield, while you are still holding out the riot shield jump off the edge of the map to kill yourself. Make sure you still have at least one player alive at all times.
5. Once the player who jumped with the riot shield re-spawns they will now have infinite riot shield. The player themselves wont be able to see it but all other players will. this is what it will look like
https://screenshotscontent-t4001.xboxlive.com/000900000cac4b...
6. Now repeat the steps 3-5 for the rest of the players. In 2-4 player games everyone should have the shield by round 3.
7. Like i said you cant see your own shield but other players in the game can, confirm with your partners your shield is showing.
Now with this glitch you will block most if not all damage that is coming directly in front of you, as if you were actually holding the shield. You WILL still take damage from the sides and back. This doesnt give you god mode but makes getting flip flop 10x easier after all the updates made to this game that made it harder.
If you go down and respawn you will still have your shield, you can switch your exo ability and class and still keep the shield, the only thing that takes it away is hoping into a AST(mech suit).
NEVER jump into your mech suit upgrade, the only thing you should use it for is to block the doorways of the middle building like shown here
https://screenshotscontent-t5001.xboxlive.com/000900000cac4b...
in my co-op game we just bunkered down in the middle building with two player on each side(the room with the weapons upgrade station), occasionally a player would go down but we never struggled and got the flip flop achievement in about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
When the AST enemys come have a player distract it then have another player melee the AST to kill it, it takes 4 melees to kill a AST, just run up to him, melee, back up and recover then repeat till dead.
Make sure every few rounds you upgrade your armor and weapon proficiency to max, then buy EM1 weapon attachments like heat sink and grip.
Here is a video on how to do the glitch thanks to YouTube User "icYFTL"
In order to get this achievement, you need to get to wave 25(2), which is really wave 50. You are able to go down once and get a free revive.
I employed a tactic similar to PS4Trophies, but with a different map. His video is here.
Instead of playing on Comeback, I decided it would be better to play on Instinct. Instinct has a cave system in the top part of the map (press start to see map) which is great for killing enemies in. Use the heavy class and make sure to keep your initial laser rifle.
I would recommend upgrading in this order. (Weapon Proficiency/Armor/Exo Cloak -> Goliath -> Battery -> Heat Sink)
Make sure to start every wave in the caves and use the tactic in this video. The strategy is to just constantly check both entrances. The left one tends to have more enemies.
You should be able to hold the enemies off, but when you get into trouble, use your Exo Cloak.
When support drops arrive, take the Goliath if possible. The unmanned score streaks are a good second option. (turret/drone) Use the Goliaths from the score streak drops only in a pinch. Never use them when you don't need to. The heavy class Goliath, which recharges, is always the bottom most one.
On about wave 20, you need to start using the Goliath. I would highly recommend using it before then, especially when enemy Goliaths come. Rockets are devastating on them. Use the same strategy in the second video, but with the Goliath. The rockets are great in this section. Fire them at enemies that group up in the choke points. It's very easy to kill 2-3 enemies with each rocket.
Make sure to leave one enemy alive at the end of the round so the Goliath can recharge.
Using this strategy I was able to get to wave 50 in about two hours with no downs. I hope this solution helps you, and if you have any suggestions, please put them in the comments.
All credit to this guy for finding this glitch I just thought it’d be helpful to post here.
You just load up on defender with the specialist class and kill all but one enemy in wave one.You must keep that one guy alive for about 5 minutes. You can check time in game by hitting back button. Around the 5 minute mark a siren will go off in game notifying you that there’s waves coming in. At this point you shoot the last enemy and place your turret gun down and run to tunnel shown in video. Make sure your fast in the killing of enemy, turret placing and running to tunnel bc the waves come in pretty fast. Just lay where he does in video and hold X to control turret. Stay on turret for a 10 seconds until you don’t hear the the sirens anymore and hold x to get off turret. You will now respawn with light exo class and will have unlimited lives when you die. I read that you can lose this ability by entering a Goliath so I stayed away from all score streaks. You will also lose unlimited lives if you hold a grenade too long and kill your self. Don’t bother buying weapons or attachments bc everytime you die you lose them. I would just spend your points on weapon proficiency, armor and your class battery as you do not lose them. I also read that if you do not complete the defuse the bomb rounds that enemies will stop spawning causing you to not finish the round and making you restart. What I did to make those rounds easier was wait by the exo skeleton box and whenever it was a defuse round I bought the exo cloak ability and if you use that while defusing it makes your life easier. You can usually defuse one without the cloak but then enemies flood in so you want the cloak for the other two. Keep in mind when you die your abilities reset so if you had cloak and die you will have to go buy it again. I hope this guide helps and feel free to reach out to me for any questions. You will die a lot but this makes it a lot easier as you can respawn. I finished mine in about 2 1/2 hours with very little trouble.
Now the strategy I used to get it Solo was to play on the map bio lab on regular difficulty, using the Light class, and to keep circling around the map, while stoping briefly to take out enemies here and there, I strongly recommend to NOT camp or stop in any place for too long, Enemies will surround you so quickly if you don't keep moving, only stop briefly. I also recommend to not put to much focus on objectives (dog tags, intel, defusing bombs) they will give you more upgrade points if you complete them but your main focus should always be surviving, Also if there's a round that turrets spawn, try take them out as quick as possible, even during rounds work on getting rid of them.
Now for upgrades, Only upgrade between rounds. I always wait until round 8 before I use any upgrade points, I sometimes have to use some upgrade points to refill ammo if I get unlucky and enemies don't drop one of those green ammo boxes, but I try avoid that if possible. So anyway on round 8, I purchase the ARX-160 over my pistol and also got the Extended Mags attachment on it. I found that gun to be very effective for me personally.
Then after fighting through to wave 10, I then went and purchased as much Armor as I could and also put a couple of upgrades on weapon proficiency in Exo stats of the Exo upgrades console, and continued to upgrade them both until they were both maxed out at 10. Focusing on armor first but also giving some love to weapon proficiency. Once you have them both maxed out you should notice a huge difference in how strong you are and how quickly you can drop enemies.
After they're both maxed out you can finish upgrading your weapons with stock and grip upgrades.
Just keep circling the enemies around the map as best you can until that second map flip happens, It was challenging for me at first as enemies can swarm you pretty quickly at points, if you notice its happening try just sprint away, but after you understand Exo survival its really not to bad.
Good luck all :)
You need to flip a map twice in one match, so you need to get to Wave 25 once so it goes back to Wave 1, then get to 25 again. So technically, Wave 50. The best way to do this is to play a map you are familiar with (preferably one with lots of buildings and cover), and to play solo or with 2 players max. We managed to get to wave 69 on the Tier 2 map, "Comeback". This map has lots of buildings and rooftops, so you can easily get away from enemies, goliaths and drones. When you play solo or 2 player mode you have a lot more health than you would if you were playing with more players. With 4 players, you die very quickly so playing with many players can make this trophy harder if anything. On solo, you can die once and you get self revived. With multiple players, you can revive each other as much as you like. That is one of the biggest disadvantages of playing solo. Below is the loadout I had, when I reached wave 75.
Recommended Loadout:
- Class: Light Exo
- Primary: Bal -27 (Switched to Pytaek LMG when I got the weapons free perk. Buy extended mags)
- Secondary: Atlas 45 (Switched to EM1 when I got the weapons free perk. Buy heatsink)
-
Exo Upgrades
- Weapon Proficiency: 10
- Armor: 10
- Battery: 5
- Ability: Cloak
-
Killstreaks
- Goliath (Fully Upgraded)
- UAV (Fully Upgraded)
- Aerial Support Drone (Fully Upgrades)
- Warbird (Fully Upgrades W/ AI Control)
You won't be able to get this loadout until you are a fair way into Exo Survival, but this is what I used and found to be most effective. Make sure you focus on upgrades for your weapon proficiency first, as well as armor. Also, make sure you only pick the Goliath, Drone or Warbird from the support drops. Here's some general tips and tricks to help you out in Exo Survival:
- Exo Class - Out of all the classes, the Light Exo is probably the best choice. You are able to run much faster, and air dash so you can easily escape when you get overrun by enemies. The other two classes lack this speed and agility, so you will find it hard to escape from enemies if you need to. While the game says you have less health as a Light Exo, I didn't notice that much difference. If you are more comfortable with another class, then feel free to use it. But, we think this is the best class to use. Avoid the specialist class as you are restricted to sniper rifles and shotguns until you get the weapons free perk, which can take a while as it is luck based. If you don't like using the Light Exo class then pick the heavy one. The Heavy Exo has the goliath killstreak attached to it which is the best killstreak you can have in this mode once it is fully upgraded.
- Weapons - This is up to you and what you are comfortable using. All of the assault rifles work well, and so do the LMGs. The M14 is a good choice because of it's high damage and accuracy, but you won't have access to that until you reach wave 25. The first LMG you can buy at wave 3 is very good. It has pretty much zero recoil, and it does a lot of damage. It's all up to you though, just avoid using sniper rifles and shotguns.
-
Objectives - Occasionally an objective will come up during a round that will have you complete a task in a certain amount of time, or during that round. These objectives can be any of the following:
- Collect Dog Tags (Timed Challenge)
- Defuse Bombs (Timed Challenge)
- Defend the Zone (Round Challenge)
- Gather Intel (Round Challenge)
-
Exo Upgrade Station - You mainly want to spend the points you earn on upgrades to your damage and armor. It maxes out at 10 upgrades, but once you have both of them on that stat you pretty much can't die unless you mess up. To access these upgrades, go to the upgrade station and then "Exo Stats". You'll see options to upgrade Weapon Proficiency (Wave 5) and Armor (Wave 10). This will end up costing you a lot of points, but the advantages of having these maxed out if well worth the cost. In this station, you can also choose what ability you want for your exo. The best upgrade to have is the cloak. You can buy this once you reach Wave 7 and enemies cannot see you while you have it on. This is great for when you need to get away quickly from enemies, revive another player, or if you want to do the objective without enemies getting in the way.
(An image showing the Exo Upgrade Station)
-
Weapon Upgrade Station - You really don't want to be spending too may points here. Guns are the only thing you want to be spending points on, as well as a few weapon attachments like extended mag. Most of the iron sights in this game are really well done so there is no need to be buying red dot sight etc. But, if you want one then by all means spend some points to get one. You can also refill your ammo here, but enemies will occasionally drop ammo boxes which fills your ammo all the way up so there isn't really a need for it. Grenades can be useful against the stronger enemies so buy some of them if you like as they only cost 1 point.
(An image showing the Weapon Upgrade Station)
- Killstreaks - The most useful killstreaks are the goliath, UAV and Warbird. The UAV will show you where all the enemies are on the mini map, and once you upgrade it, it shows enemies through walls. This helps a lot, as you won't end up running into a ton of enemies and getting yourself killed. The Goliath and Warbird are very good once you fully upgrade them. The goliath, is great against other goliaths if you have the rocket launcher upgrade, as well as the swarm missile upgrade. The Warbird you can upgrade to fire rockets, and this one hit kills pretty much every enemy. There is an option to set it so the AI controls the warbird. I used this, as it'll seek out enemies for you then rather than you controlling it. Lastly, any killstreak that you have to manually control, while you are controlling it you are invincible on the ground. So there is no need to worry about dying while you use it. Other AI controlled killstreaks, like the drone are also useful.
- Support Drops - Once you fill the blue bar up on the HUD you will get a support drop (One if you are playing solo, two if you are playing with two players and so on). In these drops will be a killstreak, or a perk. You should always choose the perks if there is one available. These are permanent and can prove to be very useful. For the killstreak options, make sure to pick the best ones like the Warbird or Goliath if it is available for you to choose. The support drops do not expire, but make sure you get them anyway and only open them when no enemies are around so you get a chance to read what it contains without getting shot at.
If you need co-op partners, then please refer to the threads below:
PS4 Co-op Partners Thread
PS3 Co-op Partners Thread
There are two options left:
Option I. Walk honestly. This would all be ok, but if 50 waves didn’t last an hour and a half, and if you died, start over. Yes, and before Tier 3 and greenband cards didn’t really exist. Considering that any player who already has a card open can help with riot online, see point 2
Option II . It’s good that the game has a local co-op mode for survival and you can get it without a network at all.
Therefore, we use the good old method of removing the patch. But there are a lot of nuances:
1 . I haven’t found how to remove just the sampatch on PS4. Therefore, at the beginning we save your saves to the cloud on a flash drive (the old version will not understand the new format). Then we completely demolish the game. Disconnect the PS4 from the network and install it again. It installs from the disk very quickly. I haven’t checked with PSN, and I’ll have to stop downloading the update.
In general, after reinstalling the code becomes version 1.0
2. Let's launch it. We go into the exo-coop, select the local co-op, confirm the save reset.
And then a big problem emerges that in version 1.0 tiers are opened differently. If in new versions, rounds on one map are stacked, that is, 10 waves have passed 5 times in the biolab, tier 2 has opened, then here it is not. There are 4 cards, the maximum number of rounds is taken from each and added up.
3. Now, you have two options.
A. Knock out 13 waves on each map (52 in total) and Tier 2 will open, and there the well-known horizon
b. Or use a hole in the retreat map (for biolab, detroit and ascend there is a video with glitches, but there is generally a stupid exit through the map through the textures, and they didn’t work for me on PS4, most likely the video was shot on xbox 360)
The video shows how easy it is to jump onto the roof (you just have to pay attention that they jump in the area where the stand is attached to the wall and the fasteners are visible, I couldn’t do it in other places), also in the video of a bug with an infinite amount of life, it doesn’t work on PS4 . But what is important to us is how to climb onto the roof of the house.
We take the heavy class and shoot everyone from the roof; with this laser rifle you don’t even have to get down. In general, during all the waves I stayed on the first tier of the roof in the area where you can see the pool; mobs gathered below me on the street. And in version 1.0, the heavy class still has an exo-ability by default - a strike from a satellite from space. And in general, 70-80% of the NPCs from the wave are killed by the satellite, the rest are shot.
If you see dogs, shoot; if not (somewhere far away), then just wait a minute or two. If there is no one on the map except dogs, they will disappear on their own.
Take a hard class - it will be harder to kill you. It is also advisable to leave the initial gun (laser) and walk around with it until the end of the game. As soon as you have the opportunity to download armor, download it, download it all the way! You'll still have time for the rest.
Among the enhancements, shield/camouflage will be useful. The first one can take cover yourself, the second one can quietly approach and heal an ally. The most favorable cards are Ascend, Solar and Recovery. Lastly, tactics with constant movement work great.
A clearer Video Guide (en)
I'll add a little:
Upgrade your weapon and armor skills; after your numerous deaths, these upgrades will not be reset.
With a worse weapon, no matter what gun you buy and how you improve it, after your death you will be reborn with a standard gun, accordingly, the passage time increases by about +1 hour.
As for exploding a grenade in your hands, whether this glitch resets or not, I haven’t checked, but I tried the glitch with a shield, it didn’t work for me, I tried it several times, maybe two glitches in one batch don’t work.
