How to unlock the Kraken Unfettered achievement in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - Definitive Guide

The Kraken is a weapon that can only be obtained from the mystery box to my knowledge. To get this achievement, you must kill 9 zombies with one shot from the Kraken.

Getting the Kraken to drop from the mystery box is probably the hardest part of this achievement, but once you do get it, it's not that hard to kill 9 zombies with one shot. I recommend attempting this achievement on casual solo. You can use bots if you want but I found it to be easier without bots because they tend to kill the zombies that you are trying to herd into a group.

The Boiler/Turbine room, the cargo hold, or the dining hall are all great places to chain up a group of 9 or more zombies due to how compact the areas are, especially on later rounds where hordes of zombies are chasing you around. Once you get a big enough group of zombies chasing you, then let them have it!

I got the achievement with a standard version of the Kraken and I do not know whether or not you can get the achievement with a pack-a-punched version. If anyone knows if you can get the achievement with the p-a-p version then please feel free to comment.

UPDATE: Excalibur0126 says that you CAN get the achievement with the pack-a-punched version of the Kraken.

I just cannot get this, Im on round 29 and ive been trying since round 13. I tried it with the normal Kraken.. nothing. Then with the elemental upgrade.. nothing. Then I pack-a-punched it and still nothing. Any tips or hints to help me out? Or am I missing something?

Are you playing with modifiers on? If so then try playing without them. That's the only thing I can think of.

Nope just playing a solo on casual, no modifiers. And I got the achievement for making it to round 20 without draining the water in the same game so idk

Yea. I was trying from round 20 to 30 and couldn't get it. Maybe it is easier to get it in earlier rounds

Ive been mowing down groups of zombies with this thing and it nothing. I did get my kraken from the mystery box, maybe you have to get it the hard way for it to count. or its glitched

i pack-a-punched it and killed 12+ with it in 1 shot and got the achievement.

I got a couple of other achievements that didn't "pop" on screen but when I checked my achievements total, they were there. Maybe you got it? Just a thought and happened to me with the Stowaway and Swimming with Fishes. I re-did them 5 times and got frustrated because they didn't pop on screen but I got credit for them.

That also happened to me with a few of the achievements. Some of the ones from the Classified DLC didn't pop for me so I didn't think I got them until I checked my achievements and I saw I had already earned them.

Got it on casual solo rnd 20. Pap'ed. Killed like 20 zombies in 1 shot. Unlocked instantly

Hmm not sure then. Maybe you have to kill EXACTLY 9 enemies with one shot. I'm not sure and it's not likely but the achievement doesn't say 9 or more, it just says 9. I can't confirm this though, I didn't count how many zombies I killed when I got the achievement.

When I got the achievement I was playing on casual with 3 bots and was able to kill a big group of zombies in the boiler room with the normal default version of the Kraken. Maybe you could try to replicate what I did. Just keep trying you should eventually get it.

The Kraken is the Wonder Weapon for Voyage of Despair. The gun acts like a mini cannon of sorts. Like with the IX Wonder Weapon, you can get lucky and obtain this from the box, or you can do a quest to get it guaranteed.

  1. Kill a Stoker by shooting its weak point, it should drop a key.
  2. Find a treasure chest around the map. This can spawn in the State Rooms, Turbine Room, Mail Room, Galley or Provisions, use the key to open it. Now kill zombies near it until it closes. Depending on the location you might be tight on space so be careful not to get overwhelmed. Repeat this two more times at other locations.
  3. After filling the third chest, it will close for a moment then reopen with a clue to the Kraken's location. Each location has a brown crate somewhere on the edge of the boat.
    1. Binoculars - Forecastle
    2. Globe - Mid Deck
    3. Pliers - Aft Deck
    4. Compass - Boat Deck
    5. Telescope - Poop Deck
  4. Approaching the correct crate will cause a tentacle to emerge from the water and drop the Kraken onto the crate.
  5. Once you actually have the Kraken, you'll want to group up the zombies in a relatively open area, the Poop Deck is probably your best bet. Once a good amount of zombies are together, fire at them. If you’re lucky, at least 9 of them will die.

The Kraken needs to be upgraded for 5000 in the Improver and then the trophy will drop without any problems.
