How to unlock the I’m on a Tank! achievement in Call of Duty: Black Ops II - Definitive Guide

Step by step guide

VIDEO GUIDE FOR THE TANK LOCATION

- Follow the video guide to the tank which is located in the bunker. To get to the tank it will cost you approximately 5750 points ( i.e.750 points for the first door, 1000 for the second, 1250 for the first workshop door, 1500 for the door that leads outside to the excavation area and for the final door 1250 which leads to the church (bunker) and ultimately the tank.) Altogether you will need to accumulate around 8000 thousand points. This is to compensate for the M14 wall weapon, points for doors and points for the tank (When the tank cools down you need to pay 500 points for a second time).

- The tank can be accessed only from the rear end and can be jumped on with the A button. However you must kill all the zombies near the tank as when they jump on they sprint really fast and will overwhelm you very easily.

- Pay 500 points to use the tank and make sure to have a lot of ammo.

- The tank will stop partway through the journey but you must not jump off and kill the zombies. After about 2 minutes at a stand still the vehicle will move again and continue the journey.

- Your achievement will unlock after completing a full circuit of the map when the tank once again travels to the bunker. I would advise you stay on the tank until the achievement unlocks as my achievement had a delay that may affect whether you unlock the achievement at all.

TIPS: If you are playing solo buy a large quantity of ammo for the journey as there will be a larger swarm of zombies than if you just stayed on foot. Also buy juggernaut as there are many obstacles barring your way to the tank such as tight corridors and the zombies themselves... obviouslysmile. Also if you don't have enough points dig up dig spots with the spade. This can give you that gun you need or a few additional points.

If you go down and you get revived on the tank you will still get the achievement. Thanks to xMvP RAMPAGEX for the info.

If you have any improvements leave them as a comment and i will update as necessary with mention to your gamertag. Overall it is one of the easier achievements on this map.

Edit: Darth Maul FTS suggests using a zombie shield to hold on your back as it protects against zombies that may sneak around from behind and makes a noise if hit which creates and alert. I will also add that it is a one hit kill weapon.

At the half way point I jumped off to get the tank (Grabbed a max ammo), yet still got the achievement. Not recommending anyone try it since it clearly goes against the description, just pointing it out in case there is a small margin of error or I simply got really lucky.

Something that may be worth adding:
If you do this on a low round, I just did it on round 6 and 7, at the end of one round (for me it was 6) I left one zombie alive and ran him around in a circle on the tank while it cooled down. When I activated the tank again, I killed him and had a fairly simple ride to the end. It also helped that I had Monkey Bombs, but they aren't necessary if your weapons are good. Mine weren't all that great. Hope this helps!

I've failed this twice is a row now, because of that armored flamethrower skeleton zombie. Once the tank is stopped, there's zero way to dodge his flamethrower, so I'm downed instantly.

OK, third time's a charm. Made sure to get to round 8 first, so I could kill the armored zombie, so he wouldn't spawn while I was on the tank.

I did this with the zombie shield on my back that way your backside is protected for awhile plus you can hear the zombies hitting it so you know when they are behind you. Didn't know if u wanted to add that, anyways great guide a thumps up from me

Just in addition to this, it seems you can actually die outright and still get the achievement. I set off on the tank by myself and was downed during the cooling off period. One of my friends jumped on the tank to revive me, at which point I died. They then stayed on the tank for the rest of the journey and I (and only I) got the achievement. In essence, there was always someone on the tank and I never stepped off the tank, I don't know if that's supposed to happen or not but it figures if everyone gets on at the start then as long as someone is alive at the end then everyone should get the 'cheevo.

You have to ride the tank in a complete circle! You can NOT get off the tank at any time. However, you can die if you stay on the tank! Here is a video guide for this achievement! Hope this helped!

This is my own guide that I recently made for this achievement.

> Make it to the Excavation Site by opening the door in the top floor of the Workshop.
> Find the tank under the Church behind the Excavation Site.
> Purchase a ride on the tank for 500 points.
> The tank has two stops - the Church and the Tank Station; the tank will "cooldown" at the Tank Station for about two minutes.
> DO NOT GET OFF THE TANK.

Please watch the video as I show you the easiest way and exactly how to get this achievement! If you have any questions, please ask, thanks :D

Start an Origins game by going to Zombies > Excavation Site 64 > Dig Site > Origins

Do this in the low rounds.

Get decent weapons either from the box or the wall.
To power the box simply capture the generator beside it.

Find the tank on the ground floor of the church reached by
exiting spawn room,
proceeding though the trenches,
upstairs through the workshop,
out into the dig-site and around the left-side board walks,
left through the cemetery and into the church.

To get on the tank double tap A when you are BEHIND IT to jump on.
When everyone is on the tank activate the tank for 500pts.

Ride the tank full circle (until you return to the church) - do not at any point get off the tank! Zombies will try to climb aboard from all sides but only three sides when stopped, most from the rear.
There will be an approximately 5-minute cool down period when you are half way around the map during which the tank will stop and you will have to restart it for 500pts.
Wait until the tank stops inside the church.

Pop goes the cheevo.

Happy hunting

this is what i did and it worked for me. first off get the perks quick revive and juggernaut.
get the parts for the maxis drone

drone parts
brain - right at spawn
frame[/u] - either in the path where the tank drives out of or on the other side where it comes back in its near a sign with skull and bones if not there its out on the backside of the church in the tunnel that leads under it
rotors either on the top of the excavation site. the bottom of the stairs that lead down or the bottom of the spiral staircase.

you can either go back after it charged and get on the tank what i did was go around the map and get the 4 gold records 1. at the spawn broken trench on fire 2 generator to the right when you enter no mans land 3 on the church where the tank is 4. on the excavation site. after all 4 of those are collected it drops a pack a punch weapon for you let the drone run out of charge and wait for it to be replenished once it replenished pick it up and hop on the tank ride the tank around if at any point you get overwhelmed let the drone out it will help you out tremendously i let mine out at the first stop when the next round started while waiting for the motor to cool off. once cooled off pay 500 more credits and your off again hope this helps

Riding the tank without getting off can easily be done at the end of a round. Simply have one person hold the last zombie, make sure you have 1,000 points, and get on the tank making sure not to get off until it arrives back at church. The tank will stop behind the station at generator 2, and will cool down for approximately 3 minutes. If you are doing this mid-round be sure you have plenty of ammunition before attempting this.

Note: An awesome tip for the Panzer boss units is that they cannot climb, shoot, nor kill you while on the tank. This is great for getting them down while remaining untouchable.

You could of course call the tank from behind the station at 2 and then ride it all the way back around until it returns to 2 if you desire as well.

the tank is located under the church. To turn it on you need 500 points. Halfway around the circle it will stop, wait 2 minutes and again pay money for it to go. After arriving at the church, jump off and wait for the trophy.

You just need to drive around the map without getting off the tank. The tank will stop midway due to engine overheating and will stand for about 5 minutes, maybe a little less. It is better to play with two players, so that one player runs with the last zombie, and the second completes the achievement.
