How to unlock the Kung Fu Grip achievement in Call of Duty: Black Ops II - Definitive Guide
He has 3 attacks: he can use a flamethrower, he can attempt to strike you, and he can grab you with his claw. The achievement requires you to free both yourself and a fellow player when he grabs you/them with his claw.
In order to cause him to release someone you need to shoot the Panzer Soldat's left arm. The left arm is the one which he shoots the claw from. It seems you can make him drop you using any weapon. I've even made him drop me using the starting pistol.
This achievement requires more than 1 player.
Easy is recommended.
Have Juggernaut and a good weapon.
The Panzer Soldat is a smaller version of the big massive robot. He spawns randomly on different rounds. In the higher rounds 2 Soldats spawn at the same time. So I recommend doing this on lower rounds.
When the Soldat spawns it runs around it will fire a chain at you which catches you and pulls you in. You have to shoot at the Soldat while it's pulling you in to free yourself. Now let the Soldat catch your teammate then shoot it to free him.
I was using the Ray Gun Mark II when I unlocked this.
One of his attacks is he launches a claw at you and pulls you towards him if it catches you. He does this often when you are running away from him. If he grabs you with his claw, you have a short amount of time to break free before he downs you. To break free, you need to shoot his arm.
Assault Rifles, Sub-Machine Guns, Ray Guns, etc. are very good for this achievement. It is possible to break free with your starting pistol, so don't worry too much.
Once you have freed yourself and a teammate from his claw, the achievement will unlock.
*Thanks to SinistrBetrayal for the spawning tip.
Just some quick tips before attempting this:
- Try to do this on the earliest round the panzer appears because it will be harder to attempt with 2 panzers running around
- Try to do the training method i show in the video that way it is easier
- Also try to leave a few zombies so you don't have a full horde of zombies on you
- Both players can do this in the same round, also the achievement itself can be done in one round
- If you fail doing it in one round don't worry since you have the entire game to do it
Here's the method my buddy and I used:
I discovered that if you DO NOT open the door leading to No Man's Land, the Panzer will NOT spawn, even on round 8 or later, until you do. So what we did was make it to round 8 and whittle the wave down to 2 zombies. Shortly after going into No Man's Land, you'll hear the sirens go off (yes, it doesn't seem to matter that it's still mid-round) and you'll be able to deal with the Panzer mostly zombie free!
I highly recommend using the location in the video provided by GaMeRcHiK44 below, as it's a nice perfect square to run around.
I have been able to do this several times, but some confirmation would be much appreciated.
Panzer Soldat is a new boss (much like George in BLOPS I Call of the Dead map) who will spawn periodically throughout your experience in Origins. One of his three attacks is the claw in which he fires a claw that can grab you and will pull you back to him. The achievement requires you to free both yourself as well as someone else from his claw attack in one game. This is easiest when done in a big group where you can have someone hold the last zombie and have the people working toward the achievement. When he gets someone with his claw attack there will be a red dot area where his claw used to be on his body. In order to free yourself from his grip simply shoot that area and he will drop you/your teammate. The following are the confirmed waves of Panzer Soldats.
Wave 8- 1 Panzer.
Wave 11- 1 Panzer.
Wave 14- 2 Panzers.
Wave 18- 2 Panzers.
Wave 22- 3 Panzers.
After throwing Maxis into the hole you threw the airstrike grenade on during the Easter Egg 2 per person Panzers spawn.
The panzer is a new ‘boss’ enemy similar in structure to BioShock’s Big Daddy (for those familiar with that game). He is 1.5 times as tall as the main characters, wear white suites and have a helmet with a circular, flat face cover. They will hit via melee, or through their flamethrower, or through the hook. All depends on your location vis-a-vis his. It’s during his use of the grappling hook that you must go for the Trophy.
The panzer will ALWAYS spawn at round 8 onwards, and at 3-4 rounds intervals, sometimes more than one will appear, depending on the number of players. As he approaches, if you are close but not within his hands’ reach, he will use a flamethrower. If you sprint away in a direction with little manoeuvre, he will launch a grappling hook from his arm, which, if it attaches to you, pulls you in. When it does that, as he pulls you or your partner in, from the arm that launches the hook there will be a glowing red dot. This is his weakness point. Shoot at it and he will drop the player. You have to do this while he is grabbing you, and also another time while he is grabbing your partner.
Here's a video demonstrating it (credit to Rooster Teeth for this):
On the eighth wave, the boss Brutus appears (he has 2 weapons: 1) a flamethrower; 2) a claw (what we need)), we run from him until he grabs you with his claw, when he grabs you, he drags you to him, into this moment you need to shoot at the red dot on his hand and he will let you go; the same with the 2nd player: he grabs it with his claw, and you shoot at the red circle
