How to unlock the Showdown achievement in Call of Duty: Black Ops II - Definitive Guide

Hi Guys,

here is my Solution for this Achievement. You need 4 Steps until you earn this.

Step 1: In the Mission "Karma" let DeFalco Escape with Karma
Step 2: After this, dont play the Strike Force Mission "Second Chance"
Step 3: In the Mission "Achilles Veil" you Kill with Farid Harperr, not try to shooting Menendez
Step 4: In the Mission "Odysseus" in the "Briggs" Shooutout. Farid kills DeFalco, DeFalco kills Farid and you earn this Achievement automatically.

Thats the simple or :) The Major Problem is, have you one of this Steps different because you dont know before you read this Solution, you must used the new Storyrewind as from the Mission "Karma"

Well, you play for 1 Achievement Mission 6-9 again und lose all your Storyprogress from Mission 6-11.....

And because its "nice" to play this SP again and again, for the Achievement "Good Karma" you need different Steps in the same Mission 6-9.

Regards

PS: sorry for my english, german :)

you can use the Reset at every Mission and save your progress before this Mission but you lose the Progress from this Mission to the End. For this Achievement, use the Reset at Mission "Karma".

How come you state the fact that you are bad at English because of you're German in every solution? How is that a reason for bad English?

He doesn't mean pick "new campaign" at the menu, on level select you can press RB (i think) to "rewind" the story back to where it was at the start of the mission you have selected.

Guys everyone read this use REWIND STORY don't start a NEW campaign or EVERYTHING in the campaign will be permanently gone, Intel, side-missions, progress and every mission completed on veteran will be GONE so never ever pick a new campaign, just rewind the story and play again til the end for achievements like these.

Let me get this straight, I should do this as soon as I got the "GOOD KARMA" by the end of mission 9 right!? Then go back to the main-menu, REWIND STORY and do 6-9 again the other way or should I continue first and complete the entire campaign since I've collected all 27/33 intels so far. Thanks for any reply.

I think it's cool you choose to write guides even if your english isn't perfect, it's the hardest damn language to learn. Don't let ignorant people like l L3giOn l discourage you from writing in the future. Video games are a universal language for us geeks anyways lol

I think the community could do without these. Let someone who can speak english make the guide. If you want to make one, make it in german and people who speak german will appreciate it. I hate trying to read into extremely broken english, especially when misunderstanding it can waste alot of game time. No offense, just my opinion. Frankly, none of your guides have helped me... I just scroll down to the solutions below yours...

Then write your own Guide and post it, sorry i´m german and english is not my Language and i know that is horrible for Members like you but 90% can read and understand what i mean and that is this Point in my Opinion.

ok i used rewind story and then i replay missions 6 through 9 in seperate sittings. so when i hit continue story it always takes me to the first mission. so if i was on the first chapter on the chapter select screen. then i rewound my entire story to there and have to replay missions 1-9 for this achievement? im thinking and thats what im going to do but if anyone knows for sure i'd appreciate them letting me know. also, i already got giant accomplishment should i just hit new story?

Okay reading all the posts on this cheevo, got me thinking.
Let me try and explain something.
In the first posts its questioned why the writer states he's German, and he's sorry for any inconvenience... Later posts showed why the writer chose to do so...
Remaining the "bad" English..
If u ask me it makes perfect sence, since im dutch i speak both english and german. And the writer is simply putting English words in senteces the German-grammar way.
point 1-4 is all that matters, thankx for the guide, ill be trying it asap.

For those of you who are having trouble understanding this guide...

Complete the mission called Karma, but do not catch up to DeFalco at the end. Let him escape with Chloe. You'll know when you're too late, when his name blinks red very quickly.

Now, reach the mission called Achilles' Veil. Kill Harper. Complete the mission.

Finally, reach the mission called Odysseus. Play through the mission as you normally would. When you take control of Menendez, walk forward until he takes Briggs hostage. Watch the scene that plays out. Salazar should kill two friendlies, leading to Farid shooting DeFalco in the gut. DeFalco then shoots Farid in the shoulder. Your Achievement should unlock immediately after.

Ok so I did the Good Karma achievement first. All i did was rewind the Karma chapter and played through letting Defalco escape. Then all you do is continue story just dont play the Strike force missions. Kill Harper in Achillies Veil.keep continuing your story and when you get to Odysseus the outcome will come out like its supposed to. Achievement unlocked. remember you only have to rewind from Karma just continue story from then on. Great guide thumbs up from me.

What's with all the negative votes? because he's German? all that matters is that he provided this information

Thats all I needed to know to get my achievement, +1 from me

It's actually easier than what's posted before me. Showdown has to be seperate from the "Good Karma" and "Ship Shape" achievement. All I did to get the achievement was ignore ALL Strike Force Missions. Anything aside of the story should be avoided completely if you're going for the "Showdown" achievement. My method is much easier.

1. In the mission "Karma," let DeFalco escape and kidnap Chloe. If you get too close, he turns around and forces you to shoot it out with him, making you kill him which ruins the achievement.

2. In the mission "Achilles' Veil," Farid must survive at all costs. That means killing Harper (who is voiced by Michael Rooker from the original Black Ops Zombies!) and not shooting Menendez.

3. In the mission "Odyssey" It doesn't matter what else you've done or what you do now. You could have headshot Mason, burned Harper's face off or discovered CIA presence in the coke lab under the citadel. You just need to fight until you watch the cutscene where Farid and Defalco shoot it out with each other. Feel free to shoot Briggs in the face to celebrate!

Note: If you've already done a Strike Force Mission, you can rewind to the mission "Old Wounds". Follow the story and don't do any other missions and your achievement should pop!

Yes you rewind the story to "Karma" let DeFalco get away DONT do the second chance mission then carry on to Odysseus mission. Shot Briggs in leg and get the "Ship shape" achievement you will also get the "Showdown" achievement.

Just to add to ZasterModa123's solution, it's possible to shoot Menendez to get the "Ultimate Sacrifice" achievement, and as soon as the achievement pops up, reset and load, and then kill Harper. You'll restart from your last checkpoint and you won't have to do the whole mission again.
Call of Duty: Black Ops IIUltimate SacrificeThe Ultimate Sacrifice achievement in Call of Duty: Black Ops II worth 20 pointsOnly one can survive.

This achievement is semi-missable in that the decisions you make over the course of the campaign determine whether or not you can earn it. It is earned at the end of the mission Odysseus if your decisions stack correctly, and there are exactly three things that influence it.

A) DeFalco must live. This means letting him get away in the mission Karma, because catching up to him will trigger a shootout and you will kill him. When the marker on DeFalco is flashing red and not moving at the southwest corner of the mission area, he has "gotten away".
B) Karma must not be rescued. You cannot kill DeFalco as mentioned above, and must ignore the Second Chance strike force mission.
C) Farid must live. You must hit cn_X to kill Harper in the mission Achilles Veil.

Now continue to the Odysseus mission, and when you reach the server room where Menendez holds Briggs hostage, a scripted shootout will simply play out as required to earn this achievement.

The other strike force missions have no bearing on this achievement whether you complete them or not. The only thing the strike force missions do is causes China to ally with the United States at the end of Achilles Veil, and they send a drone fleet to prevent the Obama from being destroyed at the end of Odysseus.

Here is the same solution as Zasta 360GameTV but a better video and better english :)
Step 1 - Mission 6 "Karma" - Let DeFalco get away at the end of the mission. Just wait until he is in the aircraft. DO NOT play the "Second Chance" Strike Force Missions. Karma must not be rescued.
Step 2 - Mission 8 "Achilles' Veil" - Kill Harper during the interactive cutscene.
Step 3 - Mission 9 "Odysseus" - If the previous steps were done successfully you will get the trophy / achievement during the cutscene after meeting Admiral Briggs.

Here is my guide form my channel, Toslow Gaming. In order to get Showdown, you need to do certain things in a sequence. On the mission "Karma" let Del Falco escape. After that, the strike force mission "Second Chance" will unlock. Do not complete it! In the mission 'Achilles Veil" shoot Harper. Finally, in the mission "Odysseus" wait till Farid and Del Falco fight it out.

This is an achievement that takes a few steps between a few missions. Make sure you get this achievement on your veteran walkthrough! There is another achievement with sort of opposite steps. Please read "Good Karma" for more information on that. It is important that for you to get the achievement, you rewind the story. Go to replay mission and hit  and it will rewind so you can change the outcome of the story in the end while keeping all challenge and weapon progress.

  1. Defalco escapes in "Karma."
  2. Skip Strike Force mission "Second Chance."
  3. Kill Harper instead of Menendez in "Achilles Veil."
  4. Spare Admiral Briggs in at the end of "Odysseus" by shooting him in the leg.

*Missable trophy*

At the very end of Mission 6 "Karma" you can either go after DeFalco and catch him, or wait until he is gone. For this trophy you have to let him flee. Do not go after him, just wait for some while before you move to the last checkpoint.

In Mission 8 "Achilles' Veil", during an interactive cutscene you can decide whether to kill Harper or Menendez. Kill Harper (but be quick, if time runs out Menendez will shoot you)! You are not allowed to complete the Strike Force Mission "Second Chance". Keep playing until you meet Briggs during Mission 9 "Odysseus". The trophy will pop during a cutscene. You may not skip any chapters in between these. If you've missed any of these steps, then you can still rewind the story back to Mission 6 in mission selection by pressing . However, if you make use of this option you will have to choose "continue story" and play all upcoming mission in correct order again.

In order to get a trophy for passing, you need to make the right choice.

If you made the wrong choice during the first playthrough, you can replay the mission via rollback with the desired result and replay the mission where they should give you a trophy. For example, in the Karma mission I shot a runner, after completing it I rolled back and replayed this mission by letting him go, then I replayed the Odysseus mission without rolling back and received a trophy. I hope it helped. (When you choose to start a new game, all tests are erased; checked on yourself)

Don't save Karma (skip the rescue mission), kill Harper. In the mission "Odyssey", after Defalco and Farid kill each other, you will receive a trophy.
