How to unlock the Battle Tested achievement in Call of Duty: Black Ops III - Definitive Guide

You can play normally and you'll eventually get to level 55. However, to speed things up you'll want to take advantage of Double XP weekends when they occur, and more importantly the available challenges.

When you're in a multiplayer menu, press the cn_start button on your controller and press RB to go to challenges. Navigate to the "Multiplayer" section, and you should see a screen showing those challenges which you are nearest to completing and overall progress. Each challenge you complete rewards you with a nice bunch of XP - have a look around this section of the menu and look for challenges that you think would be easiest for you and go for them in game. This might mean you need to frequently switch game modes, specialists and weapons to earn as many as possible. In most cases, you'll earn challenges through normal play, but they'll become less frequent if you don't switch things up.

To keep it simple, just take notice of the challenge which is listed as "Nearest to completing" and aim for that. Once it's completed, you'll see the next one to go for.

As KILLER1NST1NCTS suggested, consider jumping into Domination mode to start things off, since it is one of the quickest way of getting the objective type challenges.

Have fun!

Yes, that's true - domination is probably one of the easiest modes for picking up "objective" challenges, I'll add it above with credit.

I suggest playing the nuk3town playlist if trying to level fast. Especially during double xp. You can rack up a lot kills and a lot of points especially by getting kills from within objectives.

This is not fun :) Still upvote since there's really no other tips on getting better at MP.

It's the button near the centre of the Xbox controller which has 3 horizontal lines (kind of looks vaguely like the bread and meat of a hamburger)

Yeah but it looks like a hamburger lol. Maybe it was a poor choice of words, and might explain some of the down votes

Playing this game in 2023 and this achievement didn’t unlock when I reached level 55 (or when I prestiged). Going to try to get up to 55 again on Prestige 1 I suppose

Update: I got all the way up to Prestige 1 Level 55, and it didn't pop again. I was frustrated and did the "Fresh Start" option that wipes all of your multiplayer progress back to like you've never played a single match, leveled all the way up to 55 again, and finally got it to unlock. Third time's a charm! If it bugs out on anyone else, you still have hope - just have to do it all over again after Fresh Start.

The easiest way I found to get this achievement is to play on "Nuk3town" (It's a DLC map) during double experience points weekend. To find the map, go to multiplayer, bonus, and the click on "Nuk3town". I was able to get between 20-40k per game, and if your team wins then you get even more points. It should take you about 10 hours or less to get the achievement if you are playing during double experience points.

The Nuk3town is a bonus multiplayer map that comes with new copy of the game. If you got the game used then it might not be included. I included a video if you are not familiar with the map.

One of the best ways to level up in this game is to use UAV, Care Package, and Counter UAV and play Domination. If you go for captures and defends rather than just going for kills, then it should be easier to get your UAV and Counter UAV's. If you have both of those up, then you'll get 20 XP for every kill that happens, counting as UAV and Counter UAV assists. Also, make sure to use different primary weapons, so that you can do more challenges for more guns. Challenges are an easy way to get hefty chunks of XP rather easily.

As of 30/04/23, the servers of BO3 are dead and finding a game will be difficult, especially factoring in grinding to reach level 55. Other than boosting in a group of 6 on hardcore CTF, this achievement is extremely difficult and tedious.

However, there is a glitch to getting into a custom game, but being able to get XP as if in a normal MP game. The video attached will detail how to do the glitch.

To speed up levelling up, I’d advise having lots of classes pre-build and always aiming for headshots when getting kills (you will need at least 1 boosting partner) as the headshot challenges for camos (and specialists) will speed the process up.

This worked like a charm. Used an Xbox series x and an Xbox one, I did the glitch on the one cause it seemed like you had a larger time window to press the custom game to get the glitched lobby. Takes about 30 Minutes from level 1 to level 55.

All the above guides mention double XP weekends and NUK3TOWN. This is the the solution that works best if it isn't a double XP weekend or if you haven't got NUK3TOWN.

NUK3TOWN is now available to everybody for free.

There is still a very easy way to do this

Game Mode: Capture The Flag
Map: Combine or anything that isn't too big.

So what you're going to be doing is grabbing the flag and getting kills whilst holding it as this gets you +200 points towards streaks and XP. Those 200 points towards the streaks can be used to unlock scorestreak challenges
(Remember to change scorestreaks when finished with a challenge.) and you will also unlock a alot of challenges naturally, this includes the 50 wins of Capture The Flag.

Using this method you should be averaging on about 5-30k XP per game dependent on skill level. This excludes challenges. This + challenges makes about 40-100k XP per hour.

Another method you could use to boost XP is the specialist challenges. The basic challenge for the head is 800 kills. The basic for the body is 700 kills. The more advanced challenges are 20 kills shortly after using said specialist ability, the other one being 40 kills with said specialist weapon. The final challenges are getting double kills using both.
Using outrider as an example it would be 800 kills for basic gear, then for the head: Kill 20 enemies tagged by your vision pulse, followed by rapidly kill 2 enemies who have been tagged by your vision pulse, 2 times. Finally for the body: The 700 base kills, then kill 40 enemies with the sparrow, then rapidly kill 2 enemies with the sparrow 3 times.

Note: You can not do the advanced challenges for the specialists until you have gotten the base kills.

You don't have to do all of these you can just pick and mix and see what works best for you.

If there is anything you feel is wrong with the solution or anything you feel I should add, feel free to comment or send me a message.

This is trophy is a long grind and if you don't enjoy the multiplayer it could be very annoying to unlock. The best way to rank up is by taking advantages of double xp weekends that occur around once a month, completing as many challenges as possible especially the higher rank ones as well as unlocking higher level weapon camos (The ones you need to unlock gold). These tips will help you level up quicker but overall it will still be a long process.

Level 55 is the highest level you can get in the multiplayer (without prestiging). For an average player, this will take around 24 hours of playtime (as tested by Treyarch). Depending on your skill, it will likely take between 18-30 hours to do this. If you want to hasten the process, your best bet is to play objective-based game modes, like Domination, Safeguard and Hardpoint, and constantly playing the objective. It is also wise to play in Ground War, as the lobbies are larger and thus give you more opportunities to kill people. If you have access to the Nuk3town map, then Chaos Moshpit is another great source of EXP.

Regardless of what you play, a great way to gain extra EXP is to complete challenges and unlock attachments, camos and reticules for your guns. If you want to be efficient, equip an optic on your gun and go for headshots/one shot kills to unlock camos. Assault Rifles, SMGs and LMGs require 100 headshots for their camos, whereas Shotguns and Sniper Rifles require 100 one shot kills for their camos. Each optic requires 500 kills while aiming down the sights to unlock their reticules. Every gun and optic has camos and reticules that can be unlocked beyond these requirements, but they are only available after completing these previous challenges. These final camos and reticules give large EXP, so they are worth going for. You'll also get significant EXP for unlocking skins for your Specialists simply by getting kills and using your Specialist weapons and abilities, so it is recommended you find a Specialist you like and stick with them until you unlock their skins.

Like all COD games, you won't be able to boost (unless you want to get your rank reset), as the moderators are very vigilant, so you'll have to play through it normally. However, also like all COD games, there are occasional 2x XP weekends, which are usually mentioned in the forums. These are an excellent opportunity to reach level 55, and are fully recommended if you don't want to grind this out.

In my opinion, the fastest way to get this rank is the Nuk3town bonus card. This is a fan favorite map and there is constant confusion there (not a bad supremacy mode). I just don’t know if this card is in the regular edition (I have the extended edition with all the goodies).

Superiority mode, capture points and get points. In general, the cartoon came out well, so play for fun.

I advise you to play CONFIRMATION, experience accumulates quickly.

Keep in mind that the tougher guys play superiorly. It will be much easier to level up for confirmation or a team fight. But I, of course, recommend you the superiority mode for a game from 10 thousand, you can easily get it without bonuses. But that is not the point of my post. To avoid getting bored, pay attention to tests, camouflages, sights, gain prestige with your favorite weapon in order to re-accumulate experience for weapon levels, etc. All this gives good experience; if you devote time to this aspect, you can play and gradually complete your favorite challenges. And then sometimes get a great increase in experience. I sometimes received up to 30-35 thousand per game. While I was unlocking all the camouflages for one specialist, I didn’t even notice how I leveled up to level 55.

Playing with lagging servers is not much fun. So if you are lazy, expect double experience. As I understand it, he does it every week on weekends.
