How to unlock the Ground Control achievement in Call of Duty: Black Ops III - Definitive Guide
You can complete this one easily with 2 to 4 players.
Gobblegums: the only mandatory gum is that at least 2 players have several POWER VACUUMS. Other gums can be anything that will give players perks: Perkaholic, Soda Fountain, On the House, Rain Drops, etc. Another useful gum is the Crate Power.
Training Areas: The Hacker and others can run in the Biodome, One player has to run on the Moon outside by the Teleporter. This is key because since you may not hear the announcement, this player can see all 3 excavators and will know immediately when the breach is in process cause the excavator will start spinning and have blinking lights.
So, start the game like you normally would. Buy doors, hack doors, & hack box (try to get each player with some form of Ray Gun because you Will Not need to Pack A Punch the entire game. Also, don't even bother opening the tunnel 11 side as it is just a waste of time hacking doors.
On round 10 - 12, the fun starts. Have one player get the Power Vacuum gumball. If you have never used this gum all I can say is OHH MY GOD! Droppings will be laying everywhere, Nukes, 2X, Death Machines, Insta Kills, And I do mean everywhere, you can easily look forward and see 10 dropping in front of you, and your teammates are seeing the same thing in their areas. Just keep running picking these up and the rounds will all end in a minute or two and the amount of points you get is ridiculous. This gumball activates immediately and lasts 4 rounds. So, after 2 or 3 rounds, the next player needs to hit the gumball machine 3 times each round to get their Power Vacuum. The goal is make sure you have at least one power vacuum active at all times. Keep repeating this process to speed through the rounds. I've done this to the upper round 30, carrying only a ray gun and non packed a punch guns and still had no issues staying alive.
Lastly, stopping the breaches. Whenever, the breach starts, the hacker can easily make it to the start room solo. I found the easiest route is to run out to the teleporter and fall off the side so you land in the pyramid room. Run up the stairs and to the starting room and hack the one of the three consoles with the green blinking light. With all of the nukes going off, you shouldn't see a single zombie while enroute. The only thing you need to be cautious about is running in to the Space Man.
ENJOY and don't forget to dashboard at the end to save them damn gums!
There are three different excavators that can breach there different areas that can be breached.
*Tunnel 6 (Excavator Pi)
*BioDome (Excavator Epsilon)
*Tunnel 11 (Excavator Omicron)
Once you hear this message, go ASAP to spawn (not Area 51) and there are 3 consoles. Each console represents a different excavator. If you heard the message, then one of them is moving towards the area it's going to breach. The corresponding console will be flashing green. Hack this console with the Hacker to make the excavator stop.
That's one prevention done!
Now, it is random which excavator is going to breach, so this trophy can take forever. I was at round 29 and still only had the same excavator every time there was a breach.
There is a trick to this to make the odds in your favor: Once a excavator is going to breach which you already prevented before, just let it breach. You already prevented it, so you will still get your trophy. I can confirm. This way, the next time there will be the warning, it won't be this excavator anymore, because it's already still drilling in that location. So that means it's one of the other two locations.
Now, how to get through the rounds and to spawn.
Train in te BioDome, with the hacker (if you let it breach than this tactic doesn't work, you'll have to run through the labs then) and once you hear the warning (it's a bit harder to hear here) go to the teleporter and either teleport back and forth to Area 51, this way you're be teleported right into spawn, or don't and fall down from the teleporter, landing you at the MPD, then run through tunnel 6 or 11.
Once you're in spawn, either chuck a Gersch Device or pop an In Plain Sight and you can hack safely.
Good luck!
For this trophy, you need to hack all 3 excavators in a single game, and cannot let them breach the first time they activate.
There are 3 excavators in the map (one for Tunnel 6, one for Tunnel 11, and one for the Biodome), and none of them will activate until you turn on the power, so make that a priority first of all.
Once the power is on, your next task is to obtain the Hacker item. It is located in the labs and randomly spawns on 1 of the three floors, usually along the outer edges of each floor. It looks like a little brown rectangular book and it quite small.
Once you have the Hacker, you just need to survive until the excavators activate. When they activate, the background voice will usually announce it, but sometimes the volume is so quiet that it’s tough to hear it. Usually the first one activates around round 5 or 6, the next one around round 13, then again around 18. They tend to activate roughly every 5 rounds after that.
Once you hear an announcement for one, make your way to the receiving area as fast as possible! The times are usually really generous so you shouldn’t need to rush too fast. Usually, what I do is use the teleporter to earth, and then take the teleporter back to the receiving area as soon as it’s ready. Doing this allows you more time to hack the terminals before zombies spawn in. You can also use the Gobblegum In Plain Sight to give you 10 seconds to hack without a worry of dying.
There are 3 terminals for the excavators, and all of which are in the receiving area; two are located near the exit to Tunnel 6 and the other is located near the exit to Tunnel 11. Look for a green light on the terminal to know which one to hack.
After hacking a single terminal, you don’t need to worry about that one anymore for the rest of the game. You can even let it destroy the areas later so that that particular one won’t activate again later. I advise doing so because there is no pattern for which excavator activates, so it’s entirely possible that you get incredibly unlucky and have the same excavator activate 4 times in a row (It has happened to me before).
Once you have managed to hack each excavator once before it breaches, you’ll get the trophy!
