How to unlock the Tactical Specialist achievement in Call of Duty: Black Ops III - Definitive Guide
You have to get 5 kills while using a specialist ability in a single game. This can be done with multiple uses of the specialist ability in one game.
The best option that I found for getting this achievement is Nuketown Domination, if you have the Nuketown map. This is because 6v6 on a small map ensures that when you use a specialist ability, the odds of finding multiple enemies in the limited time frame are greater. It is entirely possible to do this on other maps if you do not have Nuketown.
Domination I believe is the longest gametype if one team isn't completely dominating the other team, so it is entirely possible to get 3-4 specialist abilities activated in a single game.
I highly recommend Specialist Battery - Kinetic Armor for this achievement, because when it is activated, you have approx. 7 seconds where you take no damage from body shots and can more easily avoid being killed while getting a few kills in those 7 seconds. But other specialist abilities, such as Ruin's Overdrive, work just as well.
Playing objectively (capping domination points), killing enemy players, and getting assists charges your specialist ability. For a small map like nuketown, I highly recommend focusing on kills rather than the objective point in the middle, as it usually results in death and wastes precious time that could have been spent killing someone.
If you vote negative, let me know why so that I can edit this solution if it isn't up to standard. This solution has worked great for several people I know already. (It does take some work)
Edit: epic fail 1710 pointed out that safeguard games generally last longer than domination matches, especially if there is a draw after the first 2 rounds. This makes it possible to use your specialist ability maybe 5+ times in one game. Thanks for the input!
Edit2: The Overclock Perk at level 20 reduces the time to get your specialist ability back to use again. Thanks for reminding me REDWINGS05
Make sure you don't already have your scorestreaks prior to activating the ability. As soon as you gain the ability, just activate it and get a kill or two and you should easily get 3 medals for getting all of your scorestreaks. Do that twice in any match and you have your achivement.
As someone else mentioned the overclock perk will help you gain the ability even faster.
when it is turned on all you have to do is kill 5 players in one match it don't have to be in one use . just need 5 medals you get 1 medal every time you kill a player.
i would recommend playing domination because it the longest game mode there is.
you can put on the overclock perk this will let you earn your specialist weapon or specialist ability faster
In the bottom right corner of the screen you will see a circle slowly fill up, to obtain the ability you must fill it full. It will slowly fill up on its on own, but getting points will greatly speed it up.
You must have a specialist ability equipped, not a weapon. Each ability gives you a different temporary buff, and getting kills with this buff activated is what awards you with a medal. For the following abilities, all you need to do is get a kill with it active:
Ruin- Overdrive: makes you move faster
Battery- Kinetic armor: makes you impervious to body shots
Seraph- combat focus: grants you bonus score towards your scorestreak
Reaper- Psycosis: Spawns a number of clones of yourself to confuse the enemy
If you get a kill while any of these are active you will be awarded a specifc medal, however, to earn medals with other specialists is slighty different
Outrider- vision pulse: Allows you to see enemies through walls. To get a medal with this the enemy must be actually tagged by the vision pulse, it has a limited range so say an enemy is outside the range when you activate it and you kill them even if it still activae it will not give you the medal.
Prophet- glitch: Move backwards in time a few seconds. To get this medal you simply need to kill an enemy shortly after glitching, you have about 5 seconds after your glitch is complete for it to register
Nomad- Rejack: When killed you can activate this which immediately brings you back to life where you stand, you lose any killstreak you had and it counts as a death (basically a glorified tactical insertion). To get this medal you need to get kills shortly after rejacking, again you have about 4- 5 seconds.
Spectre- Active camo: self- explanatory, become almost entirely invisible for a short time. Since shooting your gun deactivates active camo, you need kills shortly after exiting active camo.
Firebreak- Heat wave: release a wave of heat around you that blinds and disorients all nearby enemies for a short time. You simply need to kill enemies while they are dazed by the heat wave.
So for this achievement you need to get 5 of these medals. It is much easier to get this with some specialists then others. The ones you want to avoid are:
Outrider: her vision pulse lasts for a very short time, and it can be wuite frustrating when you kill enemies who aren't tagged (happens quite a bit)
Nomad- Rejack was useful when the game first came out but now everyone recognizes when it is being activated and will camp your corpse and kill you immediately after you spawn, making it very difficult to get kills.
The rest will work fine for you, but the best specialists I found are:
Battery: Her kinetic armor means you are less likely to die with it, and lasts longer then other abilities.
Firebreak: The heatwave when used correctly can let you get multiple kills easily. Its best in hardpoint, sprint into the enemy controlled hardpoint and activate it, killing everyone with ease.
The overclock perk lets you unlock your ability much quicker, so it is highly recommended. This does require a fair amount of skill, both in earning as many uses of the ability as possible and getting as many kills as possible when active. The game modes I recommend are hardpoint, domination and safeguard , as they tend to last quite a while giving you more opportunities to get your ability, and the spawns are more predictable.
Getting 5 uses in one game can be quite tricky, so you will likely need some uses where you get more then a single kill. Its really possible to get this with a single use of the ability, but highly unlikely, make sure you are tactical with when you ativate the ability, try and flank the enemies so you are behind them and can get many kills. It is likely to take you a few games tries but eventually you're bound to get lucky, as soon as the 5th kill is had the achievement pops.
For my part the best way to get it is in domination mode because there are 2 rounds and the games can be long. :)
Then, level 20 there is an asset in the first category to have your skill faster (my game is not in English I can not say its name) (it is in the blue category).
And the turbo skill is for me the best I had the impression that it recharged quickly enough maybe because I run everywhere lol.
Concerning the activation try to take the right moment bypass your enemies for the backhands.
Also pay attention to the enemy position on the map because to avoid activating your skill and you find nobody.
Challenges it happens that enemies appear on the map in grouping which facilitates the obtaining.
Take a weapon with which you arrive well played with a silencer :) personally I did it with the Kn with silencer
Seraph - Combat Focus
Unlock and Equip the first three killstreaks HC-XD, UAV, Care Package.
Get about 100 points short of getting your first streak going while playing domination, then capture an objective with the rest of your teammates, and activate your ability right before you capture it.
You'll get a crazy amount of points and most likely earn all 3 scorestreaks at the same time, getting you 3 specialist medals at once. (2 normal medals + the Grand Slam medal for getting 3 during the same activation)
This must be done in a public match, you cannot do this in private match.
Each Specialist has a Specialist Weapon and Specialist Ability you can choose to use. You'll need to be using a Specialist Ability to get this. Each ability has a medal that can be earned with it (viewable through Menu > Challenges > Multiplayer > Specialists > Specialist Abilities). Most of these medals are simply achieved by getting a kill while the ability is active.
Below is a list of all available Specialist Ability medals:
Level Unlocked: Specialist's Ability - Medal - Description
- Level 1: Ruin's Overdive - Speed Kill - Kill an enemy while Overdrive is active.
- Level 1: Outrider's Vision Pulse - Tag and Bag - Kill an enemy who is pulsed by your Vision Pulse.
- Level 1: Prophet's Glitch - Surprise Attack - Kill an enemy shortly after Glitching.
- Level 1: Battery's Kinetic Armor - Bully - Kill an enemy while your Kinetic Armor is active.
- Level 22: Seraph's Combat Focus - Optimizer - Earn a scorestreak with Combat Focus.
- Level 28: Nomad's Rejack - Grudge - Kill enemy that killed you shortly after Rejacking.
- Level 34: Reaper's Psychosis - Psyche - Kill an enemy while Psychosis is active.
- Level 40: Spectre's Active Camo - From the Shadows - Break from Active Camo to kill an enemy.
- Level 46: Firebreak's Heat Wave - Heat Stroke - Kill an enemy who is stunned by your Heat Wave.
If you want to get this out of way early, the best way to do this is by using Ruin's ability, Overdrive. This causes you to move faster for about 10 seconds, and any kill you get whilst this is active will give you the Speed Kill medal, and you can get multiple medals with one usage of Overdrive. You need to get 5 of these in a single game.
If you're at least Level 20, you'll have access to Overclock, which is a perk, in the Perk 1 slot. This allows you to earn your Specialist Weapon or Specialist Ability faster, which will make doing this a lot easier.
Whether you use Overdrive or another ability, it is wise to use them effectively, when you know you'll easily get a kill - don't just waste it the moment it is available. Given you will likely need multiple uses of your ability to do this, it is recommend you play a gamemode that lasts a while, like Safeguard. Safeguard can last four rounds if it goes into double overtime, which is more than enough time to get 5 of these medals.
If you are fluent in English, everything listed above is in this video , for clarity.
