How to unlock the Time Attack achievement in Call of Duty: Black Ops III - Definitive Guide
There is a bit of luck involved with this achievement but it is still doable even if you get fairly unlucky with drops or the box. If at any time you want to check what time you are at just hit the back button and the clock will show you.
To start off I'd recommend immediately knifing zombies as soon as the match starts to get the rounds going as fast as possible and not worry about points. Try to stay in the first room as long as you can (I'd say until round 6 or so is good) using the RK5 to try and get the early rounds done quickly. Once you feel you need to go, make your way out off spawn, through the department store and into the infirmary.
Make sure you grab the shield parts and turn on the power as you move through the department store, infirmary and into the Armory. If you do not know where these can be found then I'd recommend looking them up online somewhere.
The armory is where we will be spending the majority of the time. As soon as you enter the supply depot side coming from the power room, head all the way up the stairs towards the bridge at the top. You can sit in the corner at the top here and and kill zombies as they come at you from the window on the side and the stairs. Feel free to move around this area as well as it can get pretty cluttered in the later rounds.
I'd recommend buying the argus on the other side of the bridge in the infirmary once you get 1100 points then spinning the box to get better weapons. Make sure you also definitely have Juggernog and Quick Revive once you get the points then the last two perks are up to you. Personally I like getting Double Tap (which can be found in the Tank Factory, and Speed Cola (Located in the end of the supply depot).
Just setup in the Armory and Infirmary area until round 21 and you should hopefully get to round 21 in under 32 minutes.
Some useful tips:
- When the manglers or valkyrie drones start spawning, I'd recommend moving over to the Infirmary area where it is more spacious and you can freely move.
- Box guns can make this infinitely easier so I'd recommend you try spinning for either of the Ray guns or a high damage weapon like the Drakon, which is a 1 shot headshot up to round 20.
-If you feel like you are even close to getting overran just buy the bridge and train the zombies around in the Infirmary. Going down and having to rebuy perks is a huge waste of time so try not to.
If you would like a video of the whole process PowerPyx has a great video of the whole 21 rounds. All credit goes to him.

Updated Strategy Now Included
My Round 20 Time Attack Strategy can get you times faster than 28 minutes if executed properly. To get the achievement you must complete Round 20 in under 32 minutes. I go full in depth in my video on what I do, what weapons I use, weapon kits setups, gobblegums, routes and perks I use.
The new strategy I use starts at 3:18 in the video and I've gotten several sub 25 minute runs using it. My fastest run using it is one of the fastest times out there: 22:30 with No Mega Gumballs. The video here has a 24:08 run as an example. It covers everything I have to say but for those that prefer reading or if you just want more clarity, click the spoiler tag. Feel free to also check out my old video solution.

Good luck!!
No Shield necessary
I used Brecci for the first 16+ waves and then the Mark 3 and Brecci after that. A little lucky with the drops but not necessary.
Thanks!
Dead of Nuclear Winter, Fatal Contraption, Kill Joy, Wall Power and Perkaholic.
My advice would be to get the Packa-a-Punched RK5 and Sheiva by using Wall Power. Make sure to get rid of your starting pistol since it's not effective. Once you've got all those weapons get the Perkaholic.
Once you've got all your Weapons and Perks from the Gobble gums I mentioned above keep hitting the Gumball machine to get either Dead of Nuclear Winter, Fatal Contraption or Killjoy. Use these Gummballs to help kill the zombies faster.
There will be also a few Manglers that spawn occasionally so shoot them in the head to deal with them quickly. There's also these flying robots shoot them in the arms to make them self destruct.
Overall this achievement is quite easy if you're decent at Zombies.
Was a bit unsure if this was going to work at first, since the spawn room is small. But it's do able with the right setup.
I have plenty of Gumballs, got to level 100 today.
We bought the RK5 straight straight away and stayed in the first room, not rebuilding any windows, until the round 5 time attack was done.
Next we moved through to the bunker to get the wrench, quickly headed upstairs, built the shield, turned the power on and hit the box a couple of times. Luckily we got a Ray-Gun and a Ray-Gun MK3. We then sat in the train cart on the armoury side, with one person watching the door and one person watching the window. When the player at the door was running low on ammo, we switched. Do NOT buy the door to the supply depot because that will ruin the train cart to camp in as it opens the door at the back.
We continued to do this and purchased every melee weapon we unlocked and bought jug, the malice on round 10 and the axe on round 15.
By the beginning of round 20 we had 22 minutes on the clock, giving us 10 minutes to complete the last round. We stayed in the cart for as long as possible but when our ammo ran out we legged it out the back of the train cart and quickly to training spots, using our shields for cover.
Buying a new gun off the wall and finishing off the round, we were able to complete this time attack challenge in under 26 minutes, smashing the 32 minute mark. I know we got lucky with the box getting two ray-guns but I would highly recommend doing this 2 player co-op if you are struggling. A Drakon or another strong gun would make this possible too.
Also, this is my first solution on this website so be nice haha.
Round 16 (unless it's Random and is just close to round 16) spawns electric zombies as well as Valkyrie robots, which kind of took me off-guard.
There is an HVK in the elevator shaft (on top of the "bridge") between the Armoury and Infirmary.
Double-Tap needs to be stressed because it DOUBLES projectile damage.
Wall Buy (Gobblegum) helps a lot. It makes it so the next firearm you purchase off the wall is Pack-A-Punched. I used it with the HVK.
It also helps a lot to add parts to your guns (provided they are leveled up enough to do so) in the "Weapon Kits" section of the lobby beforehand. Personally, I like to add fast mags, a laser sight, quickdraw, and rapid fire to whatever guns I can.
Speed Cola is also less than just a suggestion, for me, seeing as how the location in the top guide is close quarters, which is where I spent the majority of my time as well.
Grabbing perks and hitting the box for monkeys between rounds is also a great idea, but I'd only hit the box once before heading back to base.
Happy hunting, cheevsters!
GLITCHED
Some people are reporting that this trophy will not unlock for them despite fulfilling the requirements for the trophy. However, recently it has been shown that playing the game Ranked sometimes fixes the issue (thanks Lachz for the info). Another possible reason for the glitch is that the time clock doesn't work sometimes. Make sure you get the 5 minute bonus to know if it works.
This is quite a difficult trophy to obtain so I recommend playing with 4 people as you have more entrances to cover and even though there are more enemies, you will kill them faster.
You need to complete Round 20 with 32 minutes and with the right strategy, it's definitely doable. My group of 4 managed to finish in 27 minutes on our first attempt. The prize for completing this is a Fury’s Song melee weapon, which you can claim on the bulletin board at the bunker entrance (next to Mule Kick) for 500 points. There are also time attack bonuses for Round 5 and 10 as well (5 minutes and 13 minutes respectively), so you can use these to determine if your group is on pace to complete in time.
If you read Step 3 of the Walkthrough in the Roadmap, you will see a list of Gobblegums I’d highly recommend equipping. The most important for this is Kill Joy so you can spawn an Instakill powerup whenever you need one. This is invaluable in killing enemies as fast as possible. Another good choice is Dead of Nuclear Winter, which spawns a Nuke powerup.
The important thing is to not open any doors around the map. Staying in the spawn forces all zombies to spawn there, which lessens the time you need to wait for the zombies to reach you.
At the start, each player should go to grab a gobblegum from the machine. Depending on the gums obtained, use them whenever the situation deems necessary. Don't waste Nukes or Instakills on the first 3 rounds, only use the knife or pistol. Buy the RK5 or Shieva when you get enough points. Also don’t overlap any powerups! Like don't waste a Nuke when Instakill is active, or if someone is using a Death Machine, don’t bother using gums. If you get an On the House gum, use it to give everyone a free perk. Once everyone gets Juggernog (luck based), you will be a lot safer in later rounds.
Try to cycle through gums player by player so if 2 people get Kill Joy, let one person use theirs up first so they can attempt to get another gum sooner rather than later. The more players there are, the more chances you have to consistently have good powerups. You will have more than enough money to keep trying for gums after round 10 anyway.
Once you complete Round 20, the trophy will pop.
Also note that if you don't want to waste all those gumballs you used for this trophy, you can quit to the XMB by closing the game. It will keep all your gumballs, as well as the XP earned and any Divinium you obtain. Literally nothing bad can occur from doing that other than possibly losing out on a high score for the leaderboards, if you care for that sort of thing.
Important: You must play this solo, if you do this cooperatively, this will be a lot harder
Gobblegums used:
- Anywhere But Here (purple, requires level 10)
- Stock Option (green, default)
- Firing on All Cylinders (blue, requires level 23)
- Sword Flay (green, requires level 6)
- Always Done Swiftly (blue, default)
At the start, immediately rush to the wall to the left (ignore the trials, that is not the focus of this challenge) and pick up the RK5 pistol. It is a burst fire pistol, will last you until Round 4. At round 3, pick up the Quick Revive (500) and open the first door (500). Pick up the KSM-12 (shotgun wall buy for 750) and move to the barrier on the edge and shotgun enemies entering the door.
Once Round 4 is done, go upstairs (not to the room with Juggernog) to wall buy a Kuda. This weapon will last you all the way to 21. Every so often, you may get lucky with Death Machine drops, Nukes, or Insta-Kill powerups, those will substantially give you more time. DO NOT ABSOLUTELY PICK UP CARPENTER POWER UPS (Hammer) IF YOU SEE THEM! Those will slow down your progression through the stages much more heavily.
In Round 6, turn on the power and try to find the shield pieces on the map.
Pieces are found in:
- The Operations Bunker on the bottom floor (can also be on a truck door outside or in the Juggernog room)
- The Infirmary, various locations
- The Armory, various locations
Knowing where the parts are is essential for this, so you can save yourself in a fine touch.
After building the shield, you next need to wall buy the Argus (found in the Infirmary) then take the Elevator trap to the Armory. Position yourself in the corner and use your Kuda to mow down zombies. In Round 9 or 10, go to the Tank Factory and get the Double Tap Root Beer, it is core for this run. Around Round 13, go through the burned train to get Speed Cola.
Two waves between 8-11 and 16-19 will be Valkyrie Drone waves. You need to shoot them with the Argus shotgun in the chest. The arms may sound easier but Double Tap gives you a huge damage boost against the drones.
If you go down at any point, you likely will not complete this. If you get surrounded, either use the "Anywhere But Here" Gobblegum if you have it, or pull out the shield and fire a fireball at the zombies to save yourself.
To get this achievement, you must beat Round 20 in under 32 minutes. I did this in 27 minutes but it took several attempts. Some of this is RNG based with Death Machine, Insta-kill, Max Ammo, or Double Points drops.
I used this video as a reference. If you level your Kuda and Argus weapons, this will be a lot easier. Good luck!
20 rounds must be completed in less than 32 minutes. At the end of the 20th, if you did everything correctly, the following notification will appear
And after it there is a trophy.
To simplify things, we actively use bubble games with a nuclear explosion and insta-kills at high levels, as well as other improvements that are convenient for you to exterminate zombies.
If you play in co-op, then don’t run around too much - otherwise you’ll waste time looking for zombies.
As an option for everyone to sit in one place - a good video from powerpyx, in this place you can stay for 20 rounds without any problems - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLtYZYuOC7g
Also, if you complete round 5 in less than 5 minutes and round 10 in less than 13, they give bonuses in the form of a wrench and the like (new weapon magazines appear on the wall) The same for 20 and 15...
z.y. Personally, we didn’t even assemble the shield and didn’t do anything special at all, we pulled more or less weapons out of the box and all 20 waves stood in armory like in the video. Knocked it out the first time.
