How to unlock the You've earned it achievement in Call of Duty: Ghosts - Definitive Guide

Just like every Call of Duty campaign there are two basic rules that everyone should follow.
One - Nobody likes a hero: Don't be running around like a mad man trying to kill all of the enemies as quickly as possible just so you can move onto the next section. Depending on what difficulty you are playing you can be killed with as little as 3 shots from anyone and then you will have to repeat the same section again which will inevitably lead to you getting pissed off. Take your time and pace yourself.
Two - Sticky Aim: When it comes to campaign there is a slight attraction that you controller has to stick to enemies when you hold down the trigger. Use this to your advantage when moving around to make sure that you get the enemies that are not so visible.
Hope my tips help you! I'm currently doing a series on YouTube of me playing through the campaign on Veteran. Feel free to check out the campaign videos if you need some help.
Good luck!

This was by far the easiest Veteran achievement in Call of Duty. Only the last mission presented somewhat of a challenge.

Veteran difficulty in COD Ghosts seems to be a lot more forgiving and much easier compared to previous games in this franchise (I'm talking about you COD Black Ops). I started the game on Normal and switched to Veteran at the "Atlas Falls" chapter in order to earn the Piece of Cake achievement. Finding that the difficulty wasn't that much harder than Normal I just continued through the game on Veteran without any problems. In fact there were several times where I thought perhaps the difficulty had reverted back to the default Normal because I found the gameplay so easy. After completing the game I just replayed the earlier chapters on Veteran and the achievement popped after I finished the level just before "Atlas Falls".

VETERAN GLITCH

Thankyou to the comment who mentioned this was possible. For anyone who doesnt know start your mission on recruit and play until you get a checkpoint in the top left. Then pause and lower the difficulty all the way to recruit and continue playing. Near the last checkpoint of the mission (I used a youtube walkthrough to find out when that would be) save and quit to the main menu. Then go to mission select and select the mission you were just doing but choose veteran. As soon as the mission starts loading press the home button and force quit the game. Boot it back up and choose resume mission at the top of the campaign menu. Beat the last portion of the game and you will get credit for beating it on Veteran. MW remastered and WW2 have very similar glitches. Im sure other Cods around this time do too.

I was able to get this with the Veteran glitch. The only one mission you have to do it on an early placed CP is Severed Ties, the last CP doesn't work for unknown reasons. So I found that if you use the CP after you get into the last control tower on Severed Ties and launch the rocket, after you head down stairs, there is a CP right before you have to get on the train that comes buy, I had to do this last firefight as you come down the elevator. There is CP here. I did the glitch at this CP, did the fire fight here on Veteran, just take it easy and make ur kills. I headed to the far right as there is 2 rooms on the right side that you can get close to the train when it comes, be sure to take out as many enemies before the train arrives, then run to the side of the train when it comes by and get on it. After this you'll cut scene back to the tank where you have to finish taking out launchers, then the tank will be destroyed. You don't die but you have to get out of the tank then you have to run to another tank and get in and start firing at everything and helo's as you leave the base area and head over the hill. Then the mission ends. The difficulty should say Veteran. This was the only mission that I had to use an earlier placed CP. All other CPs I used the very last one and it worked.

Best way to beat the campaign on Veteran is to take your time killing enemies and move up when you have the chance. As you do, you're allies will move as well. There are a lot of stealth aspects in this game, so play stealthy unless you want to be filled with bullet holes. Remember, patience, stealth, and knowing when to move up is the key in surviving and beating the hell out of Veteran. Good luck.

This game is actually fairly easy to beat on veteran compared to earlier games, especially considering I've beaten Call of Duty 4 and World at War on veteran which are nightmares. No level is really very difficult, and the hardest part I faced in the entire campaign was the last level when you're fighting on top of the train, as it's hard to aim when the screen is shaking the whole time. Some general tips though:

- There's finite enemy spawns in this game, so don't feel the need to run and gun. If you hang back and just pick them off one by one you can win easily.

-The AI in this game is vastly improved compared to other games, so if you're afraid to face combat, let your allies engage in the firefight while you hang back. They usually can manage to kill about 50% of the enemies per engagement, and the rest you can handle.

-Be wary of your allies verbal commands. I can't tell you how many times Hesh has told me "Move up!" just for me to get shot by the enemy hiding behind a crate. Wait a few seconds to ensure everyone is dead before popping out.

-Grenades are the devil. If a grenade lands near you, even if you're being shot at, RETREAT. Find cover further away from the enemies, as grenades will kill you even when you think you're at a safe distance. Your chances of getting shot while retreating to another cover spot are MUCH lower than the chances of that grenade killing you.

-Checkpoints seemed to be a little more sparse than usual, at least I thought, so be wary when engaging and note when you get a checkpoint. The worst is popping your head up and getting killed by the last enemy in a area then losing 10 minutes of progress.

-A very obvious tip, but necessary. Just crouch behind a crate/box/cover and come up to shoot one enemy then crouch back down. That's the basic tactic for veteran. Repeat crouching, standing, shooting, and crouching again.

-And last but certainly not least, if you get shot even once, it is imperative that you prone immediately, and crawl to cover if you're in the open. It take only 2-3 shots to die on veteran and getting hit once puts your that much closer to getting sent back to your last checkpoint. Never get cocky and think "let me try to get just one more enemy before I crouch." Keep your head down.

So that's veteran in a nutshell. Some pretty obvious tips, but just figured I'd share. Good luck!

Idk. Sometimes it does seem like they keep spawning like the old games. I think in some parts they do still. But im used to all the old cod campaigns where u have to push up to force a checkpoint and i still do it. It still helps tho because your teammates move up and help kill enemies. This is definitely ALOT easier than any cod before on vet. I picked up all but one mission specific trophy first time through. The veteran difficulty is a joke compared to 4 and WAW. Mile high on cod 4 was harder than this whole game combined lol.
Good guide tho. +1

Lol yeah, mile high club was the worst achievement I've ever gotten. But you are right, I did notice maybe one or two spots where they did at least seem to infinite spawn, but it didn't have enough of an effect overall on the campaign for me to mention it, as your allies usually killed enough for you to move. Thanks for the +1 though!

There is a not so legitimate way.

1. Start the campaign on Recruit difficulty.
2. At the last checkpoint of each mission (you can find a guide to find out the last checkpoint) save the game and exit.
3. Go to "select mission" and select the mission you just played.
4. Choose veteran difficulty.
5. Right when you select Veteran difficulty, you'll need to exit the game quickly or turn off the console.
6. Close the game completely from the console menu.
7. Start the game again and select "resume game"
8. If everything went well you could reduce the difficulty to "hardened" although I don't think you want to do it.

This works in some of the other games in the series.

Veteran difficulty is not as hard as it is in other Call of Duty games, as-long as you use cover effectively and don't run out in the open this can be attempted on your first playthrough. You will also need to play on this difficulty to get the "Piece of cake" achievement.

If you are looking for additional help, you can use the Veteran video walkthrough of the game HERE.

A COD trophy list wouldn't be a COD trophy list without not having to complete it on the hardest difficulty. You must complete it on veteran.

The difficulty is slightly easier than previous titles, and doesn't take much effort to complete. However, there are a few areas in the game that can be challenging.

General tips: `

  • Use Riley whenever you can!
When given the opportunity, order Riley to kill enemies by pressing . It's impossible for him to die, so use him to your advantage.
  • Use autoaim
You can "autoaim" by tapping the button when aiming your sight. This will move your sight to the closest enemy if you're aiming near them.
  • Always take cover
Prone as soon as you get hit. It's not worth risking a death.
  • Advance as soon as possible
The best way to make progress is to keep pushing forward, don't just camp in one area. With that said, only advance when you are safe.
  • Always replace your handgun
In most missions, you start off with a handgun as your secondary weapon. Be sure to replace it as soon as possible.
