I've done this twice now only shooting the 2 guys soap tells me to in the beginning and no achievement pop. Doing it on an X1, kind of annoying

once you make your way to the top of the mountain, when soap says to take one of the guards in the the two pairs you encounter, you can either shoot or just let Soap take out all 4 guards. it doesnt matter at this point if you fire, the no alert/injure part of this only applies when the blizzard starts. once Soap goes into overwatch, pay attention to the heartbeat monitor and aim your self away from bad guys. Soap will snipe a few that come in your way but its best to let them walk your path before you go ahead. (i crawled whenever i found a heartbeat too close and i got the achievemet).
IMPORTANT if Soap ever tells you that youve alerted a guard, quickly pause and reload to last checkpoint as there are several auto-saves on this level and you dont want to walk into one right after alerting a guard.
This achievement will pop for you once you have set the C4.

You can shoot the enemies yourself from the start of the mission up until the point where you separate from Soap and still get the achievement. The "in the blizzard" proviso from the achievement description is important here.

I recommend doing this on Recruit as it will be much easier to do on but that is for you to decide on.

Pretty certain that the difficulty has no affect on how likely you are to be seen, only on how tough the enemies are, which would screw you out of this achievement if you have to test that.

Getting this achievement is very simple. I wont be able to have have a detailed guide of this achievement thats why I have a video below. I used the exact same route the person in the video was using. Just watch that and read this as you progress.
Go through the first parts normally until you and MacTavish split up. Do NOT go through the left route, instead go to the right. One soldier will start walking near you, let him pass while another goes inside the building. Go around the truck slowly to let MacTavish take out the bastard. Then go to the left where there will be a guy in front of you as well as another to your right. You can let 'em go away while you make a run for it OR you can let MacTavish take 'em out giving you a strait path to the fueling station (I'd prefer that option). So, when they're dead, go ahead forward to a corner and you'll see a few enemies walking forward. Hug the wall to the left so you can get a strait path to the fueling station, giving you an achievement, and an oh so nice complement from Capn' MacTavy, "No kills, no alerts. Impressive Roach." Oh he's so nice!
Look at the video below to give you an easier look at the achievement. Till then, I'll see you later!

Very simple and fast on "Recruit" difficult level according to this "NextGenTactics" video:
P.S. Simple hint - Always check heartbeat sensor and let MacTavish kill enemies for you. When he says "theres a truck coming stay out of sight" - get in the cover.

Once soap goes up on the ridge you want to go and lay down next the snowplow. Wait for the guard to start smoking and walk right behind him. Soap will take him out. Keep going right next to the fence. There will be two guards that come out. Just point your crosshairs at them and soap will take them out. Keep going and there will be a group of guards to the right. Just wait till they turn around. Then run toward the marker and plant the C4. The achievement should pop up.
In Cliffhanger, plant the C4 without alerting or injuring anyone in the blizzard.
Follow Captian McTavish's orders. If he tell you that you alerted some guards, you'll have to restart last checkpoint or otherwise restart mission to try again. Achievement/trophy pops if he said that you haven't killed or alerted anybody. You'd be a ghost in the blizzard, which the blizzard is based on a treat from Dairy Queen.
The mission "Cliffhanger" was also based on a 1993 film produced by carolco/le studio canal+/pioneer production in association with RCS video for Mario Kassar and Tristar pictures.
