How to unlock the The Price of War achievement in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Definitive Guide
If you've played Call of duty world at war on veteran you will find this not hard at all. If you use basic cover and pick enemies off one by one instead of going head first into firefights you will succeed. As in world at war there was infinite respawning enemies and grenade spam, there's none of that in MW2.
There's no time limit, so take your time; don't rush. If you're ever out in the open you will die so always make sure you plan where you're going to move to next which has a good amount of cover. The checkpoints are a lot better in this than the previous game they, seem to be more paced and you can sort of predict when they're going to appear.
Basic veteran skills you will want to take on:
-
Use cover at all times:
Cover is one of the biggest life savers in veteran, Wherever cover is available make sure you're near to it, you don't want to get caught in a firefight without any cover to quickly get to. Go for places where the enemy can't flank you also, it's never good when one gets up behind you.
-
Use Prone:
Another life saver, this is one of the things you need to master to complete veteran, prone behind an object and slowly poke yourself out of cover to pick off enemies and when you start getting shot slide back to cover again. It's also useful if you need to pass by an open window as you won't get hit by shots through that window.
-
AI (Your team/partner):
The AI can be useful at times whereas most the time they are really not. Use them as decoys, enemies will get distracted by them and you can pick the enemies of easier. However this doesn't always work. If an enemy has seen you then he will only go for you. Make sure you never run ahead of your team/AI, you never know what's lurking around the corner. Most missions in MW2 you will be with another member of your team.
-
Flashbangs/concussion grenades:
Very very useful in veteran especially if you're surrounded by a group of enemies. Just pop one in a room to immobilise, blind and deafen them for a short period of time. At this point you can just run in and kill the enemies without worrying about them shooting you. The effect lasts about 3 - 5 seconds depending how close the explosion was to them.
As soon as you complete the final mission called 'end game' the trophy will unlock.
Complete the game on Veteran. This is EXTREMELY easy in comparison to Call Of Duty 4. You can get shot many times and still live but do NOT get cornered. Being cornered will mean your instant death. Take it slow and reload often. Pick up enemy weapons for ammunition and remember: Stealth missions aren't meant for you to be detected. If they find you, it will be a LOT harder. Try to flank your enemies and watch your back, team mates are horrible at protecting you. You need to stay in cover, but rememeber that wooden covers aren't the best because enemies can shoot right through it. Watch out for shotguns as the enemies has many of them and will ambush you. STAY IN COVER, this isn't Call Of Duty 5 with infinite grenades. The enemies only throw one or two grenades at most. Helicopters CAN BE KILLED WITH NORMAL GUNS! It only takes half or so of a LMG and a couple of clips of a normal gun.
