How to unlock the The Shot achievement in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered - Definitive Guide

Defending your position at the ferris wheel was the hardest part for most players in the original game.

However, I found this video on youtube which made this part so much easier.

All credits goes to NZL KNUCKLEZ for the video.

I got attacked by two enemies that came in front of me so be ready for that. But after that you should be safe till the helicopter arrives.

Jezz41 said: Just want to add you can put C4 down before putting Cpt. MacMillan at the spot next to the Ferris wheel. After you put him down it will restock all your C4 so you can use 12 instead of 6.

only problem is that is the c4 does not kill enough of them, you are trapped, i am not even able to take 1 shot, let alone run out.

I kept getting enemies to detonate my C4 early so I'd be annihilated the frame I turned past that corner. Not to mention there's a lot of open field between you and MacMillan. I'm sure it can be done, but I found the shack method in the solution by pizzle21 to be far more consistent.

Guys, there is a checkpoint in recruit difficulty after you pick Cpt. MacMillan and make your way to the helicopter. Just do the checkpoint glitch after that.

Yeah there is no checkpoint after that part. Waited until we were at the helicopter and it still put me at the start of the fight in veteran.
Edit: I just tried this again and did get a checkpoint after picking him up so I think it may be a little glitchy. Managed to get through it this time though.

Checkpoints seem to be random sometimes in this game. On other missions i got the same problem. So the only thing i can say is keep trying and eventually you will get a checkpoint. It's annoying tbh.

^ I am not immortal when I pick up Macmillan. Unless by immortal you mean killed as fuck! Every time I pick him up I die. Guide is good for where to stand though, I will get it eventually.

This video is incredible. I spent a few hours just trying to brute force my way through this. Once I tried this guide it took me a few tries but worked super well. I usually put one claymore in front of me against the wall with the vines hanging from it incase one of the AI's would stumble across me. I would recommend doing that

in order to avoid being trapped you throw your flashbangs. And sprint forward to get from the OP spot to behind the ferris-wheel. So make sure you save all your grenades and flashbangs til the end for the final push

Another good strategy is to hide behind the concrete slabs to the right of macmillan(looking at him from the front not back) and from there shoot the guys rappelling down from the choppers and the ocasial enemy running towards you and then just throw all the flashbangs when the chopper lands, then just sprint to macmillan and sticking more to the left as you run to the chopper

Definitely sit in the wooden shack on recruit and get the checkpoint after picking up MacMillan. Wait for a few seconds after picking him up, if you don't get a checkpoint kill yourself to reset the checkpoint. This way when you load up the mission on veteran all you have to do is carry him to the chopper, which is hard to fail.

This one finally worked for me after about 5-6 tries. I think its still down to luck in the end. Sometimes when I went to go grab McMillan a dog or some enemies would either be right around the corner or come running out as I hit the C4. 3 times I had McMillan and still got shot full of holes before I could even get close to the helicopter.

Entirely luck based where you get the last checkpoint. Got mine while getting shot after killing the first wave. Impossible to finish on veteran without restarting the level.

As of January 2021, this achievement is glitched. I've completed both levels on Veteran yet it hasn't unlocked. I did not use cheats.

what i think tricks you with this achievement is the first half is shockingly easy, you can perfect stealth "All Ghillied up" yet "One Shot Kill" is a return to form fast paced level with only one AI partner as opposed to two of three in every other mission.

This level is just poorly designed, I don't know how you would even do this normally nobody can snipe 12 bots and keep up with the infinite spam, really surprising they didn't like make it doable normally

It's totally doable normally. Me and a lot of other people did it in the original game on 360 normally. It just takes a lot of tries, memorization and zero mistakes. But this way is definitely easier and what I will do the 2nd time around.

Yeah not sure how anyone can say they were immortal when picking McMillan up, I kept dying in that sequence, or when walking to the helo.

The ONLY thing that finally worked for me, was to keep moving the right stick back and forth from left to right. It makes you look from side to side, over and over, as you walk to the helo. Sounds dumb, and it is, but it made Price take infinite damage, and allowed me to carry McMillan all the way and finally beat that damned last part. There’s an old video of this method on YouTube

Took me 5 or 6 tries to get a run where I was safe in that spot. Looking to the right at the double doors seemed to work better for me.

My biggest challenge was then getting on the chopper! My first two runs I was on board and I’d put down MacMillan and it came up with failed to get there on time cry got it on my 3rd run

Weirdly I noticed the distance of your chopper tracks slowly to about 2,169m, at which point it jumps back to 3,000m but decreases at a much faster rate

Credit goes to Reaper Reborn for this Video, I tried using the video listed above and I kept getting killed when I have to get out of there. but this Video helped me out a lot.

I stayed in the Shack the whole time til I had to get the hell out of there. one thing I did to kind of help to get out of the shack was that I used a couple of flashbangs. Hope this Helps anyone.

go to time 14:43 to see the shack in action.

The shack was very helpful! Couple of c4s and a flash bang or two and waiting about 10 or so seconds for the guys to get out the chopper and start shooting was helpful too.

Worked perfectly, didn't get a single thing thrown into the shack and didn't get shot once running out to the helicopter. One tip is that if you pause you can see the locations of enemies on the map so you know where to avoid when running.

There’s plenty of videos out there showing lots of people’s own strategies for the whole level, and the defending part by the Ferris wheel towards the end.

I only wanted to add a little input on how I got past the part where you have to pick up McMillan and carry him to the helo. I had zero problems with everything before this (stayed in the left-most shack).

It was carrying him in the last 20 seconds that I simply could not complete. No matter what I did beforehand, I kept dying as soon as I picked him up, as I carried him along, or right as I entered the helo (that last one is heartbreaking).

After picking him up, I simply moved the right stick back and forth from left to right, non-stop, as I walked over to the helo. This makes Price move his field of view left to right over and over, and seemingly makes him take infinite damage. By the end, my entire screen was dark red as I went into the chopper. I had seen this method in a video from a while back, remembered it, and tried it out. I was about to give up, and was open to trying anything out when I attempted this odd method.

Not a complete solution, but just a little advice for anyone that’s stuck like I was in the last frustrating seconds of the level.

I'll add that If you are hiding in the shack super close to him if you hug the right wall in the shack the grenades won't get you. It's still a crap shoot whether or not you'll get lucky and get him on the copter but at least you don't die while waiting in the shack.

I couldn't get this to work in the other shack by the ferris wheel I think you are too exposed there.

For someone trying to get this mission done on Veteran with the other guides and couldn't do it, Try this one:
Just got this one today.

I finally got it using this guide though I modified it just a bit. Here's what I did. I just got this after about 3-4 deaths at the very last CP. I also did this with the glitch and yes I didn't quite do it the same. Be sure you pick up a AK47 in the middle of the campaign before or soon after the Capt gets hit with the downed helo. You'll need the AK47 later. Keep your sniper rifle. I put all the Claymores and C4 out all along the walk way coming from the swimming pool building and some along the fence area and mostly out in front where the broke cars were. Then I went and hid behind the Blue car nearest the pool building out on the boarder of the radiation field as seen in this guide. It's ok if you keep behind the blue car. You won't die. There is a small hill in front of the blue car. ALL enemies will funnel thru this hill. Kill any that come over the hill with the AK47. Then, 4 enemy helos will approach. If your behind the blue car from the start, one will come up to the left over you, kill the enemies as they come down the rope. Then, Immediately turn to the right and take out the enemies sliding down the helo up and to the right of the blue car. I died a couple of times as I didn't realized the right helo was dropping enemies. So I got overwhelmed and thus died until I figured this out. Then just sit behind the blue car and kill enemies as they come over or some may come to the left of the small hill. DO NOT stand up for any reason while behind the blue car. There will be a CP here around this area and time frame so be aware of this if you need this CP. So if you die, just restart the last CP. Just keep killing anyone coming over the hill. Right before the friendly helo arrives there will be a couple or 3 enemies come over and 1 dog. Kill them as soon as you see them. If the dog gets behind the car, just move backwards that should give you time to kill the dog with your gun. Your almost there. Keep killing enemies coming over the hill. There maybe one or two grenades however I think if you kill enemies sooner, you may not see any. I didn't. Be sure to reload often when you notice a small lull in no enemies coming over the hill. There will be a few gaps where you can reload. Pause the game if you need to. Helps get your nerves under control. Take a break and try to keep calm. Now once your passed the dog and the helo begins to land, count 10 seconds to allow the friendlies to exit the helo and help you out. This is where I kicked off the last of the C4 I had placed. Do this here. After 10 seconds, start to move right towards the Capt, keeping behind the concrete barricades as you go. As you move throw the left over grenades you have or flashbangs or all, towards the middle or far left section towards the pool building. Then sprint towards the Capt and pick him up after you pass the barricades. After picking him up, I walked towards the back end of the ticket book nearest the farriswheel and went behind the booth as to keep behind for cover. Then moved towards the back end of the helo moving my look stick left to right just in case to help from being hit. I was not hit once when picking up the Captain and after moving to the helo. Went in and dropped the Capt and thru out a few left over flashbangs/grenades I had while the friendlies go on the helo. We took off and boom, 2 achievements popped. I feel this method is a bit easier since there is only one path where enemies come at you. So be quick and get them coming over the hill. Get the two nearest enemy helo drops nearest the blue care your hiding behind. Claymore and C4 placement is still crucial along with timing. IM SOOOOO GLAD THIS MISSION IS NOW OVER!!! Hope this will help those looking to get this

See Deep and Hard for general Veteran Tips.

All Ghillied Up:
Nice easy mission, you can remain undetected the whole time (which you need to do anyway for the Ghillies in the Mist trophy). Just follow MacMillan’s orders and stick close to him during the crawling and running sections. Make sure to only kill enemies when no other enemies can see them. Restart the checkpoint if you mess up because that will be quicker than fighting off the waves of enemies that come for you when you’re detected. See Ghillies in the Mist for more tips.

One Shot, One Kill:
This is one of the hardest missions in the game. At the start, when all the enemies start pouring in, the trick is to keep moving. Snipe the few that run across to the left but try and do so without stopping. Then when you reach the bottom just run around to the right toward the building you’re headed for, ignoring all the other enemies.

When carrying MacMillan take the first left and put him down at the far corner of the building. Turn around and kill the enemies behind then clear out the ones ahead. Put him down again at the small set of steps slightly further up and kill the last few enemies that spawn here.

The final section can be a nightmare. First off, remember to lay your 10 claymores down before you put MacMillan in his sniping spot because when you do he’ll give you his claymores and you can only carry 10. You can hide away (which we’ll talk about in a moment) but I found the first section not too bad to do legit. If you lay the claymores in strategic areas such as between fences and cars where enemies will have to bottleneck, and also up near where you entered the level (where the majority of enemies spawn in) then you can stand in the little booth between the Ferris Wheel and Bumper Cars and snipe away. In here you can duck down for cover when you need to.

For the next part though, when the choppers drop off reinforcements, there are several professed “safe spots” you can hide in. None of them are true safe spots as grenades can reach you occasionally. Plus the worst thing about them is that loads of enemies will be left for when you need to run and grab MacMillan and take him to the chopper that comes to collect you. The one that ended up working for me was in the booth on the opposite side to the previous one we mentioned. Standing where MacMillan is and looking at the enemy spawn it’s to the far left. Go prone and back up into the corner but keep watching the door as enemies will occasionally run by. I think the reason it worked is because it’s closer to MacMillan than the other so-called safe spots you may have read about and there aren’t as many enemies on this side of the area. When you grab MacMillan flick your right analog stick right and left as you move with him which seems to help you avoid incoming fire somewhat. Be careful you that you don’t get stuck up against one of your allies while trying to board the chopper, circle around them and get in.

From the video above, I was only able to sit through this entire wave, but returning back to McMillan was too difficult and I failed the mission over and over again.

But I found a more convenient place. There is a small booth right next to the karting track, sit in the corner and the grenades won’t harm you, the soldiers also just run past. And when the helicopter arrives, getting to McMillan will not be difficult, the enemies will already be aiming at your allies and will not touch you

There are two booths on the Ferris wheel side. Climb into the right one and with a 75% chance you will survive).
