It's a Trap!

It's a Trap!

Kill at least one zombie with three different traps in a single round. (Map Pack 2 only)

2.7%

How to unlock the It's a Trap! achievement in Call of Duty: World at War - Definitive Guide

Easy Solo strategy. After round 2 go down and hole up by the box and buy a thompson off the wall (1200 PTS). Once you have 8500 pts create a crawler - for me was at the end of round 5. Once you have a crawler, open the doctor's quarters. When you open the gate 3 zombies will appear - don't kill them. Go to the building and throw the switch. Once they are dead go to the gate by the floger (fishing hut)- once again 3 zombies will appear. go up to the hut and throw the switch. once they are dead open the storage room gate (3 more zombies) and let them follow you back to the flogger - throw the switch and you should be all set.

Getting the crawler is the key - he wont be able to move fast enough to get caught in the traps and that will allow you to move around freely.

good strategy, but you dont need to open the 3rd gate. save yourself 1000 and let the crawler die on the flogger

Worked perfectly...the only difference in my method was that I switched the flogger for the comm room trap.

Thanks a ton :-)

nice one. this is a great solution, but I only needed 7600 points and not 8500!

I never thought of using the 3 zombies that spawn when you open a new location, I did it in the middle of the round on round 17. I wish I would have thought of this!!

Thanks, I suck at zombies so it took a couple of tries for me.

U can do this with 7.000 points.
When u open the last area just let the zombies come to u and use the Trap in the middle of the map :) thats what i did.

Just for us n00bs, you might want to say to "open the hut, go inside, and throw the switch". I tried this multiple times, killing zombies with the zipline, not realizing that the zip line wasn't the trap. Duh!

And yeah, I think I had around 7k or so. I let the flogger kill the crawlers.

It works! Just gotta be careful about the zombie supply. (Don't want to waste all of them on one trap)

There's no real strategy for this achievement

There are five traps in Shi No Numa, The Fogger, which is a giant spike machine located above the entrance to The Fishing Hut, and an electric trap at the door of every Hut (Where the perk machines generate)

Knowing this, you need to save a lot of money, this also requires luck. What I did was (This was around round 12) I started and went into the Fishing Hut side of the level, and activated the Fogger, after activating it, I ran to the Fishing Hut (By this time zombies have spawned from the water) and flipped the electric trap, after the trap wore off, I bolted to the Doctor's Hut and flipped the electric trap there, killing zombies and unlocking the achievement.

Please note, that it does not matter what order of huts you go to, as long as you kill at least one zombie with three traps in one round.

Good luck!

YES! This works great!!! My friend and I did it, just us two, and were able to do it around level 8.

What we did was buy the Trench Gun and Thompson in the Random Box area; the Trench Gun is awesome on the Devil Dogs. We waited until after the first Devil Dog round (because the round-change timing seems to be longer after those rounds) and immediately booked it to the Fishing Hut first, turned on the barrier, immediately ran past the Flogger and turned it on (making sure at least one zombie was following us), then towards the Doctor's Quarters and turned on the barrier there. Perfect! Great solution.

Actually, I meant we went to the Storage Room instead of the Doctor's Quarters. It's more of a straight line.

Yeah, the Flogger counts, but yeah, three electrical barriers also works, too!

@Blackflam0729, this achievement isn't glitched, I got it today. I went to the Fisherman's Hut, then to the Flogger and finally ended up at the Comm Room. Achievement unlocked.

@HnC Cacky maybe not for you but it's definitely glitched for me, I killed at least 1 zombie with EVERY trap on the map in 1 round and still hasn't unlocked >:(

Pretty good strategy. I ended up doing Storage, Dr. Quarters & the Flogger. The Flogger is awesome, will have to try and run that one on a hoard of zombies some time.

I dont think there is too much luck involved, if you go to the storage room activate the fence, then leg it to the flogger after the electric fence turns off and activate it on the other side, then run to the fishing hut and wait for zombies to get close you get it nearly every time. Me and two of my friends all got the achievement in one game when we ending up doing the run three times (once for each of us), it is a sound stratergy to make this achievement easy.

what you have to do for this is leave every door closed, ensuring you have good weapons and then when you have enough e.g.
8,250 points in total.
get '1' last zombie preferrably on the floor, throw grenades, molotov cocktails prefferably, and then open fishing huts because new zombies come out of the water, open the door and then straight away turn the electric barrier, 3 zombies will then be killed.
do it for storage and then doctors quarters and you'll have it in no time
good luck.

This video really help my friend get it after I showed him, but however every time I tried getting this the achievement would not pop out. I hit all traps in one round and it just didn't work for me.
Maybe it'll work for whoever needs it, I find this video to be one of the best but there are probably better ones out there.

This is how I did this achievement. In round 1, I knifed all the zombies. In round 2 I stayed upstairs and used only the pistol to fire a few head shots then I knifed them. After round 2 I opened up the stairs, purchased the Thompson and hid behind the desks at the gate to the doctors quarters. I stayed there until I got around 5000 points. At the end of the round where I had around 5000, I raced to open the gate near the flogger and went to the shack out there. I opened the hut and turned on the electric fence. By this time zombies were around and got zapped. (Watch out for zombies coming through the windows) When the fence went down, I raced back to the main area and started the flogger. I didn't wait around, but ran to another hut in the swamp and turned on the electric fence there. There were still a few zombies around who got zapped and the cheevo popped. Earlier on I was waiting until I had around 7000 points, but my brain started to work again and I realized that I would get points by using the traps, so I could go earlier. That's how I did it, hope it works for you.

There *IS* some strategy to this achievement. If you play it smart, it's much easier to accomplish. Open up the Doctor's Hut and the Fish Hut, leave the zip line platform down by the Doctor's Hut, and make sure all windows in both buildings are fully repaired. Save up at least 4250 points at the start of the round, and then go hang out in the Doctor's Hut. When the round starts, turn on the electric fence (1000 points) and watch the windows until the fence goes off. At that point, run out to the zip line and take it up to the main building (1500 points). Now run down stairs, past the flogger, and turn it on from the other side (750 points), then continue on to the fish hut, shooting any zombies in your path. Once you get there, turn on the last electric fence (1000 points) and bask in the glow of your achievement.

The biggest benefit of using this particular path is that you NEVER have to run through any swamp (which slows you to a crawl), and your path remains almost entirely clear of any zombies (when you take the zip line to the main building you leave most zombies behind you in the Doctor's swamp, and activating the flogger behind you prevents anything from sneaking up behind you before you make it to the fish hut).

There are really only 3 likely places where you could die. #1- inside the Doctor's Quarters while the fence is on (keep an eye on the windows and make sure you don't get swarmed before the fence turns off). #2- at the door to the Doctor's. This is the toughest part- once the fence goes off, you need to somehow make your way past the zombies at the entrance and to the zip line. #3- the path to the fish hut. This is usually very sparsely populated thanks to your trick with the zip line, so be alert. It'd be a shame to die after you've already come so close.

These are all good guides but they all fail to mention one thing that I found helpful when I did mine solo just a minute ago.

Don't open the stairs, open the gate. That will give you a very good spot between the stairs and the Comm Room gate to shoot without being attacked from behind. It also gives you a pretty good chance at making a crawler with a grenade.

I would also suggest that after you make your crawler move to the Doctor's Quarters gate (but DONT open it) and let the crawler follow you just to give yourself a little extra time. Then when he is close open the Fish Hut gate and hit the Flogger. After getting that kill immediately run to the Doctors Quarters and open the gate to get that trap. Then make your way back to the Comm Room gate and open that one. I would suggest avoiding Storage since you will have to run through water which makes you slower. The others are mostly land running so they are easier.

I bought an Arisaka off the wall at the beginning then hit the mystery box after opening the gate and got an STG-44 which was good. Tempting fate I hit it again a right before dogs and got a FG42 also a good gun. Buying a Thompson would also work and is less risky, but it is 200 points more expensive. I found that doing this solo is a lot easier than trying with a group of 4.

Ok this trophy might sound or seem difficult but it isn't, just be sure to have all the doors open (there are 8 in total). The traps that count for this trophy are the doors with the perks and have a switch that activates the electrical trap. To get this trophy efficiently you must have Juggernaut and have either a horde of 15-20 zombies or 5-6 crawlers. Crawlers are easier as they can't kill you, are easier to run away from and they're easier to use as they follow you at a slow or rapid pace (depending on distance) and can give you some breathing room. Be sure to turn the trap on whilst they're a few feet away. If they drop a Ka-Boom then let it disappear. For the traps to activate correctly you must have the corresponding door opened.

Note: The Flogger doesn't count for this trophy. For those who aren't familiar with this, it's the giant spinning spike trap next to where you buy the Bouncing Betties.

Pretty easy, just make sure they are different traps. You can use the same type of trap but not the same location. Good Luck!
