How to unlock the One of the Lucky Few achievement in Call of Duty: WWII - Definitive Guide

- Reloading the checkpoint also resets the 2 minute timer

Mission 1 (D-DAY)
While you move towards the enemy in mission 1, your goal is to be quick and cross the beach in under 2 minutes and don't take any damage at all.

Unlike the time limit, this can be really tricky since you are surrounded by bullets and explosions. If you get hit, reload your last checkpoint and the time limit will reset, giving you infinite trials for your perfect run.

As far as I know, there is no 100% secure route, only the cover that is spread across the beach. Try to follow the NPC's and move fast from cover to cover. The achievement will unlock after you used the explosive at the seawall.

I timed myself with a stopwatch app on my phone. The time between the checkpoint reload and the bangalore exploding is 1:35, yet I get no achievement.

The achievement is either buggy or the timer isn't reset with checkpoint reloads.

I'd probably break my controller, my xbox, and the disc if I made it in time without getting hit, and it didn't unlock. This is one of the most frustrating and random achievements I've ever attempted.

I was able to get this on my first try on Recruit after failing a number of times on Normal. Can't say whether or not the difficulty actually had any effect though...

Another tip that may help is focusing on reaching the seawall anywhere that is convenient, rather than where the objective is marked. Once you reach the seawall, you can safely crawl to the breach point.

This is funny, Trueachievement page register this for me as completed but on Xbox i see its locked (as not completed). I tried multiple times on recruit with reloading checkpoint. Im positive i did it without hit at least 3 times and achievement did not unlock. I guess checkpoint ruins it and you have to do it from the first load of game or it is bugged...

The only conclusion I can come to after many tries is that you cannot reload the checkpoint. If you don't do it the first time then you have to start the entire mission over.

So clearly something is wrong with this achievement. I did a perfect run without any checkpoint reloads and still got nothing in the end.

I've done it so many times that I recognized the pattern to get to the seawall with zero damage every time.

Okay, so here's the thing: the timer starts once you gain control of your character when Turner pulls you out of the water. This means you lose 40 seconds on the bangalore cutscene and only have 1:20 to advance up the beach.

Experimenting with this knowledge, I got the achievement on the first try when making sure I was only working with a minute and 20 seconds after the bangalore. So, that's the problem the rest of us are having with this achievement.

I can confirm your "solution", Mobius. It just unlocked after 3 retries - your 3 second waiting time is almost foolproof. Route in link works the best ^ Thx

I haven't read the other solutions but as you're making your effort, keep your eye on your health. Also, running along with the NPC's is a very good solution as they take the bullet damage for you. Run on the side of the NPCs as they run individually and or, when they run in a group. The rest is pretty much just a luck of the draw.

Another thumbs up for the link posted above by Mobius Evalon.

I dislike intensely those achievements where blind luck is a major factor. It's still a factor even in the route shown in the video - but it only took me a few attempts, and it's far less of a factor than in other routes to the sea wall if you pause between sprints so the MGs "forget" you.

STRONG up vote for Mobius's YouTube vid strategy. I probably did this 30+ times trying to follow Pierson and using him as a human sponge but to NO AVAIL. It seems the gunfire focus entirely on the NPC's for the most part until you get swept up in them, Mobius's strategy points you away from the rest of the crew really. Did this on my second try using his strategy. THANK YOU!!!

In cases anyone still has completed without achievement unlocking, I had another one that only unlocked after signing out of my account on the console and then logging back in. So, that's still a thing.

I can confirm that pausing the game does *NOT* pause the timer! I did this literally on my first try with the video, and I went just as fast. But the cheevo didn't pop because I kept pausing to reference the video. Then it took me a good another dozen tries before I was able to get it all in one run, the same speed as the first, but without pausing. So the timer continues to count whether or not you are paused or not based on my experience.

I'm in the exact same situation as Mobius. Very annoying.

Zero damage, first try - no reloads whatsoever - after removing the power cord, clearing cache and restarting campaign. I must have been hit with an invisible bullet or something...

Definitely under 2 minutes by the way. Any suggestions?

This one wasn't as hard as i thought it was gonna be BUT by no means easy i would try and dive as often as possible but even the briefest collision with an AI soldier killed my speed and i wouldn't dive i'd lay down and become the worlds ugliest pin up girl to the Germans

New and much faster route.

Knowing that the timer starts once you get out of the water, you lose 40 seconds picking up the bangalore. I'm also almost entirely positive the 25 seconds it takes to deploy the bangalore (up to the end of the quicktime event) must count because my old 1:15 run should have been fast enough if it didn't, so 40 secs + 1:15 beach run + 25 secs bangalore deployment = 2:20, which was far too slow.

Knowing all this now, it means that you have 55 seconds to make the beach run from the banger to the seawall to get the achievement, so it turns out that those of us who weren't getting it were just far too slow.

The most important part about this achievement: the timer starts the moment you gain control of your character when Turner pulls you from the water, and continues until the bangalore is successfully deployed at the seawall.

It takes 40 seconds from original control of the protagonist to the checkpoint after picking up the bangalore, and it takes 25 seconds for the cutscene and bangalore deployment at the seawall. This means that, from the checkpoint after picking up the banger, you only have 55 seconds to get across the beach.

Apparently my run in the first video wasn't fast enough, so I shaved 25 seconds off my last route to get up the beach within the new time limit.

The key is waiting in each shown cover area about 3 seconds for the machine guns to "forget" you're there.

Skip to 2:24 for the beginning of the route.

Mission 1: D-Day
Difficulty: Any
At the very beginning of the mission, you'll need to be able to get all the way to the seawall (the first objective) without taking any fire from the machine gun turret.

This comes down to mostly timing and follow a safe route. Personally, I found the best route to be up the middle, following Pierson at first, but then separating from him as he continues right. You want to be following the patterns of your squad and listening to callouts (and subtitles) about when it is safe to run. Whenever the enemy is firing their turret, you should be behind cover proning, getting ready to sprint when the fire stops.

If at any point you are hit and take damage to your health, immediately pause the game and choose Last Checkpoint.

Mission: D-Day (Any Difficulty)
- After the cutscene with Turner you have 2 mins to breach the seawall without taking any damage
- You can "Restart Checkpoint" as much as you need, it will reset your timer which gives you unlimited retries for this achievement
- My method involved zig-zagging my way down the beach by running and diving behind each cover until i reached the seawall

This achievement can get annoying. Start up the first mission D-Day and then once you get to control your character you can get the achievement. You will have to move from cover to cover while machine guns are firing at you. Always let Pierson or another person go first because they will got shot at and you can run to cover.

Just do this all the way up to the see wall. If you lose health and need to restart just reload last checkpoint. You can get lucky and get this first try or get unlucky and be there for 20 minutes.

One of The Lucky Few Achievement / Trophy Guide

This achievement/trophy can be earned at the start of the first mission 'D-Day' once you gain access to moving your character. You will need to make it to the end of the beach and complete the objective without losing any health which is represented as the Green Bar down in the bottom left.

The best way to do this is to stick close to Pierson the entire time and rush from cover to cover then go prone until either Pierson moves or the MG stops firing. Running and holding the prone button can be a life saver here but if you get hit you can simply restart checkpoint.

Here is a video guide of how it's done.

Personally I found it easier to go to the right where Zussman is. I found there was more cover that way. Also when your Captain says "Quick before they reload", most of the time they were still shooting so you'd end up getting hit. I decided not to listen to him and go another way.

The time limit is actually easy, it's the not getting shot that is the hard part. Listen for a break in fire and use all available cover to your advantage. Dive is your friend.

Managed to do it in like 1:20.

This guide will show you how to breach the seawall without taking damage in under 2 minutes. This is the first achievement you can earn in the campaign - and it's harder than it looks! You must cross the beach quickly without getting shot. Even on Normal difficulty, this is still pretty difficult to do. Follow the path laid out in the video and remember to sprint, go prone, wait for the MG's to reload (a short lull in their firing), and follow Pierson. Most of all, don't get too frustrated because you will get it eventually!

If you downvote, please state why in a comment so the solution can be improved.

The first thing you do is to run up a beach guarded by MGs firing at you. Try to stick close to Pierson, generally he moves when it is safe and will sometimes take a hit for you. If you get hit, just restart the checkpoint and try again. The trophy / achievement pops when detonating the pole charge at the seawall.

Here is a video guide with English commentary!

This Achievement/Trophy Begins at the very beginning of the mission D-Day. You wanna make sure you don't get shot even during the part after you jump out of the boat. After Turner finishes talking to you, go to your left to where Pierson is and follow him till the objective. When you're waiting for him to move to the next cover, prone behind cover to avoid getting shot. You'll know when you get shot if your screen gets red and health bar on the bottom left isn't full. Once you get to the objective and blow it up, the trophy/achievement will pop : }

I admit that the achievement took me a while, after which I could run to the breaking point in 37 seconds, see the clip below
Sorry, this Game Clip has been removed

Please follow my route and try to run and jump, and you will succeed
Note: the time to blast the target point is also included. Please blast as soon as possible and then enjoy the sound of the achievement
(I did this on veteran difficulty.)

Breaching the seawall is the first objective you'll be tasked with completing in the opening mission "D-Day". You will constantly be under fire from MG’s and mortar rounds on the beach; however, there are several positions where you can take cover when running to the seawall. Once you’ve picked up the “Banger” from the dead soldier, you’ll want to closely follow the same route Pierson takes as he’ll run to each cover point when the enemies are reloading their MG’s.

When you are taking cover behind the barricades, you’ll need to go prone by holding down as you’ll be hit if only crouching. When you reach the final barricade and go prone, wait for the MG bullets to stop ricocheting rapidly off the metal. When the fire stops after a brief moment make a dash for the seawall target. Once you’ve put together the “Banger”, you’ll need to move into the circle shown on the screen the press (default controls) to throw it up the seawall. The trophy will pop after the explosion. If at any point you were hit by any bullets, you can pause and restart from your last checkpoint.

I got this trophy in the following way: after the cut-scene we run to the left towards the armored vehicle, from it to the right to the hedgehogs then to the left and jump into the crater, after waiting a little we run to the right behind the armored vehicle. We wait, go around the armored vehicle on the right side and run to the hedgehogs from there to the embankment, blow it up and get the trophy. It worked on the third try.

A very random trophy. Under no circumstances should you move away from Pierceman, as passing the beach without damage at a great distance from it will NOT give you an achievement! Try to stay as close to the NPC as possible and never run ahead of him.

Really, run after Pearson. At first I rebooted the mission from the very beginning, but it was enough to play from the checkpoint. Do not forget that you should not be hit not only by a machine gun, but also by fragments of charges.
