How to unlock the MW2 - Nobody was There achievement in Call of Duty - Definitive Guide
This one is very lengthy, pretty much spans the last 3 quarters of the mission.
This mission pays homage to “All Ghillied Up” from the original Modern Warfare game.
***Please note that you ABSOLUTELY CAN RELOAD LAST CHECKPOINT, should anything go wrong, just do it right away upon a mistake. Saves are very frequent and you’d only lose 1-2 minutes of progress if you do. Reloading checkpoints does NOT void achievements!
During the first part, you’ll be mostly prone and progressing towards the objective without getting seen. This is pretty straightforward and does not count to the achievement if you get detected, though ideally just do it quietly.
The achievement pre-requisite begins once you reach the compound, you’ll be tasked with eliminating all the soldiers around the area from hundreds of meters away with a sniper rifle.
Be wary of bullet drop! Cpt. Price says as much but just in case you didn’t listen, you know. Every dash in the scope accounts for 100m of distance. So when Price says “2 and a half notches (250m), 3 notches (300m), 4 notches (400m) etc.” Use the dashes on the bottom line of the scope to account for that distance. Listen to his callouts well, he will tell you if 2 people need to be taken out with one bullet, or whether they’re alone or to aim for the head etc.
That part is fairly simple, just take your time and work around from one side to the other.
Once you’re done with this, you’ll be tasked to proceed into the compound on foot, on your own. A vehicle patrol will stop about halfway there, just go prone and conceal the weapon. Move very slowly if you see any enemy walking straight at you so you can get out of their way. You can wait this out and eventually they’ll go back into the vehicles and drive off.
In the compound:
*** This part wasn’t very specific on the other guide. But, you can technically alert these guys, just don’t leave them alive long enough to ring any alarms.
Climb onto the roof of the first warehouse using the forklift as a platform out front and open up a vent to use Tear Gas. All enemies will run outside to the front side. Just shoot them all, Price will help you. Then check the interior and search the container. I believe the alarm switches are inside, that’s why it’s best to lure them out with gas.
Straight after this, a squad of 5 will approach from the second warehouse, climb back onto the roof of the first warehouse. Use the heartbeat sensor to monitor their location, take them out one by one. DO NOT let them see you here. All of them are armoured so headshots only. Price will also help you take around two guys if you take your time.
Once they’re dealt with, proceed to warehouse two. Go along the back left side and climb onto the roof again using the boxes in the corner. Open a vent and throw tear gas in, then shoot them all as they run out. Check the interior again and check the table with maps.
Price will ask you to meet outside, you’ll now be heading for the lighthouse. You’ll be sniping away the patrols there, just like at the beginning of the compound. Just take your time and pick them off carefully, as Price tells you.
As soon as you kill the last enemy outside the lighthouse, the achievement will pop. Very simple but lengthy achievement.

The COD MW2 mission Recon by Fire is a nod to the original COD Modern Warfare 'All Ghillied Up' mission. This achievement can be broken down to 5 parts.
YOU CAN LOAD PREVIOUS CHECKPOINT IF ALARM DOES SOUND
1. Get to the compound, the beginning part of the mission does not count toward the achievement. From the vantage point, listen to Price and snipe all enemies in the compound.
2. On the way down to the compound, lay prone and hide weapon when the convoy comes by. Wait until they get back into the truck and drive away.
3. Warehouse 1 - Climb on roof and throw a gas grenade through the air vent and light up the enemies that come through the garage door. Price will help you with this. After searching the shipping container, go back on roof and look to the back of the warehouse to find the next convoy of 5 ARMORED enemies. Captain Price will also help you take out some of this convoy.
4. Warehouse 2 - Round the back left of the warehouse, climb up on the roof and do the same thing with the gas grenade through the air vent technique. This time when you jump in, find the map on the table and meet Cpt. Price outside.
5. When the lighthouse is in sight, take out all remaining enemies similar to the first go around. Listen to Captain Price and compesate for distance with your shots.
The achievement will pop once the last enemy is eliminated outside of the lighthouse!

Yes, you can go "loud" and get spotted when clearing the warehouses in the first base! That section doesn't set off an alarm.
In Mission 9: Recon by Fire you have to complete a stealthy sniper mission similar to All Ghillied Up from the original Modern Warfare. As with the original you'll spend a lot of your time on crawling through grass and avoiding been spotted. These sections are heavily scripted and easy to understand.
When you reach the first compound, you'll need to eliminate all hostiles in the area. Scope into each group and Captain Price will give you a rough idea what you need to do. Including how high you have to move your scope to account for bullet drop. The general rule of thumb is that each "notch" on the scope is 100m range, so a person showing 310m away would be 3 notches up to hit. Don't worry if you miss a shot and alert someone, just go into the main menu and restart checkpoint to try again.
After you've cleared out that area and moved down the hill towards the warehouses, you'll have the option to breach the doors or tear gas the air vents from above. Either method is valid and doesn't affect the alarm trigger. This is the only area of the mission your allowed to go "loud" and be spotted. Remove all hostiles and the 5 heavies that spawn to continue on with the achievement.
You'll then move onto a second sniping section; this is a little trickier than the first as the enemies are better armoured and, in some cases, headshots are required. Again, if you miss a shot just reload the checkpoint until you do it cleanly - once everyone is eliminated in this compound the achievement will pop.

This one's a fun one as it reminds me of the classic "All Ghillied Up" mission from the classic Modern Warfare.
During the mission you'll progress with Captain Price and take out various targets as a team. Often times you'll have to move into a different position to take out two guards at once while he takes out the 3rd. You'll slowly approach the first compound and slowly pick guards off in groups. Once that's clear, you'll move into the compound, clear the two building with tear gas, and search the container before approaching the lighthouse. From there, you'll rinse and repeat until all forces are cleared out.
Tip: At any point, you are free to revert to LAST CHECKPOINT should you get caught or perhaps your shot was just a bit off to alert anyone. Price will make a comment should someone be alerted. Just go back to the last checkpoint, try again, and the achievement pill pop once you clear the guards at the lighthouse.
This game is fairly generous with checkpoints. So no fret if mistakes are made. Even on Veteran this was pretty straightforward.

This was the first achievement I popped on my first playthrough which was on veteran.
This mission is fairly simple for the most part with some harder moments. Being as someone that generally goes veteran on first playthrough, I wasn't figuring to pick this up so easily.
Use your ally to your advantage. He gives you the distance markers for drop on the sniping part and he will be a huge help when you tear gas buildings. Do not waste your tear gas, I can't stress that enough.
So as in the original Modern Warfare game on 360, you have patrols that walk past you at different points. They were all avoidable for me on veteran. Hide your weapon and if need be very slowly move side to side, do not turn around or move your head. Rinse and repeat for each of these patrol areas.
When you get to the sniping parts everytime you view an enemy your ally will tell you 2 things: 1) whether they are alone, can be seen by another enemy, or if you need to position for 2 kills in one shot and 2) the distance for bullet drop. Listen and follow that info, it makes it way easier. Rinse and repeat for all sniping areas.
When you go to clear buildings looking for the missles climb on the roofs and use 1 tear gas in the vent then hide behind a vent on the roof. Your ally will either take out all the enemies (will take all that come out and stay out) or leave only 1 or 2 for you to fight inside the building. If the later is the case use the heartbeat sensor for their location and snipe through the skylights. When reinforcements come again hide behind the vent on the rooftop and wait for your ally to kill them. Rinse and repeat for each building.
If you run out of tear gas, use your frags and snipe through skylights to pick off enemies. Be careful on your skylight positioning as enemies will fire at you.
Once you get to the tunnels it's easy just watch your angles for seeing enemies to shoot.

This mission is a nod to the first modern warfare game "All Ghilled Up" mission.
You don't want to trigger the alarm in 'Recon by Fire,' because if so, you'll have to restart last checkpoint to try again (or otherwise the whole mission if it checkpoint afterward).
Listen to Captain John Price about the bullet drop. You'll know what Captian Price will say. Every dash in the scope will account for 100m of distance, so of how many notches Captian Price say is what you'll need to use the dashes on the bottom line of the scope to account for that distance.
Breakdown:
1 Notch: 100m
1 1/2 notches: 150m
2 notches: 200m
2 1/2 notches: 250m
3 notches: 300m
3 1/2 notches: 350m
4 notches: 400m

Once you're at the first warehouse, go onto the roof and plant your tear gas grenade into the vent so the enemies will evacuate the building. Same thing will happen with the second warehouse.
Straight afterwards, five armored enemies will approach from the second warehouse, so it's headshots only.
After the second warehouse, you'll regroup with Price as you two will head for the lighthouse. Heretofore, you'll once again be sniping away the enemies there. Achievement/trophy pops once the last enemy is K.I.A., and if you never triggered the alarm.
