How to unlock the For a Few Skills More achievement in Call of Juarez: Gunslinger - Definitive Guide

This is a reference to the 1965 Spaghetti Western "For a Few Dollars More" starring Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef.

To get the achievement, you need to have amassed a total of 600,000 xp, thus unlocking all of the skills in the Gunslinger, Ranger and Trapper classes.

I'd recommend playing through the game on Normal first to enjoy the story and to net all the plot based achievements, then playing through a second time on True West difficulty to net the achievements for "Grows in the Telling" (Hard) and "Last Man Standing" (True West) difficulty achievements, and playing through once again to get the "For A Few Skills More" achievement and to grab any Nuggets of Truth you may have missed on the previous playthroughs.

If you have anything you'd like to add or criticise, feel free to comment! :)

do the recollections acts as a story level select playthrough instead of having to go through a 3rd time, as some levels seem to be easier to rack up xp on?

Sadly not, Recollections are only for collecting any missing collectibles, XP from Recollections doesn't count. You'll just have to start another new game + playthrough

Do you know if skills are carried over when starting a new playthrough?

If you do a new game + playthrough then yeah, they are carried over

You will need 600,000 xp to get all the skills. It took me 2 playthroughs and the 1st 2 levels again a 3rd time to get there. Other people may get there from just 2. Buy all the concentration and combo skills 1st. I found the execution skill was the one I used most, you just hold RB when you have concentration stocked up and it locks on to headshots automatically for some quick and easy points.

Im not sure tbh, but you have to do 2 playthroughs anyway so that should put you well near the total, if you try replaying and you do get xp post again to let us know and il add it to the solutionsmile

Yep, if you're going for the rest of the nuggets of truth via recollections, you're forfeiting the xp. If you're like me and missed at least one NoT in each level, you might as well just do another playthrough.

I can confirm you CAN'T get xp by replaying missions via recollections...I tried to do it this way myself, and it doesn't work....simply using new game plus on any difficulty is the way to go.

The maximum level in this game is 37, you will need to beat the game twice in order to unlock every skill in the game. While leveling up, try to stick with one category of skills, that way you will unlock the exclusive and legendary weapons that you will later use. When you unlock the two weapons from a single category, you will also get the Perseverance trophy. After I finished my first playthrough I reached level 19, and I had only ran through the levels shooting everything, I didn't even pay attention to the environment.

You need to reach level 37 which requires approximately 600,000xp to unlock the last skill point needed to unlock every skill. This will require a minimum of 2 playthroughs and maybe a few missions more depending on your play style. You have to choose "New Game Plus" for skills & xp to carry over across different playthroughs. You cannot gain XP in Recollections (Chapter select) as that option is purely for picking up missed collectables.

After completing the story, you will have the opportunity to play an expanded new game, while all developed skills are preserved and you can upgrade Greaves further.

I would also advise you to learn the second skill in the “trapper” branch as soon as possible, it increases the combo multiplier by 2 in concentration mode, the more combos the more experience you will get

The previous hint is not correct, I completed it on normal, then started the game+ on the second difficulty and didn’t have enough points, started the new game+ again on normal and finished it off.

To unlock all skills, your character must reach level 37 (600,000 points) in the “History” mode.

First of all, we discover all the skills related to concentration.

This actually helps a lot in scoring points.

Plus you can get a trophy in 15 minutes in this mode.
