How to unlock the Taylor Made achievement in Call of the Wild: The Angler - Definitive Guide
Edit: You do NOT have to complete every challenge to get this achievement, I had three left when this popped for me. However, you do have to complete all to max reputation if you are also going for
First guide so leave any tips on how to improve in the comments, Thanks!
So first off it has recently been fixed so you can get this now and secondly this is going to be a very time intensive achievement. There are no hard and fast rules of how to do this so time required will vary for everyone based on how lucky and dedicated you are, but I will lay out some tips below. You are tasked with catching specific types of fish at certain locations starting at bronze rank and as you complete tasks it unlocks more tasks with the later ones moving on to silver and gold ranks. You start out with the bronze rank, this is normally smaller fish that bite smaller hooks so your starting gear should get you a decent way through this so you can then upgrade gear to tackle the later stages. Each fish you need to catch should be a guaranteed spawn so you WILL be able to get it at that location even if it’s the only fish of that type there.
I will try and come back and include a picture showing each fish type and what hook size gets which rank below. Since I can’t figure out how to do that from my phone…
Tips and tricks
Starting out you can look up each fish type in the handbook (select then scroll over with RB) here you can highlight which of the 21 reserves population types and see various info about them and your best catch stats. The part you need to focus on for challenges are bait and lure preferences and traits.
Baits and lures:
This shows the top three preferred lures of that species in order and while you normally will catch it with the first or second with little trouble you can also hit Y and see EVERY preferred ranked from best to worst so find one of the first ones you come across you have with the needed hook size and try it. I haven’t had much trouble as long as I stayed in the top three though.
Traits:
There are several here and though they all change how you attack catching that type of fish the main 3 you need to pay attention to are:
Easily spooked (fish outline with yellow ! Over it)
this means it will swim away if you move near it by their shore but mainly it means try casting in areas like lilly pads when fishing for these since they like to hide in cover.
Sun lover/night owl (fish with sun/moon symbol over it)
These fish are more likely to strike during the day/night respectively. HOWEVER, since the required fish are guaranteed spawns you can still catch them at any point it just make it a slightly more difficult challenge.
Bottom lurker (fish on a line swimming down a yellow slope)
There types prefer swimming towards the bottom so set your bobbers deep or if using a lure let it sink to the bottom and reel in across that depth
You can hit X to find a more detailed view of the trait icons
Lastly if you need help with the map location challenges tasking you with FINDING the location or any challenges in particular I found a great YouTube channel with a guy who’s part of a group that will work with the developers who give pretty detailed and great videos of each challenge and even some of the other achievements (like the warden quest line and collectibles) called Newdogg Productions, look up his channel if you have issues with any challenges specifically since there are too many to link each video. Be sure to drop a like and maybe a sub to him since he definitely has the best videos I’ve found for this game AND normally keeps them updated if a game mechanic changes.

I havent seen anything about it glitched, maybe go back through and make sure you got everything? some of the later ones dont show up until you finish all the early ones so I'd check the in game counter for challenges completed.

You were absolutely right, WEagleScout! There were several new challenges on a Challenge Board that weren't there before. Thanks so much for the help!

Great start for this. It is a pain and many fish are very troublesome to find in some of the challenge areas. Looking at you gold ranked Green Sunfish.
One tip is if you are trying to catch something specific, and it keeps getting a different fish. Try to find a bait that doesn't overlap between the two fish and it will help your odds just a bit.

Tip for that Gold rank Sunfish. They released a patch recently (like 10/6/23 I think?) and some have reported if it didnt fix it after updating, if you do a complete uninstall and reinstall that fixes it. I got it going with a #8 hook w/ bloodworm, catching a silver rank sunfish so you know where to cast, then sizing up to a #7 w/ bloodworm casting in the same spot and just waiting until you get a hit however long it takes. It took two perch catches before the sunfish showed up with about 5-10 minutes-ish of waiting between each but that worked for me. Just wait in that spot though don't recast elsewhere.
