How to unlock the A Century of Checkpoints! achievement in Carmageddon: Max Damage - Definitive Guide
This can be done in either career or freeplay. The checkpoints appear to spawn in a set order, but I found larger maps to be easier since it lessens the chance of the AI being right next to one when it does appear. I've found they tend to grab the first ones very quickly but become worse as the game progresses, so don't be disheartened by a poor start.
There are a couple of things you can do to make your life a bit easier though. The first is to abuse the auto recovery () if you're about to crash, get pushed into a wall or go off the map. This is especially true in the desert levels where one appears in a canyon. Drive off the edge above the checkpoint and hit recover as soon as it triggers. You'll spawn on ground level in a much better position to find and go after the next one. Which also brings me to my second point, going above the checkpoint will trigger it. As long as you're near the red beam of light, it will count. So if the next one appears below you (the red dot will have a down arrow on it) don't immediately drive off a ledge, see if there's a way you can jump into it.
I used the Hawk and Eagle for most stages, with the Lumberer also being ok for bumpier terrain. Whilst having a faster car might seem the way to go, you don't want to get wrecked and your points stolen

You can check your progress towards this, in the Criminal Record tab.
Simply play the missions called "Checkpoint Stampede". In this mode random checkpoints appear around the map and you have to rush to get them before the other cars. There are 80 in career mode, plus 3 unlimited timed levels. You can cleanup in Freeplay. As usual I pick either the Eagle-R or Electric as my car of choice.
