How to unlock the LEADER OF THE TRACK achievement in Cars 2: The Video Game - Definitive Guide

Hunter missions are when you are in an arena trying to destroy lemons. There is one per clearance level giving 6 missions in total.

5 out of 6 are fairly straight forward but the London level is the one most likely to cause problems.

The key to victory on this one is wave 5.
At the side of the arena are two balconies. Grab some missiles (at the side of the balconies) at wait for the helicopter on the top of the balcony. When it arrives, jump and hit it with a missile and then move to the opposite balcony. Repeat for a total of 3 missiles and the helicopter will go down.

This will net you around 500 points so as long as you have scored 100+ on the first five waves you should get gold.

Was struggling to get this achievement normally but the tips to take out the helicopter really helped. Took few tries to figure it out but it worked. Only the missile works than any other weapon

A fairly easy way to get this done is by using the infinite turbo code (721953) and once you're in the arena press double X to get the energy barrier around your car. Keep bashing into cars, as it takes a simple bash to knock the enemies out while you have the barrier surrounding you. When the barrier disappears, simply press double X again.

It helps using weapons too but i got a score of 925 (only 600 was needed) in London Arena mostly by bashing enemy cars, in my first attempt! Hope this helps.

I'll add that i just got 1400 points on Tokyo Arena (Level 5) out of 700 which were required to get a gold trophy.

This should be the top guide. I got over 1,000 pts in every Hunter mission once I did this. Before that I struggled to get above 400. Much less stressful way of doing it +1

yeah just double X and ram cars. also try to go for combos by hitting several within a few seconds. you get a 4 or 5x combo, and you get a buttload of points. for example i got 1820 points on the 6th Hunter mission by start of wave 3 just by getting a couple high combos due to AI being close together.

You need to get first place on all hunter missions. there are a total of 6 hunter missions.

at first some of the missions seem impossible, they are actually pretty simple once you know what to do.

on the main screen you can go to options and then codes, enter 123456, you unlock the guided laser, you start the hunter missions then with a guided laser, i believe that on all maps there is a cube that gives you another laser that keeps respawning....

anyway start with the laser and get a kill or 2 to start the game, then on about every level you can camp the cars spawn and get easy kills there, then just drive around picking up machine gun or lasers or rockets and chase somebody down and shoot them, pretty simple once you pick it up, i got the achievement about 8 hours into playing the game, 45minutes after trying for the achievement.

just stick with it and you can get it, pick up as many cubes and shoot at the cars quickly and you'll have it in no time.

@ReiS Snow I just got gold on the London arena by doing the following: Circle around the outskirts and take out as many as you can by using the infinite turbo and all rockets etc you pick up. The cars all spawn around the outside so you should get a fair score. At round 5 go between the two elevated platforms; one each end. You can hit the helicopter up to 3 tines by jumping then shooting for 100 points a time. That's how I got it, but even then my score was only 630

*by go between I mean go up on to one and then the other; the helicopter alternates between them

Go for pink cars (20 points), red cars (25 points) and yellow cars (50 points)! And if you have a combo of around 3 enemies you'll get around 80 points for that.

My stats after each wave in London:
wave 1 130
wave 2 390
wave 3 520
wave 4 655
wave 5 825

Good luck to everyone :)

Posted strategy on London Arena where you take out the helicopter is gold! I was barely getting 200 points by the end of round 4, but shooting the helicopter down pushed me to 670 points on the first try! toast

Hunter Missions consist of 5 waves and you can die as much as you want (although that will cost you the few seconds it takes to respawn). The goal here is to reach the target score by destroying enough enemies to obtain GOLD. The waves only last between 1-2 minutes. The secret to getting high enough score is getting combo kills. This will net you a multiplier and allow you to obtain Gold medals easier.

The basic combo is to find a group of 3 or 4 green cars and destroy them all at once. Another combo is to chain kills together. Speed is important here. After killing a car, you have just a few seconds to kill another one to continue the chain. You will know if you were fast enough because it will pop up an on-screen message. You can keep chaining kills for as long as possible. The final thing to consider is the type of enemy you kill is worth different amount of points. The purple, red and yellow cars are worth more than the green cars so stringing them into combos will add a lot of points to your score fast! And one last note, during the last minute or so of wave 5, Professor Z's helicopter will appear low enough for you to target and attack it. It has it's own symbol that is different from the rest so it it pretty easy to spot. Missiles or the Satellite Quake work well. Hitting the helicopter will add major points to your score.

There are a total of 6 C.H.R.O.M.E. Hunter missions and you can even replay them immediately if you don't get gold on your first try or you can come back to them via level select later. Here is a list of the levels and the number of points you need to reach gold:

  • Clearance Level 1 - Oil Rig Showdown / 600 points
  • Clearance Level 2 - Airport Showdown / 600 points
  • Clearance Level 3 - London Showdown / 600 points
  • Clearance Level 4 - Italy Showdown / 650 points
  • Clearance Level 5 - Tokyo Showdown / 700 points
  • Clearance Level 6 - Return to the Rig / 800 points
