During your first battle in the tutorial, your partner will ask you what your aesthetic is. Picking sweet will get you a Candevil, while picking spooky will get you a Bansheep.

If you don't want to wait till the end game though you could also start a new game, the choice occurs about 1minute in.

Candevil is one of the two potential starters for the game. You can't get it if you chose Bansheep, but during part 4 of the ranger quest, you can buy a tape from the Ranger merchant for 20 fusion essence each.
