A nice strategy I just figured out that can help with all the characters is find the bull looking creature with red eyes that follows you into rooms. Go back into the room you came from and farm gold and orange upgrades off him. Having max upgrades for armor makes beating the boss much easier.

Enter the following Ritual from the main menu:

dpad-up.pngdpad-down.pngbutton-page.pngbutton-page.pngbutton-page.pngbutton-page.pngdpad-down.pngbutton-page.pngbutton-a.pngdpad-up.pngbutton-b.pngdpad-up.pngbutton-a.png

This will spawn you as the Champion with everything you need to beat the game. Check a handful of the neighboring rooms from where you spawn to find a shimmering orange thing in the center of a random room. Walk into this to be teleported to the boss room. Press button-x.png when standing on the symbol on the floor to initiate the boss fight. If you can't find the orange glimmer after five or six rooms, feel free to quit out (button-page.png) and restart a new run with the same ritual above, and you may have better luck with one spawning nearby.

The Champion is one of the best characters and has a relatively easy time with the boss. Your regular button-a.png attack knocks him back, so it's relatively easy to keep your distance. For the first and second phases where he just moves around and then dashes at you, you can easily keep your distance with your regular attack since it knocks him away. The only bad part is that the Champion is relatively slow, so dodging his dashes will be tough. On the plus side, you'll do damage quickly enough that he won't get many dashes in, and the Champion also has a decently large amount of health to survive both phases. The third phase is identical for all characters, meaning attack as much as possible and do your best to dodge the random fireballs. Nothing special for the Champion in the last phase, just do damage as much as possible to reduce the number of fireball phases you need to deal with.

One important thing I struggled with was, after the boss turns blue and spirals around the room and then blasts back into the center of the room, sometimes I would take damage when he reappeared in the center for no apparent reason. This seemed to happen whenever I was standing in the bottom half of the room. I switched to always waiting in the upper left corner for him to reappear and never ended up taking random damage in that corner.
