When entering your name, leave it blank by just hitting the start button. The password doesn't seem to work unless the name is left blank. I tested multiple times and works Everytime when name is blank and never seems to work when I enter a name before password.

In order to damage him, you always need to hit him in the head.
1st, he'll launch projectiles at you. Hit them with the whip and they with break into more. Hit them before they hit you. While doing that, hit him in the head whenever you get the chance with whip or item.
2nd attacks, he'll spawn fire guys that will chase you until they hit you or you hit them 1st. Like before hit him in the head when you can.
3rd attacks, he'll spawn lightning attacks. They're always vertical so stand in between to avoid getting hit and hit him in the head when you have the chance.
He can be a pain in the ass so abuse the save feature. I saved after every hit on him. It takes 2-3 hits for him to lose on bar of health.

To earn this trophy you must beat Super Castlevania IV, which is a remake of sorts of the first Castlevania and consists of 12 difficult stages. However, you can expedite matters a bit with the following password. Enter a blank name (or it will not work) and fill in the password:
This will take you directly to the final battle with Dracula.
Of some note is that at the bottom of the stair case, there is an invisible platform. If you jump onto it then move left, jump to another lower hidden platform and move to the left corner, you will get a whole host of upgrade items that fall from the ceiling. It takes a few seconds to get everything and the fall in waves so be patient. HOWEVER, since the platforms are invisible, working your way back may be difficult. But it will help set you up for the tedious and difficult battle with Dracula. As always, abuse your quick save. Dracula is tough and cheap.
