The Necromancer is the 2nd boss I encountered. He's not very hard, I mostly just flailed wildly with my whip while managing the minion spawns. About halfway through the fight he takes away your auto-block ability, you still shouldn't have much difficulty with the fight if you just keep slugging away.
After beating him and getting the item upgrade from the fight the achievement should pop for an easy 15G.

This is story related and cannot be missed.
The Necromancer is the second boss in Simon's campaign. Start the battle with your shield up and wail on the boss. Once he loses enough health, he'll steal your shield ability so you'll need to take a little more care with your attacks at this point. Once he loses enough health two green rings will appear around him. Wait until the openings on the rings line up and run through them. Grab the boss to get your shield back. After doing more damage to him, three rings will appear so wait for an opening and run through them. This will end the battle.
