How to unlock the Sever the Skyline achievement in Celeste - Definitive Guide

The cassette to unlock these levels can be found about three-quarters of the way through Chapter 1, and after that you can access them any time from the map. I recorded a quick walkthrough of both the cassette and the B-Side:

Timestamps are in the description, and I've also included a couple tips to make some of the moves make a bit more sense

Since this will be your first B-Side, I'll do some explaining
The B-Sides are unlocked after finding the cassette in the A-Side, or normal version, of their given level. So, for the B-Side of Chapter 1, you need to find the cassette in the third section of Chapter 1. After collecting the cassette and finishing the level, you'll get your rundown of strawberries collected and total deaths, plus the unlock for the B-Side.

B-Sides are more difficult version of the given chapter, with the same theme and mechanics of the level, just turned up to 11. The sections are roughly the same length as their A-Side counterparts as well. Every B-Side ends with an alternating pink and blue platforming section with their Crystal Heart at the very end. Plus, they have a bangin' alternate version of the level's theme song. That should be everything, so let's get into it. I'll break each section down into their own parts so they're easily identifiable.

As I said earlier, the cassette for Chapter 1 is in the third section, a few rooms above from the checkpoint. You'll need to move a moving platform in the first room to go through the ceiling, use the moving platform in the second room to go through the ceiling again, and move the moving platform in the third room to find a secret room that houses the cassette. Grab the cassette from there and finish the level to unlock the B-Side.

Section One
  • The first room is pretty simple. Save your dash for the opposite side of the room. Climb the wall and jump up to grab the overhead wall. Jump to the other side of the spiked earth wall, then jump to the opposite side of the spiked metal wall and dash up-right to exit the room.
  • You'll need to ride the moving platforms until they stop, or else you'll fling into the spiked ceiling, then jump to the other side and jump ahead before they move too far down. Repeat for the second moving platform, but this time dash up-right to reach the end of the room.
  • You'll need to redeploy the same tactic as the last room. I could only consistently get on the right platform of the first two by dashing to the wall first, then jumping onto the left platform, then to the right one. Ride it up and jump as it reaches its peak to get a boost over the next wall. Grab that wall as you fall down, then jump to the next moving platform and ride it to the end, then simply climb the wall overhead to go through the ceiling.
  • You'll need to use the moving platform's momentum to launch you over the spiked walls and floors ahead, where you'll need to grab onto the side of the next moving platform and do the same thing again. On the last moving platform, you should jump after it stops and dash into the gap to climb into the ceiling.
  • You'll see a pair of mounted binoculars that allow you to look across the room to see what's ahead. Use them if you like. Jump up to the wall and climb up to jump to the moving platform. Jump off the platform as it reaches the end to be launched across the screen to a metal wall. Quickly climb up enough to jump to the next small metal wall, then jump to the second small metal wall. Jump over this wall and grab onto the opposite side, then jump across to the wall and climb up to grab the gem. Climb high on the wall to bypass the next metal wall, then jump across the gap and dash to the end to reach section two.
Section Two
  • The first room was the most difficult for me for this level. You need to jump over the jump pad and land on the far end of the moving platform and press yourself up against the wall. The jump pad will be forced into you, causing you to bounce up to the overhead wall. You need to jump off the wall without grabbing on and dash up-right as soon as you humanly can to reach the opposite side of the spiked walls ahead. As soon as you clear the spikes, you need to hold down to fast-fall and land on the far end of the moving platform. Keep holding down to crouch under the wall, then jump up in the middle to grab onto the wall and climb up to the edge of the spikes. You can't climb through them, so don't worry. Jump up and dash to the end the screen, then continue through the ceiling.
  • In the second room you'll need to grab onto the moving platform and jump off just before it reaches the end of its path to be flung forward just enough to avoid the incoming spiked wall and still clear the spikes on top of the wall underneath you. Grab onto the right side of the wall and slide down, then dash across to the other moving platform and jump off of it to go through the ceiling.
  • Use the jump pad to boost you through the spikes, then grab onto the wall and jump and dash to the right to clear the spikes and grab the right side of the wall. Slide down to the gem and jump and dash to the next gem, then dash up through the spikes and grab onto the wall. Jump and grab the right side of the next wall, then slide down to the gem and jump and dash up to the next gem. Grab onto the wall and repeat the jump and dash to climb up through the ceiling.
  • Use the jump pad to boost you to the small wall overhead. Jump and dash up to the falling ice block, then quickly jump to the right to clear the spikes below and grab onto the right side of the wall. Slide down to just below the spikes ahead and jump through to grab onto the metal wall. Wall bounce up to the top and jump over the spikes to reach the gem on the other side. Make your way back to the earth wall and fall down to the bottom, then jump across to grab onto the lower metal wall. Jump over the spikes and grab onto the right side of the wall, then jump and dash over the spikes to exit through the right side of the screen.
  • Jump onto the moving platform and jump off as it reaches the end of its path to be launched across to another moving platform that you'll grab onto. Ride that one to its peak and jump off to be launched at an angle upward, where you can either grab onto the metal walls and climb around to reach the right side of the moving platform, where you'll need to wait for it to stop to jump over to the left side and ride that up and jump off as it reaches its peak to boost into the ceiling, or you can just fly over the metal walls and dash up-left to clear everything and grab onto the left side of the moving platform and exit from there.
Section Three
  • You need to dash to the moving platform and jump as it reaches its peak to fly over the spiked ice block overhead. Grab onto the right side of the platform and jump to the single crumbling block to get your dash back, then jump back onto the moving platform and jump as it reaches its peak again to head right to grab onto the next moving platform. Quickly jump before it starts moving to avoid the surrounding spikes, then fall down the hole it made in the spikes to grab onto the right side of the metal wall below and quickly jump again to clear the wall ahead and dash up to climb the wall and exit through the ceiling.
  • Grab onto the moving platform and wait for it to stop to jump to the next moving platform and do the same thing. Jump off the second moving platform and dash to the next moving platform ahead. Once that platform stops, jump over the top and slide down the right side of the ice wall. Jump to the next wall and climb up and jump to the gem, then fall down and grab the right side of this ice wall. Slide down and jump, then dash up to climb through the ceiling.
  • Jump onto the moving platform ahead and keep running, then jump off as you reach the right edge to boost up just enough to avoid the spikes overhead but still make it to the next moving platform. Do the same thing here and dash up as you fly through the gap to reach two small moving platforms right next to the wall. Grab the bottom platform and quickly jump to the next one, then jump up to clear the current platform and land on top of the now returning lower platform. Quickly boost up to the second platform to boost up to the ledge overhead and exit through the right.
  • Jump onto the moving platform and jump as it reaches its peak to fly up through the spikes and dash over the top of the moving platform on the right. Grab onto it and quickly jump off and fall through the gap in the spikes to grab onto the moving platform again, as well as grab the gem. Jump off and dash to the right to land on top of the small moving platform, then jump as it reaches its peak to fly through the spikes overhead. Fall to the right past the spikes below and dash to the last moving platform, where you'll need to jump to the left before it slams you into the spikes overhead and dash to the end of the screen and exit right.
  • Jump to the first moving platform and jump as it reaches the end of its path to fly across the screen to another moving platform, where you'll do the same, this time heading left as you jump to be able to dash onto a third moving platform that you'll ride to its end. When it stops, jump off and land on the single crumbling platform to refill your dash. Jump back onto the moving platform and wait for it to stop moving to jump up and dash to the next moving platform overhead. When it stops moving, jump to the gem overhead and dash up to land on the crumbling platforms as you climb to the next moving platform. Grab onto it and let it fling you across the room to a second and third moving platform that takes you all the way to the ceiling and out of this room.
  • Walk past where the level would normally end and find some pink and blue platforms that alternate between dark and highlighted. You'll need to cross these to find the crystal heart and end the level. Wait for the blue blocks to be highlighted and dash up to the second one from the ledge, then jump to the pink one above and quickly get on top of it to refill your dash. Jump into the hole ahead and grab onto the wall to stall for the right time to continue. The remaining blocks all alternate from each other, so the only challenge here is finding the right timing to jump from one block to the next until you reach the back wall. Climb the wall and jump and dash into the heart to collect it and end the level.
Congratulations on completing your first B-Side!!!

'B-sides' are challenging variants of each chapter, unlocked by finding and collecting a cassette tape in each respective standard chapter. Once unlocked, completing the B-side will award you with this trophy. You may want to remember at this point that 'assist mode' can be used if you find these too difficult! See Gateway, above, for a guide to the cassette tape locations.

The level itself is quite difficult if you do not go through it with cheats. It took me 320 tries
