If like me you were confused where Spoils of War was, when you queue for an Unranked match, you either enter a Spoils of War or Carnage match.
The objective of Spoils of War is pretty simple, just collect the most gold and stash it in your base. Win 2 rounds and you win the match.
Like any "Win x amount of matches", it comes down to a bit of skill and luck with your teammates. Best advice I can give is try and focus on taking down the Gold Collectors early on, and stashing the gold at base semi-regularly.
Sometimes a Gem will spawn that gives you an extra 300 gold if held to the end of the round, I personally recommend only going for the Gem towards the last minute of a round to make sure you're not a target the whole time holding it.
And obviously you want to make sure the Vault-Breacher that spawns in doesn't hit you're base, but instead hits the enemy base, as once the Vault-Breacher hits ones base, about 75% of the gold in the base will be lost.
