This is easily completed in level 1-1 with a second controller. I just jumped the second player onto the chariot and pushed/pulled him through the level. There are only a couple of places where you need to actually control and jump them up to a higher platform, but nothing where you need to control both at the same time.

For co-op, press start on a second controller, and then 
to join. You do not need a second player with you to complete this achievement; you could simply play through the map while the second character sits there. He will respawn near you when you get too far.
