Yeah, sorry, I'll try my best to explain.
The reason I keep detaching and reattaching the rope is only because it feels better and faster. Im pretty sure just holding the rope and using LB without detaching it would work just as fine. But yes, constantly use LB to pull the chariot towards you. It's essential.
The chariot is upgraded once, and you would still get the achievement after completely upgrading it. But the upgrades wont make it easier, it doesn't make it faster.
So no point waiting with this achievement.
Some other things to think about:
1. Always use pull instead of push EXCEPT the first 7 seconds, where you actually save a second pushing it.
2. Start pulling (with LB) while jumping up on obstacles will save you some time.
3. Riding the chariot is pretty much essential to get gold. Ride it when you're going down. And whenever there are no obstacles, just flat ground, pull the chariot towards you, and then jump up on it to get a ride. Even tho it's just for a few seconds it's a better option than pulling it.
4.Use the shortcut, (about 2:18 in to the video). It's possible to make it without using it, I've done it with 3 seconds to go. But, using it you are still allowed to make a few mistakes.

I don't see why this achievement has such a high ratio. You can get it within minutes of starting the game. Also, I don't see why this achievement's ratio is so much higher than the gold speedrun achievement (the one where it is with or without the gadget, can't remember the name right now).

Have they patched this recently? I felt like I was getting a near perfect run and only got bronze. I tried again and started your video run at the exact same time my game run started. When you finished, your clock was on 2:28. At the exact same time (remembering that the clocks started at the exact same time) my clock was at 2:50! WTF!? My clock is ticking faster than yours and it's making it impossible for me to even come close!
I'm definitely not giving you a down vote or anything, your video is quite helpful. But has anyone else experienced this? Have they patched the clock to make it harder to get this achievement?

No. That happened to me when I was trying to speedrun 1-5. Everything was about 1.5 times faster except for me. Restarted my xb1 and it was fine. Dunno why that happens though.

Thanks KinectKid333! I tried it again today, and the clock ran the same as the video. Such a strange glitch! But oh well, achievement unlocked!
ThaGurk - you might wanna add this glitch into your guide just in case it happens to anyone else.

Thanks for this. I hadn’t played for years and forgot about LB and it shaved 30 seconds off my time. smile

Some brief explanation as to some of the thing you did would help a lot. Why do you keep detaching and reattaching the rope? Does this work faster or better in some way? Are you using the pull of the chariot (meaning using RT + LB) or just the basic drag (RT alone)? Is that a base chariot or has it been upgraded and will the achievement unlock with upgrades added on?

The other solution is great, but I thought I would just add a bit more info to simplify this achievement.

- Level 1-1 is easiest
- Speedrun unlocks after beating the level (finding the exit) and is a separate option on the level select screen. Make sure you are on Speedrun or you will not get the achievement.
- Also make sure to select 'none' on your item select screen. Having an item equipped but not using it will not unlock the achievement.
- Most important for speed try to stay ahead of the chariot and create enough distance for you to drag it towards you at a good speed and jump on top.
- There is a big jump near the end where you can save time by falling in the gap and dragging the chariot back.

Check out the video of my run for technique and route!

It should only take a few tries and your ratio will thank you for it!

The easiest map to do this on is level 1-1. Make sure you have no gadget equipped, and begin the speed run. The only way you will get this is by boosting your chariot. This means consistently winding it in little spurts, because dragging it will slow you down.

Here is a video guide of mine:
