How to unlock the Chess Champion achievement in Chess Ultra - Definitive Guide
You may be worrying that you actually must be good at chess to get this achievement! Fear not! There is an easy workaround to getting this achievement. Using this guide will help you unlock this achievement and three others:
-From the main menu, select "Single Game"
-Select "New Game", then "Continue"
-Make sure your opponent setting is the first option (computer)
-Additionally, make sure your side is white.
-Select the Grandmaster opponent. Then start the game.
-Make sure your ELO is at least 150 under the computer's ELO. If it isn't, exit out, start a few games with a novice computer and then immediately resign to lower your ELO.
-Go here: https://en.lichess.org/analysis (Note: does not work using Internet Explorer)
-Go to the menu and move the "Multiple Lines" slider from 1 to 5. Also make sure the "Best Move Arrow" option is on.
-Look at the move the blue arrow indicates. Be sure to give the engine a few seconds to think for each move. Make the move on the analysis board, then make the move on Chess Ultra.
-When the computer makes a move on Chess Ultra, make that move on the analysis board, regardless of what the blue arrow says. Repeat until checkmate occurs.

How do you know when it is finished calculating the next move?

It will usually have the best move calculated after around 10-15 seconds.

Easiest way to this and the Ello trophies is to use https://www.nextchessmove.com
Especially if like me you realise you're not really that good at chess when you start to play this game.

This is an extremely easy, albeit time consuming achievement to get.
Step one is to start a game as black with no timer. The rest of the settings don't matter, so long as your opponent is a grandmaster A.I. Wait for white to make a move. Hit ESC and then "Quit". Make sure you hit quit every time and do not resign. That's very important.
From here, make a second game where you play as white and mimic the moves from the first game. Just repeat this until one of the A.I. wins. When it does, that winning move against the other A.I. will net you the achievement.
I did find this confusing at times. What I did was opened an image program on a second screen, after every (opponent) move, I'd screenshot the board, and paste it into the image program after I quit. From there, I'd reference it in the other game and double-check your moves. DOUBLE CHECK!!!!
I got distracted in the late game and nearly threw away an hour of work. Thankfully my prior chess experience was enough to carry me through the rest of the game and win. Don't make my mistake. I also had timers on, which only made things more stressful. Just double-check your moves, play without a timer, and know that so long as you play the exact same moves, one of them will win eventually and you'll get the achievement.

For this trophy you're going to utilize Next Chess Move.
Set up your game up and have the simulator make your moves for you. The simulator at NextChessMove beat the Grandmaster AI all three times I tried it.

For simplicity, you can use a chess calculator. The computer opponent plays far from like real grand players. So there's nothing to worry about
