How to unlock the Turnabout Squeeze achievement in Chicory: A Colorful Tale - Definitive Guide

This side quest is available in Simmer Springs (top-left corner of the map, you can find this location once you get to the Wielder Trials chapters). First, enter the large hotel building that is on the same screen as the transit station. You'll be confronted with a quest to photograph evidence to find the stolen furniture. The first piece of evidence is in the empty room you start out in. For the next piece, exit the hotel, then paint up the outside to "swim" to the roof. At the back of the roof there is a semi-hidden staircase which will take you down the back side of the building, again using the "swim" ability. There are more black splashes of evidence on the ground behind the hotel, at the foot of the dumpster. Next, go back around to the front of the hotel, then right one screen and up one screen. Your next set of black splashes are here next to the waterfall. Go back down to the bridge, right one screen, and enter the cave on the right. More black splotches at the alligator guy's feet here inside the cave. Once you've photographed all four splashes, go back inside the hotel and talk Quince - the bat in the entryway. After all the dialogue, your achievement will pop.

@BRiT wtfdotcom Same here. This achievement along with “More Than Myself” and “Explorer”. I’ve done each of them twice already with no luck.

@XPac23 I played through yet another time and still this achievement will NOT unlock. This is glitched entirely.

Started up an entirely brand new from scratch everything deleted playthrough in a single session and finally got this achievement to register.

Glitches suck.

I did this on PC and didn't have any problem. I haven't had any glitched achievements. (Yet. Knock on wood.)

High up in the Northwest corner of the map is a building located left of the Dessert Peak Wielder Trial waterfall. This building is a Resort located in a small area called Simmer Springs. If you head inside the building and talk to Butterscotch, a non-descript creature (maybe a chipmunk or other rodent) you will learn that all the furniture has been stolen from the Presidential Suite and the only thing left in the top floor area is a mysterious black mess on the floor.

You will then be tasked with playing detective throughout the small area looking for other instances of the black substance, taking photos of the clues and interviewing the suspects. Once you have found all four spots, zoomed in and taken a picture of the reticuled mess, talk to Quince the Bat at the resort and give your best guess at whodunit.

The screens you want to check out are:
  • The top floor of the Simmer Springs Resort to initiate the quest
  • The bottom area behind the resort with the garbage bin and the Dog
  • The bottom of the waterfall where the Frog Detective is relaxing
  • Inside Chili's Cave (the alligator located two screens right of the resort)
Make sure to talk to Butterscotch and Quince again if you are not given the option to reveal the culprit straightaway. Once the scene plays out and all is revealed, you will receive this trophy.

Here is my video guide for the trophy: Chicory: A Colorful Tale - Turnabout Squeeze

Incidentally, during the quest Butterscotch may ask you to decorate the Presidential Suite. There is no need to do this for the quest here nor is there any reward for the decoration quest. I also never had Pistachio appear in the Resort, no matter how many chairs I put down so if you are running low on decor and are afraid of wasting it in Simmer Springs, save it for another location.
